* AbhorrentAdmirer: A male variant of the trope, with Kaneki as the object of his unwanted attentions. His obsession begins because of Kaneki's "intoxicating" scent, and only increases after he realizes that Kaneki is a HalfHumanHybrid. While his intentions are to eat the object of his interest, Tsukiyama goes through all the expected motions of courting. He's particularly delighted with Kaneki's transformation into a ruthless AntiHero, with the lines between murderous intentions and romantic interest further blurring.
* AffectionateNickname: Hinami calls him "Flower Man" in side material.
* AgentPeacock: He may look like a ridiculous fop, but don't be fooled - he's one of the most influential and physically dangerous ghouls in Ward 20.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Nobody will blame you for seeing some homoerotic undertones in his behavior and how he gets close to Kaneki. There's also his rather blatant victim blaming of Kaneki, claiming that everything is his fault for being too irresistible; this is the same sort of logic rapists and rape apologists use.
* EasilyForgiven: Zigzagged. At first, it seems his past is readily forgiven by Kaneki....until he makes it clear that Tsukiyama will die if he steps out of line. Meanwhile, Touka and Nishiki continue to nurse grudges against him and warn Hinami about associating with the likes of Tsukiyama. [[spoiler: When Kaneki disbands his group, he refuses Tsukiyama's request to continue following him, stating that he does not trust him but he's a useful ally]].
* EyeScream: His introduction involves him tearing out a woman's eyes because he liked their color, and having them sauted for his consumption. Later, he becomes the victim of this trope when Touka ambushes him and slashes him across the face taking out both his eyes in the process.
* FingerTwitchingRevival: Chapter 46 concludes with two panels focused on his hand, and his fingers twitching slightly. It isn't until the Anteiku rescue team is put together that his survival is revealed.

* HeelFaceTurn: Played with. He agrees to participate in the mission to rescue Kaneki, and offers to become the "Sword" of Kaneki's group when he leaves Anteiku. However, it's entirely for the chance to remain close to him and eat him when the opportunity arises. [[spoiler: However, by the end he's genuinely come to care for Kaneki as more than simply a potential meal]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Because he is obsessed with Kaneki, he becomes instantly distracted from his surroundings when he sees Touka bite the other. His clothing also turns out to be impractical for combat since Nishio grabs onto his tie and holds him in place long enough for Touka to take out Tsukiyama's face and arm.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: His obsession with Kaneki grows after the Aogiri arc once Kaneki becomes even more deadly and cold hearted. He is delighted when Kaneki issues him a death threat.
* InterplayOfSexAndViolence: In a show where the strange intimacy of cannibalism is repeatedly drawn attention to, this guy proceeds to completely dispense with the subtlety. His attempts to groom Kaneki to be the perfect meal and his delighted anticipation of that moment (complete with PervertedSniffing of a stolen handkerchief) read more like something out of [[Literature/{{Lolita}} Humbert Humbert]]'s playbook than [[Literature/TheSilenceOfTheLambs Hannibal Lecter]]'s.

* JustJokingJustification: He frequently tries to cover up his actions by claiming them to be poor jokes, such as the incident at the Ghoul Restaurant or threatening to kill the Gas-mask trio.

* LickedByTheDog: He attempts to cultivate this trope by befriending Hinami, as one more way to get close to Kaneki. He seems to consider her a particularly charming pet, but she disagrees and seems to be one of the few people capable of putting him in his place.
* ObsessedWithFood: He is obsessed with fine dining and finding the right "parts" to turn into meals. In his first appearance in the manga we see him steal a woman's eyes to turn into a meal because he thought they were beautiful. He also participates in an underground restaurant that lures humans to become entertainment and food for ghouls.

* OldMoney: He belongs to an extremely wealthy and influential family that own an Import/Export business, with strong political ties within the Ghoul world as well as the Human one.

* PickyPeopleEater: He only takes the eyes of a beautiful young woman after complimenting them. This also serves to contrast him with Rize. While Rize will eat mostly anything, Tsukiyama will only eat specific people. His obsession with Kaneki comes from the way the other smells and the rarity of being a one eyed ghoul. Their differences is also why Tsukiyama actually disliked Rize despite giving Kaneki the impression that they were friends.
