* AdaptationalJerkass: While Spooky in the original comics and shorts was also a prankster with a love for scaring, he was on friendly terms with Casper, often acting like a mischievous younger brother that Casper would need to help keep in control. Here, Spooky is Casper's school bully, bordering on being TheRival, with Spooky picking on Casper specifically because he doesn't like to scare people.
* TheBully: To Casper, anyways.
* IdenticalStranger: Since they're never explicitly stated to be cousins in this show (unlike all of Spooky's other appearances), he and Casper come off as this.

* GeniusDitz: Fatso is prone to going off on odd tangents and is generally considered "the dumb one" in the Trio, but he has an encyclopedic knowledge of trivia and some of that is genuinely obscure, interesting or even useful.

to:

* DisguisedInDrag: While all of the Ghostly Trio engage in female disguises now and then, Fatso is frequently forced into crossdressing for the sake of humor, though he doesn't seem particularly bothered by it.
* GeniusDitz: Fatso is prone to going off on odd tangents and is generally considered "the dumb one" in the Trio, but he has an encyclopedic knowledge of trivia and some of that is genuinely obscure, interesting or even useful. This doesn't prevent him from being abused by Stretch and Stinky whenever he annoys them with it however.

to:

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Whilst Casper doesn't ''like'' to be scary, he is still a ghost and he does live with the Ghostly Trio, so when push comes to shove, he can be surprisingly terrifying when he has to be.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Of all his uncles' different tricks, Casper seems to be most adept at morphing himself into useful forms or even [[GameFace purposefully intimidating visages]].

* LIsForDyslexia: It's established in one episode that Stretch suffers from "ghostlexia", a dyslexia-inspired learning disability that impeded his efforts in haunting school so much that he never officially graduated -- which, considering that Stinky and ''Fatso'' graduated, gives some indication of how bad it was. He notes that this was in the days before the disability was formally recognized, so ghosts like himself were just considered "stupid" and "lazy". Despite this handicap, Stretch went on to become a very successful haunter, to the extent that his old teacher apologizes to him for misunderstanding him and gives him an honorary [=PHD=].

* {{Gasshole}}: Stinky is constantly burping.

Teacher at the local school for young ghosts. Object of lust for all three members of the Ghostly Trio.

Teacher at the local school for young ghosts. Object of lust for all three members of the Ghostly Trio. Infamous for her voice, and her tendency to start screaming at the top of her lungs -- sometimes in fury, sometimes unpredictably.

* {{Gasshole}}: In at least one episode, she's shown practicing a Stinky-inspired scare, gorging herself on a feast of vile foods before unleashing a massive, foul-smelling belch that makes Casper gag.
* HiddenDepths: Underneath that fluff, Poil can be surprisingly capable. In an episode revolving around a school spooking contest, she ''wins'' because she paid attention to the judge's video-lecture before the contest, in which he both revealed the simple maxim of spooking (study your victim, learn their fears, exploit them) and his own fear of fire. When it's her turn, she scares him with a flaming torch, quotes him, and is immediately declared the winner.

* HiddenDepths: Underneath that fluff, Poil can be surprisingly capable. In an episode revolving around a school spooking contest, the very first episode, "Spooking Bee", she ''wins'' the titular school event because she paid attention to the judge's video-lecture before the contest, in which he both revealed the simple maxim of spooking (study your victim, learn their fears, exploit them) and his own fear of fire. When it's her turn, she scares him with a flaming torch, quotes him, and is immediately declared the winner.

* EveryoneHatesFruitcake: Inverted. Dr. Harvey actually ''likes'' fruitcake, which scares even his ghostly housemates.

* EveryoneHatesFruitcake: EveryoneHatesFruitcakes: Inverted. Dr. Harvey actually ''likes'' fruitcake, which scares even his ghostly housemates.
* MellowFellow: Dr. Harvey is generally upbeat, optimistic and easy-going, despite the mockery, jeers, pranks and taunts that his efforts to psychoanalyze the Ghostly Trio get. It's very rare that he loses his temper.
* NiceGuy: Dr. Harvey is probably the flat-out nicest member of the cast.
* PetTheDog: Whilst the Ghostly Trio use his therapy sessions as an excuse to mock, tease and pull slapstick physical pranks on Dr. Harvey, his other clients, which include ghostly celebrities like the Grim Reaper and the Ghostfather, seem to genuinely appreciate and respect him.

Flatulent, foul-smelling and proud of both of it. The gross member of the Ghostly Trio.

* HiddenDepths: The season 3, episode 2 musical number "Cancion de Olor" establishes that Stinky knows Spanish. At least, all the words relating to anything that smells bad.

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationNameChange: In the comics, "Poil" was only Spooky's name for her, being her actual name -- Pearl -- filtered through his thick Brooklyn accent. In this cartoon, ''everybody'' calls her Poil, including herself.

Added DiffLines:

* DumbIsGood: Despite not being the smartest girl around, she's presented as being friendly, happy, and all-around pleasant to be around. She's arguably nicer than ''Casper'' is.

There's arguments to be made for a franchise wide character page, but there's enough unique about this take that I felt a series page was warranted.

Added DiffLines:

!!Residents of Whipstaff Manor
!!!Casper
The youngest ghost at Whipstaff Manor, known for his aversion to spooking people.
----
* AdaptationalJerkass: Whilst this incarnation of Casper still doesn't like spooking people, he's got way more of an edge than his classic cartoon and comic incarnations, being snarky and prone to jealousy.

!!!Kat Harvey
The daughter of Dr. James Harvey, a teenage girl trying to make it in a new town despite living in the local haunted house.
----
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: She's much snarkier than she was in the original film, and her relationship with Casper is more VitriolicBestBuds, with lots of SnarkToSnarkCombat.

!!!Dr. James Harvey
A psychologist for ghosts who doggedly presses on in his quest, despite most ghosts finding him more amusing than anything.
----
* EveryoneHatesFruitcake: Inverted. Dr. Harvey actually ''likes'' fruitcake, which scares even his ghostly housemates.

!!!Stretch
The leader of the Ghostly Trio, renowned for his shapeshifting abilities.
----
* LeanAndMean: Stretch is the most slender of the Ghostly Trio, and he's also the nastiest, bullying the others into submission.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: All ghosts can morph to some degree, but Stretch is considered a master of the art.

!!!Stinky
Flatulent, foul-smelling and proud of both of it. The gross member of the Ghostly Trio.
----
* {{Fartillery}}: Stinky's primary method of spooking is belching at people, with his burps being obscenely loud and nauseatingly foul-smelling.

!!!Fatso
The dimmest but also the most jovial of the Ghostly Trio.
----
* BigEater: Fatso loves to eat. It doesn't matter that whatever he eats goes right through him, he'll just eat it again.
* BigFun: He may be portly, but he's also the most laidback, fun-loving and easygoing member of the Trio. He has a cruel streak, but he enjoys singing, dancing, playing music and just enjoying himself.
* GeniusDitz: Fatso is prone to going off on odd tangents and is generally considered "the dumb one" in the Trio, but he has an encyclopedic knowledge of trivia and some of that is genuinely obscure, interesting or even useful.
* HiddenDepths: Fatso genuinely loves art and music, and even manages to impress Miss Banshee with his knowledge on the topics for a time.

!!Ghost School
!!!Miss Banshee
Teacher at the local school for young ghosts. Object of lust for all three members of the Ghostly Trio.
----
* MeaningfulName: She's called "Miss Banshee" because she's a female ghost who is prone to breaking out impossibly loud shrieks.
* OurBansheesAreLouder: She is capable of shrieking with such force that the volume/wind from her lungs can shatter glass and blow people away like gale-force winds.

!!!Spooky
An arrogant but skilled young ghost, iconic for his freckles and bowler hat, who looks down on Casper for his aversion to spooking.
----
* UnrelatedInTheAdaptation: He and Casper were cousins in the comics, but there's no mention of that here.

!!!Poil
A dimwitted, friendly and easygoing young female ghost who is probably Casper's only real ghostly friend, and also is absolutely smitten with Spooky.
----
* AdaptationalDumbass: In the comics, Poil was a very intelligent girl who loved reading, but in the series, she's portrayed as a DumbBlonde type.
* TheDitz: Poil is notably scatterbrained and often misinterprets things, especially if this would lead to her causing Spooky problems. A notable example is a short where she and Spooky are discussing how Spooky can get in good with Miss Banshee, and she proceeds to first steal some of Miss Banshee's things and give them to Spooky, and then she brings Miss Banshee to Spooky, who is caught redhanded with the stuff Poil stole.
* DumbBlonde: She has long blonde hair, and she really isn't the smartest member of the cast.
