* IWasJustPassingThrough: He claims he only [[spoiler:saved Elulu from being sacrificed]] because he needs her to carry his stuff, but doing so means he's taking a huge risk due to lacking [[spoiler:Igzasion]]. The fact that he's willing to compromise on his philosophy for Elulu shows that he cares more than he lets on.

* NoNonsenseNemesis: He uses Chain Destruction in an attempt to kill the real souls of any hero or god who opposes him, preventing them from ever returning to impede him and acting as a deterrent against further divine interference.
* NooneCouldSurviveThat: [[spoiler:Despite Valhalla's Gate being touted as a skill that can destroy anything, including beings who can defy the laws of reality, the Demon Lord manages to barely escape one gate.]]
* TakingYouWithMe: He has the ability to destroy the entire world with his Judgement Zero skill, and only uses it when Seiya reduces him to a skeleton.

* AxCrazy: She takes joy in killing a random villager and gushes over their blood.
* HostageSituation: When Seiya and Rista flee to the gods' realm, she takes people in Edona hostage and threatens to kill one every ten minutes if they don't come back.
* KickTheDog: She [[ILied shortens the time]] for Seiya and Rista to return before she kills the next hostage, and nearly kills a man in front of his daughter.
* KnightOfCerebus: The story starts out lighthearted and treats Seiya's cautiousness as a gag. However, the situation becomes dire when she arrives, as not only is she a credible threat to the hero, she's also an example of how ruthless and sadistic the demons can be, as shown by how she takes the starting town hostage. Despite Seiya curbstomping her in the end, her actions establish that the mission to save Gaeabrande is not to be taken lightly, and she sets the pace for the other demon generals' vileness.
* OneWingedAngel: When Seiya proves to be a match for her normal form, she transforms into a gigantic bullish demon with more than three times her original stats. Fortunately, it turns out Seiya was hiding his true strength too.
* StarterVillain: She's the first general encountered by Seiya and has the lowest stats, even in her bull form.

A demon general who specializes in creating and controlling monsters.

* ArmchairMilitary: He prefers to let his army of monsters fight on his behalf.
* KickTheDog: He tortures and attempts to kill Mash in order to get back at Seiya, who destroyed his army of undead. There was no practical reason to do so, as he simply wanted Seiya to be wracked with guilt.
* NoSell: He summons Dark Firus, a fire monster designed specifically to nullify physical attacks, as well as all the elements Seiya can use. It can only be damaged by using Oscillatory Wave, a pugilist skill, to upset its molecular structure before hitting it with ice magic. Fortunately, Deathmagla gloats about all these weaknesses believing Seiya won't be able to use the necessary skills, only to be proven wrong.
* StupidEvil: He sends a magic mirror to Seiya so that the latter can watch him kill Mash. He doesn't realize doing so allows a very pissed-off hero to track him down and cut him with a very long-ranged skill.

A high-ranking insect demon who specializes in speed and aerial combat.

* AlmightyJanitor: He's not one of the four generals, but he's still a deadly enough opponent that Seiya had to go back to the gods' realm to train.
* AxCrazy: He and his minions' favorite tactic is to grab humans, fly to deadly heights, and drop them on the ground while bragging about the ensuing gore.
* FragileSpeedster: His agility stat is 487562, allowing him to dodge Seiya's arrows easily. However, his HP is only 18963 and his other stats are in the quadruple digits despite being at level 76, meaning he dies easily if he's actually hit.
* InTheBack: He thinks he can easily kill Seiya in aerial combat due to his speed. While he manages to dodge a volley of arrows from Seiya, he didn't expect the arrows to return and attack him from behind.
* UnhandThemVillain: When Rista demands that he lets Rosalie go, he agrees by attempting to throw her towards the ground at a speed such that Rista can't catch her. Fortunately, Seiya shoots his arm off before he can do so.

* EnemySummoner: He summons an adamantite turtle to destroy the adamantite armor, preventing Seiya from maximizing his defenses. He then summons Krosde Thanatus, a NighInvulnerable foe who can follow the party back to the gods' realm.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He's calm and polite towards the party, and doesn't act different from [[spoiler:when he was a friendly shopkeeper]]. However, Rista notes that there's madness lurking beneath his small smile, [[spoiler:and he's willing to kill his village and loved ones to support the Demon Lord]].
* KillTheOnesYouLove: [[spoiler:He sacrifices his family, and then himself, to summon Thanatus. He claims his family accepted their deaths.]]
* TheyLookJustLikeEveryoneElse: [[spoiler:He's the dwarf shopkeeper of Izale Village, and flies under the party's radar the first time they meet him.]]
* TheUnfought: He's never directly fought, since he sacrifices his life to summon Krosde Thanatus.

However, the Valkyrie does gain enough respect for Seiya to teach him [[spoiler:Valhalla's Gate]] and is touched by his determination to save Gaeabrande.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Valhalla's Gate takes a major physical toll on the user, which is why she buffs herself as much as possible before using that skill.

* UnhandThemVillain: When Rista demands that he lets Rosalie go, he agrees by attempting to throw her towards the ground at a speed that Rista can't catch her. Fortunately, Seiya shoots his arm off before he can do so.

** When trying to convince Seiya to recruit the dragonkin siblings, the latter states they wouldn't be much help in combat. Listarte states that they can be used as key-items to get past any obstacle that requires their lineage, but the siblings are offended to be considered "items."

After Seiya saves him and invites him to carry his bags, Mash does a 180 and becomes one of Seiya's most loyal followers. He also adopts Seiya's cautious methodology in order to emulate him.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGod: She's normally a prime example of a JerkassGod, since she often threatens deities and heroes that annoy her and has a habit of groping her female colleagues. However, the Valkyrie does gain enough respect for Seiya to teach him [[spoiler:Valhalla's Gate]] and is touched by his determination to save Gaeabrande.

A veteran goddess of sealing, who saved over three hundred worlds.

* MrFanservice: The manga and anime feature many shots of him working out while [[ShirtlessScene shirtless]], and he's ripped in each one.

* ProperlyParanoid: Despite the title claiming he's overly cautious, the demons are crafty and powerful enough to warrant his countermeasures. This is shown when the first demon general attacked him while he was traveling in a low-level plain, which would have resulted in his death if he didn't take several days to exercise in the gods' realm beforehand.

* WhiteMagicianGirl: Downplayed. She specializes in healing and usually means well, but she can also be petty in dealing with Seiya.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He's very insulting towards his allies, is suspicious of every new person he meets, and can come off as callous to others' feelings, but he's firmly dedicated to protecting his friends and saving the world, in that order. [[spoiler:At the end of the first volume, he chooses to save Elulu despite losing the opportunity to gain Igzasion. Near the end of the first arc, it's revealed that he's cautious more for others' sakes than his own, due to his past recklessness getting his party killed.]]

* ArrogantKungFuGuy: He makes it clear to his allies that he doesn't need them for combat, just for carrying his stuff, since he's strong enough to handle most situations by himself.

* TragedyOfImpulsiveness: [[spoiler:When Aria summoned him to Exfolia, Seiya tried to defeat the demon army as quickly as possible so that the people of the world won't have to suffer longer than necessary. While he has noble intentions, his lack of preparation gets him and his party killed by Exfolia's Demon Lord.]]
