Then there are her adoptive parents. While her adoptive father has dedicated himself to bringing down both her father and her grandfather, her adoptive mother was kidnapped and ReforgedIntoAMinion by her father, becoming a PersonOfMassDestruction in the process. It is a miracle that circumstances aligned so that Sylvie would turn out better than anyone else in her family]].

* OrcRaisedByElves: [[spoiler:Sylvie is an Asura who is descended from two of the most powerful Asura clans in the setting. However, the Asuras are JerkassGods, and among the Asuras [[GodAndSatanAreBothJerks both sides of her family]] are the most reprehensible as they are responsible for much of the suffering in the story. Her father's side of the family are the Vritra, a faction of corruptive EvilutionaryBiologist[=s=] who seek to wage war on the rest of the Asuras for [[FallenAngel exiling them]]. Her mother's side of the family are the Indrath, a faction of draconic KnightTemplar[=s=] who are willing to commit genocide for what they perceive as the greater good, and caused the Vritra's StartOfDarkness when they exiled them for discovering the atrocities they committed. While Sylvie's mother was the TokenHeroicOrc among her clan, her father orchestrated the assassination of her mother, which caused the egg containing the unborn Sylvie to fall into the hands of the human Arthur Leywin whom her mother was fostering at the time. When Sylvie finally hatched, she was raised by Arthur and the elven princess Tessia Eralith and came to view both as her AdoptivePeerParent[=s=]. Due to being raised away from the influence of either side of her biological family, Sylvie grew to identify more with her foster father and his people over her own WarringNatures, becoming the WhiteSheep of both clans. After learning the full truth of her heritage, Sylvie feels no kinship with either clan for the atrocities they have both committed, even going so far as to [[FamilyOfChoice declare herself]] Sylvie ''Leywin'' rather than Sylvie Indrath]]
* ParadoxPerson: The end of Volume 10 reveals [[spoiler:that after her Heroic Sacrifice to save Arthur at the end of Volume 7, Sylvie's soul was displaced across time and space which allowed her to observe the entirety of Arthur's past life as King Grey. As this would lead to Grey being ReforgedIntoAMinion, Sylvie realized at that moment that she had to be the one to intervene to ensure Grey would reincarnate as Arthur and not as one of Agrona's servants. She managed to wrest Grey's soul away from Agrona's grasp and take it to the Leywin family to be reincarnated into Arthur. Afterwards, Sylvie returned to the egg containing her unborn self where she waited until Arthur managed to restore her physical form. In doing so, she created a StableTimeLoop that ensured both she and Arthur would end up opposing Agrona in the future rather than becoming his servants]].

[[NatureVersusNurture As a result]], Sylvie was raised away from the influence of either clan and has avoided being indoctrinated into the ideology of either, having borne witness to the worst atrocities of both clans and remaining firm to her adoptive father and his people who have suffered much at their hands. While she is committed to helping her adoptive father bring down both the Indrath and Vritra, she hates the latter more as the Vritra were not only responsible for murdering her mother but for invading and conquering Arthur's homeland of Dicathen (on top of killing much of her adoptive father's friends and family, including turning her adoptive mother and Arthur's LoveInterest Tessia Eralith [[GrandTheftMe into the vessel]] [[ReforgedIntoAMinion for the Legacy]]). She is also willing to leverage her position as Kezess's granddaughter when it comes to dealing with the Indrath and the rest of the Asuras, which is especially useful when Arthur learns Kezess has occupied Dicathen under the pretext of protection while Arthur was in the aether realm for two months trying to bring her back. Case in point, when she and her adoptive father come across some of the dragons her grandfather has sent down to Dicathen, she defends him with her authority when one of them is hostile towards Arthur and orders said dragon to back off or face the consequences]].
