Missing Mom: His mother is implied to have been dead for a while.
Nice Guy: He’s compassionate and sensible. Unfortunately, this doesn’t help him win over Valerie and bites him in the ass when he’s unable to protect his father from the Wolf.
Took a Level in Badass: By the end of the film. In addition to finding the courage to stand up for himself and fight the Wolf, in the end he leaves to become a monster hunter.
