Unlike War Cry, Victory Cry does not reset Hate, so you still have to start inflicting damage to get your enemies' attention.

Nobody really plays FI/TE anymore. And HU/FO is Awesome But Impractical regardless of your weapon.

** Can be done by maining a Hunter and subclassing a Force or Techer, allowing you to cast Techniques while wielding a {{BFS}}. The mileage you get, however, isn't very much as they generally have very low T-ATK stat to work with, making this AwesomeButImpractical. On the other hand, there are swords, partizans, and wire lances that ''do'' have T-ATK, making it possible to play this way.
*** Maining a Fighter and subbing either Force or Techer is possible as well, since there are several Fighter passives that boost physical damage based on whether your opponents are under the influence of a status effect, as well as the Adrenaline passive that improves the lasting power of Deband and Shifta. Tech Arts JA Bonus further reinforces this, by granting a damage boost for integrating Techniques in your combo alongside Photon Artes. By building the subclass to focus on inflicting status effects, player can become a fast hitter that can use Techs to inflict status effects on groups of enemies and then take them out with strengthened physical attacks and Photon Arts.

A list of characters in ''VideoGame/PhantasyStarOnline2'' belonging to the ARKS organisation or otherwise living on the Oracle [[ColonyShip colony fleet]]. To return to the main character index, click [[Characters/PhantasyStarOnline2 here]].

ARKS (Artificial Relict to Keep Species) is a private organisation based on the Oracle colony fleet, which houses over one hundred million residents. Their official mission is to act as a first-contact force for new planets, assessing its worth for possible colonisation while defending themselves from hostile natives or terrain. However, their secondary purpose (and the true reason for their founding) is to combat the "Darkers", an EldritchAbomination race that infect and corrupt every living being and planet they come across. The members of the ARKS are chosen for their ability to control and wield "Photons", an energy source that acts as the antithesis to Darker cells and grants each ARKS a resistance to their corruption. [[spoiler:It is later revealed that the first ARKS were artificial creations of the Photoners, who lost their ability to wield photons following their battle against The Profound Darkness and needed something to fight the Darkers in their stead]].

While "ARKS" is the name of the organization as a whole, the term can also be used to describe its operatives.

[[folder:ARKS Members]]
!!PlayerCharacter

The main character of the game, who begins as a new recruit of the ARKS organization and whose fate is irreversibly changed when he/she is caught in the middle of a Darker attack during their final graduation exam.

* ActionGirl: Female players, of course.
* AerithAndBob: Can be invoked by players, this being an MMO.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Averted for Humans and Newmans, who are restricted to a realistic skin tone range. Deumans can select from red to blue, and [=CASTs=] can pick any color they want.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: [[spoiler: In Episode 3, it's revealed that destroying so many Darkers, especially Elder and Loser, has caused the player to absorb a very unhealthy amount of negative photons (Xiao even references your [[PaintingTheMedium in-game kill count]] to drive the point home) and advised against destroying any more before hitting critical mass. Unfortunately, the player and Matoi are the only ones capable of stopping Double, who realizes and exploits this by unleashing his own stockpile of negative photons into the player. Were it not for a last-ditch save from Matoi, they would've fully ceased being human and became the Profound Darkness.]]
* AnInteriorDesignerIsYou: The [=MyRoom=] feature.
* AnimeHair: With Hairstyle Tickets, you can pick up some truly ridiculous hairstyles, like the Upstyle Pony.
* {{Artificial Human}}oid: Deumans. [[spoiler:They were created when Hadred's body tissue was sent to the past after he was killed, allowing the 1st Generation ARKS to perform research on him.]]
* ArrestedForHeroism: [[spoiler:You're effectively sentenced to death for trying to save the ARKS. Justified because the Three Heroes don't know how Luther factors into everything, and they're working off falsified information from Luther himself.]]
** [[spoiler: Xiao later tries a much less severe version (confining you to your ship) because the massive number of Darkers you have killed (read: absorbed) puts you in danger of becoming the Profound Darkness. Xiao actually quotes your exact kill count to illustrate his point.]]
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: At the start of Episode 4 you get promoted to "Guardian", an elite rank ''especially made for you and [[spoiler:Matoi]]''. You're essentially promoted out of the typical ARKS hierarchy and work directly for Xiao; this gives you rank but none of the responsibility and paperwork, leaving you free to remain as a field agent and personally handle the really important missions. As part of the deal, you get Xiela as your personal Operator.
* BadassTeacher: How [[spoiler:Young Zeno]] sees you.
* BigDamnHeroes:
** You get a moment with Maria and Sarah when [[spoiler:you travel back in time and save Zeno from getting killed by Elder.]]
** You also arrive in time to protect Sarah from [[spoiler:a Loser clone]].
** When Hitsugi is attacked by a Phantom, you travel through ''Phantasy Star Online 2'' to save her and Aru from being killed. This inadvertently leads to the discovery of Earth.
* {{Bokukko}}: Female player characters can be this, as there are some voice tickets that utilize masculine pronouns in some of their lines.
* BoobsOfSteel: Any female PlayerCharacter with a large chest, of which there are no shortage.
* BoxingBattler: Fighting with Knuckles gives you moves that are very boxer-like. Jabs, uppercuts, you even swerve to dodge.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Depending on the outfit you equip your character with, you can certainly give this impression. You can save the universe while literally wearing bunny ears, or even a full GoofySuit.
* CombatMedic: The Techer class' skill tree focuses on giving an extra kick in Resta, Shifta, and Deband, but this certainly does not stop them from hitting the front lines. They have skills (Wand Gear, Wand Lovers, and Wand Reactor) that aid in their close combat ability, and the class statistically have more striking power and defense when compared to the Force.
* CriticalStatusBuff: Fighters excel in this, with a myriad of powerful buff skills activating when their HP or PP falls below a certain threshold, or they are afflicted with a status condition. LimitBreak can invoke this directly by dropping the Fighter to 25% maximum HP temporarily, and as it counts as a status condition, [[AllYourPowersCombined this can activate at least half of the buff skills on the tree at the same time.]]
* {{Cyborg}}: The original [=CASTs=] were once Humans or Newmans who were effectively "dismantled" and had the majority of their body mass replaced with bionics. This is generally applied to people with great Photon capability such as Regius or Maria, whose mortal bodies could not bear the stress caused by the Photons. Because they still have a small portion of organic matter, [[InterspeciesRomance they can reproduce with other races]] by having their DNA extracted from their remaining living tissue and artificially combined with the DNA of another person. However, the conversion process is not perfect, and handily explains why a lot of [=CASTs=] in ARKS have personality quirks. [[spoiler:The ARKS have even been known to forcefully "recruit" talented subjects by [[UnwillingRoboticization converting them into Casts]]]].
** Aesthetically, non-Casts can wear Cast "Looks" like a costume to masquerade as one. Conversely, Casts have several clothing options that make them more human-like in appearance. Anything above the neck for both cases is left intact, whether it's a Human head or a Cast head.
* DeathDealer: The Talis weapons are thrown cards, enabling Forces and Techers to be this. Heck, there's a Weapon Camo that ''is'' an actual deck of cards.
* {{Determinator}}: With a certain skill learned, Hunters can gain temporary invincibility and a massive S-ATK buff for a limited time after [[LastChanceHitPoint Iron Will]] activates. The name of this skill? ''Never Give Up.''
* DialogueTree: This is how you interact with the characters in cutscenes. Sometimes it can change the route you're headed to, depending on the response.
* DistaffCounterpart: Sometimes the AC Scratches re-release older clothing, but tailored to fit the opposite gender instead. With the right character build, it's possible to have your character pass as the opposite gender as a result.
* DuelingPlayerCharacters: Occurs anytime someone faces a Clone of another player.
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:Midway through Chapter 3 Episode 4, ''Dark Falz Elder'' puts on a BigDamnHeroes moment when Double sics some Loser and Apprentice clones on your party. He then allies with you as a partner in the ensuing fight.]]
** [[spoiler:The next chapter follows suit, when you and Matoi are consumed by Double. As it turns out, ''Luther'' is also stuck in the same dilemma that you and Matoi are facing, and with nowhere else to turn, you and Matoi let him join as the GuestStarPartyMember.]]
* ExoticEyeDesigns: The Deuman have the spiral pupils available to them. The plethora of eye pattern unlocks that give the character these also qualify. Flowers, stars, swirls, you name it. Can overlap with MarkOfTheSupernatural.
* FiveRaces: Four, rather. Players may choose from the following four races (the number is subject to change).
** [[HumansAreAverage Humans]] are balanced and considered to be the JackOfAllStats.
** [[SpaceElves Newmans]] are the {{Squishy Wizard}}s, boasting high T-ATT but low HP.
** [[ArtificialHuman CASTs]] have high HP, S-ATT, and R-ATT, but suffer in T-ATT and T-DEF.
** Deumans have overall high ATT, but low HP like a Newman.
* FriendlyFire: It's possible for this to happen between players if one or both are affected by Panic. The damage is low enough to prevent it from actually killing people, though.
* GlassCannon: Deumans have physical strength exceeding even that of a CAST ''and'' technical aptitude second only to Newmans, but are just as frail as [[SquishyWizard the latter]].
* TheGunslinger: Gunner-class players can fight with Twin Machineguns, hoping around and popping off shots like a John Woo character.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Male characters have slightly higher melee attack, while females have higher ranged and tech attack. The difference is tiny enough to be irrelevant to all but the most dedicated of [[{{Minmaxing}} minmaxers]], though.
* HelloInsertNameHere: Text dialogue uses your player name when needed, but any speech refers you as "you", "partner" (by Afin), "senpai" (by Io), or "leader" (by Gene and More).
* HeroicMime: You don't talk in cutscenes. When you do, it's silent and only in-universe characters hear you. Outside of cutscenes, though, your Voice Ticket determines your lines, if you want to pretend to be [[VisualNovel/FateStayNight Saber]] or something.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:In Episode 3 Chapter 5, you push Sukunahime out of the way right before Double can consume her. However, this causes you and Matoi to get consumed instead and sucked into a PocketDimension where the two of you are forced to forge an uneasy partnership with [[EnemyMine Luther]].]]
* HornedHumanoid: The Deuman race naturally has horns. The males have only one horn, while females have two, making the race similar to oni. Much like a Newman's PointyEars, the Deuman's horn acts as a receptor for Photons.
** Horns can also be bought and worn as accessories by any race.
* HumanPopsicle: You enter Cold Sleep during the [[TimeSkip two-year internim]] between Episode 3 and Episode 4.
* [[FighterMageThief Hunter, Ranger, Force]]: You can be of any class in the game: [[MightyGlacier Hunter]], [[CloseRangeCombatant Fighter]], [[GunFu Ranger]], [[GunsAkimbo Gunner]], [[SquishyWizard Force]], [[MagicKnight Techer]], [[BowAndSwordInAccord Braver]], or [[MechanicallyUnusualFighter Bouncer]]. (It's noted that the ability to switch freely in this manner is an ability that only the newer ARKS tend to have.)
** PrestigeClass: [[CloseRangeCombatant Fighter]], [[GunsAkimbo Gunner]] and [[MagicKnight Techer]] were originally advanced classes that had to be unlocked by reaching Lv.30 in Hunter, Ranger or Force respectively. When the Episode 3 update rolled around, this condition was removed.
* IShallTauntYou: Hunters can get the War Cry ability that draws the enemies' aggro to them. This is good since Hunters have a ''much'' easier time aiming for enemies that aren't frantically chasing someone else, or he can just be a very effective tank while his allies lay waste to his oppressors, both cases usually leading to [[WalkingDisasterArea huge amounts of monster corpses around him]]...
* IaijutsuPractitioner: Everyone who uses a katana-type weapon fights with a style akin to Iaijutsu. Averted if the player is using a sword-type weapon that resembles a katana (i.e. one of the options for Soul Blade Yukihime, Saku Sakura, Momjihime.)
* ImplausibleBoardingSkills: The Photon Art Ride Slasher allows you to [[RuleOfCool surf on your Sword]]. Let us remind you that the Sword weapon class also consists of the Space Tuna, the Ruins Charm or Ruins Gloam 10★ swords, which is a LaserBlade, ''christmas trees'', and umbrellas, to name a few.
** The Wave Board Sword was designed specifically to abuse this trope. It allows ''any'' player to use Ride Slasher, even characters that don't have Hunter as a main or sub class!
* InformedEquipment: The Units that function as your armor can be hidden at will. There are also "Weapon Camos" that you can equip if you don't like how your weapon of choice looks.
* ItsUpToYou: In story missions, the player does everything, because frankly, [[ArtificialStupidity your allies suck.]] If you die, have fun starting from the beginning[[note]]Unless the chapter has checkpoints[[/note]]!
* KickChick: Any female character that fights with jet boots qualifies. The Bouncer promotional art has the female showing off the jet boots, too.
* LastChanceHitPoint: Hunters can get a skill called "Iron Will" that, at max level, has a 75% chance of leaving you at 1 HP after what would normally be a fatal hit.
* LightningBruiser: Fighter and Bravers with katanas are this, boasting high S-ATK and several skills and Photon Arts that attack fast, but their short range often puts them at risk.
* LittleBitBeastly: Deumans have horns. This can also be evoked by certain outfits or accessories (cat ears, bunny ears, etc.)
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Several katana-type weapons have large shields for scabbards.
* MagicKnight:
** Techers were designed with this in mind, but with more "Magic" and less "Knight". Most of their skill tree focuses on boosting Support Technics and elements that the Force tree doesn't cover, but with Wand Gear, Techers can augment their physical strikes with Technic bursts, allowing them to attack enemies head-on. If set up correctly, this can extend to ''Forces'' as well, with a Techer subclass.
** The Bouncer class is very weird about this. While both Jet Boots and Dual Blades can use Technics, Dual Blades users place less emphasis on their Magic and more Knight. Jet Boots, however, turn this into a style by using Technics to augment their game, striking and casting simultaneously. Additionally, Jet Boots wielders can switch between Magic and Knight modes with Switch Strike, which changes the dominant stat used in damage.
* MulticoloredHair: Depending on the hairstyle equipped, it's possible to have dual-colored hair a la Quna or Sukunahime.
* NextTierPowerUp: During the [[TimeSkip internim]] between Episodes 3 and 4, Xiao gave you the power to purify corrupted Photons, an ability previously limited to the Clarissa.
* OneHitKill: If you have to kill mooks in a cutscene, you kill them in this fashion, ''barehanded.''
* PlayerHeadquarters:
** Each player receives their own room to [[AnInteriorDesignerIsYou personalize]].
** And then there's the Team Rooms, which are actually personal spaceships. At certain levels, the leader can spend Team Points to change the ship's music or temporarily park the ship in a hot spring, a forest base, or a even private beach.
* PointyEars: Newmans, being SpaceElves, have these. These were originally designed to gather Photons at a higher rate of frequency than regular Humans, but by the 3rd Generation of ARKS, Photon research for Humans has advanced enough that the difference in Photon abilities between Humans and Newmans is largely irrelevant. They're also said to constantly twitch and move, which cannot be represented in-game.
* TheProtagonist
* PurelyAestheticGender: Stat-wise, the differences between male and female characters are negligible. This extends to races, as well: any race can excel at any class, even [=CASTs=] as Forces and Techers.
* RummageSaleReject: Due to how many costumes and accessories there are, you can make your character fashion train wreck if you wish. The clothing layering system only adds more potential to have horribly mismatching ensembles.
* ScrewDestiny: Your goal.
* SmallGirlBigGun: Can be invoked by players by being a really short female Ranger with an Assault Rifle or Launcher almost twice their size.
* StanceSystem: Melee-oriented classes can use Stances to alter and enhance their abilities. For instance:
** Hunters can use Fury Stance (increase attack while decreasing defense) and Guard Stance (increasing defense while decreasing offense).
** Fighters can use Brave Stance (increase damage inflicted from the front while decreasing damage inflicted from behind) and Wise Stance (increase damage inflicted from behind while decreasing damage inflicted from the front).
** Bravers can use Average Stance (increases damage in general, though not to the same degree as other stances) and Weak Stance (increase damage inflicted upon weakpoints while decreasing damage to other parts of the body).
** Bouncers can use Break Stance (increases damage inflicted on breakable body parts while decreasing damage inflicted elsewhere) and Elemental Stance (increases damage from exploiting elemental weaknesses while decreasing damage from other elements).
* TechnicolorEyes: Eye color can be any color of the spectrum. Can possibly overlap with PurpleEyes if desired.
* TimeTravel: [[spoiler:An ability you gain from Xiao in Episode 2.]]
* TrapMaster: Rangers are the only ones that can utilize traps, and can see other traps in the area.
* VagueAge: Your character's age can be ANY age you wish it to be. Young adult? Yep. Little girl or boy? That's possible. A BadassGrandpa? Go ahead!
* UnlimitedWardrobe: With the plethora of costumes and layer-based ensembles available to players, they can invoke this.
* VirtualPaperDoll: The customization is ''incredibly'' detailed, with tons of options to try out. Want to be [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Homura Akemi]] with [[Franchise/ShiningSeries the voice of Yukihime]] wielding [[Manga/AttackOnTitan Ultra-Hard Blades?]] If you so desire!
* VocalDissonance: Since you dictate what your character sounds like, you can easily invoke this. Whether it's a man with a premature boy's voice, a woman talking like a ''lilipan'', or a girl with '''[[UpToEleven a grown man's voice]]''', you decide.
* WeaponOfChoice: If Episode 4 is of any indication, the Coat Doublis, the Title Reward you acquire from achieving OneHundredPercentCompletion on Matter Board 3-7, is your canon weapon.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: If the player wears one of the few costumes available to both genders despite being originally designed to be gender-exclusive. While some of the outfits are fairly unisex in appearance (such as Haze Sorcerer/Sorceress,) others are gendered enough to count toward this trope (such as Wonder Seeker and [[Franchise/{{Neptunia}} IF and Uzume Uranus's]] outfits.)
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: By that we mean ''any'' hair color.

* MagicKnight: Episode 3 Echo's class settings is Force / Hunter, and carries both a Rod and a Gunslash. Since Force is her main class, she is moreso Magic than Knight.
* OnceAnEpisode: Echo is so far the only character to change outfits at the start of every Episode, starting with her initial Force attire "Ballistic Coat", then her Zeno-themed Hunter attire "Raid Sfdia" for Episode 2, then switching to a Zeno-themed Force outfit "Magia Savior" for Episode 3. WordOfGod states that this was meant to represent her evolution as a character.
* PowerLimiter: Limits herself by changing class to Hunter despite the fact that she lacks the photon affinity for it.
* RedIsHeroic: Played with. Her Raid Sfida and Magia Savior bear Zeno's red-and-white color scheme, but she takes a backseat to many other characters, but is still heroic. Justified since they were designed to be patterned after Zeno's colors.
* SempaiKohai: She and Zeno are your sempai. She even wonders if you're REALLY a rookie when you S-Rank a mission with her along.
* ShockAndAwe: Zonde-type technics is her element of choice.
* TakeUpMySword: In Episode 2 she becomes a Hunter despite lacking the photon affinity and personal disposition to do so. [[spoiler:She goes back on it after Zeno returns as a Council of Six member, receiving a new outfit but restoring her position as a Force.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: Subverted, she goes through all the usual motions but as a Hunter she just can't keep up with everyone else. Justified in that her photons are most suited for support roles and as a Hunter she is way out of her element.
* TrainingFromHell: She forces herself through this in an attempt to keep up with Zeno. Several of her Client Orders involve you helping her out in this.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Again, she does yell at Zeno now and then and is usually the one that starts it. Still good friends with him.
* WeaponOfChoice: Rods as a Force, Swords as a Hunter.

!!Afin
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_afin_1472.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HiroShimono

The partner to the PlayerCharacter within ARKS. He is not very enthusiastic about fighting on the front lines as a member of ARKS, yet continues to do so in order to "find" someone. As a newbie ARKS (and the first person to give you Client Orders), [[JustifiedTutorial his missions have you accomplish very simple tasks related to basic gameplay elements]].

In Episode 2, you discover that [[spoiler:Afin is looking for his older sister, Euclita, who vanished ten years ago when Darkers raided an ARKS ship. He realises that Euclita has become the new Dark Falz Apprentice, and vows to find a way to cure her]].

In Episode 3, he continues his crusade to [[spoiler:bring his sister back.]] Through repeated encounters in the Mines and a little support from you and his friends, [[spoiler:he finally gets through to Euclita and helps to purge enough of her Dark Falz power to return her to (relative) normality]].

* TheEveryman: The quintessential unremarkable rookie character.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:Confirming that his sister is Apprentice's current body hit him pretty hard.]]
* IWillFindYou: The reason he joined ARKS. [[spoiler:That person he's looking for is Euclita, his sister and Dark Falz Apprentice's current body.]]
* ImageSong: ''Shiny Shiny rainbow''.
* NonActionGuy: While he ''can'' fight well enough, he doesn't particularly like to.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Wears blue to contrast his sister's red.
* WeaponOfChoice: Assault Rifles.
* ZettaiRyouiki: A rare male example in his second outfit, Exvilantz. It only shows on his left leg, but it helps that he wears rather short shorts.

!!Quna
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_quna_8525.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/EriKitamura

An IdolSinger who acts as the poster girl for ARKS, performing various songs to raise morale and spread propaganda. While off duty, she may be found at the top level of the Shop Area, where she has a few special requests for players seeking a challenge.

Later on, [[spoiler:it is revealed she is actually the secret "0th" member of the Council of Six, and the last surviving member of the infamous "Death Squad"; her career as an IdolSinger being a front for her to freely move between the Oracle ships and gather information. While on field missions, she transforms into Zelsius Quna, a Twin Dagger-wielding warrior with the power to turn invisible at the cost of her lifespan]].

She plays a less significant role in Episode 2, where she mainly uses her connections within ARKS to investigate things at your request. At the climax of the episode, [[spoiler:she works with Casra II to hack into the Central Research Department and expose all of Luther's dirty secrets, including how he manipulated the ARKS. This works to turn the Three Heroes against Luther and undo the {{Brainwashing}} caused by the Absolute Order invoked by Regius. She eventually catches up with your team at the Mothership's core and joins in battle against the newly-born Falz Angel]].

* AllThereInTheManual: [[spoiler:Zelsius Quna's name is never given in-game; she is simply referred to as "Quna".]]
* BackgroundMusicOverride: When she appears in the Level Up Quest, an instrumental mix of ''Our Fighting - Ver.MIYABI'' replaces the background music.
* CastFromLifespan: Barely elaborated on, but it's mentioned that [[spoiler:Quna's invisibility power consumes a great number of photons, enough to have serious long-term effects on her health]].
* CombatHandFan: The paper fans she uses when performing ''Neverending Story'' are available to players as a 12★ Talis.
* DemotedToExtra: The finale chapters of Episode 1 are her DayInTheLimelight; after that, her role in any story content going forward is reduced to absolute bare minimum.
* GirlishPigtails: Prominently sports them, and they're [[MulticoloredHair multicolored]], to boot.
* HealingPotion: [[spoiler:Zelsius Quna is one of the few Partners who actually use Mates. As she only uses Trimates, you can see how much HP Partners actually have, capping at over 10,000.]]
* IdentityAmnesia: It is implied that she has no memories of her time before joining ARKS. [[spoiler:This is a big reason for why she is so devoted to her work, feeling that her entire identity lies as a member of the Death Squad]].
* IdolSinger: She performs as part of the story, and in scheduled game events. You can buy her singles both in-game (as tracks for your room's Jukebox) and in real life, such as ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW0SHUfXlWA Our Fighting]]''.
* LipLock: The only character to avert it, though only when she's singing.
* MulticoloredHair: Her twintails are orange-brown to blue ombre. [[spoiler:As Zelsius Quna, it's the other way around; blue to orange-brown.]]
** HairColorSpoiler: [[spoiler:Ever notice how that mysterious girl from the beginning of the game and the pop idol Quna are the only two to have MulticoloredHair ''and'' the same hairstyle? Moreso in that they're just the same two hair colors inverted?]]
* ThePowerOfRock: Quna occasionally puts on concerts as a means of raising morale amongst the ARKS ([[spoiler:and to gather large numbers of operatives in one place to prepare for an imminent attack]]). After she performs, everyone on the ship who was able to hear her song gets a buff.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Quna was introduced to the game a month before Episode 2, and retconned into the events of Episode 1.
* RousingSpeech: Quna uses one [[spoiler:in conjunction with her own Abyss to remove the {{Brainwashing}} effect of Regius's Abyss from ARKS.]]
* SecretIdentity: [[spoiler:She is actually Number ''Zero'' of the Council of Six, as well as a member of the [[ProfessionalKiller Death Squad]]]].
* SecretIdentityIdentity: [[spoiler:Quna angsts over her true identity: as an unquestioning weapon of the Death Squad, as her manufactured IdolSinger persona, or something between? This conflict is catalysed by the fact that she has no memories of her time before the ARKS]].
* SingingVoiceDissonance: It's an Creator/EriKitamura thing. Quna normally talks in a very high-pitched, adorable voice [[spoiler:or a much deeper, more soft-spoken voice as Zelsius Quna.]] [[spoiler:Neither of these voices]] are used when she performs, instead opting for Kitamura's natural singing voice.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Quna's name was originally spelled "Kuna" in a trailer that introduced her and the theme song ''Our Fighting''. The true spelling of her name was revealed in her live performances, spelled with a Q in the game's substitution-cypher alphabet. It's also spelled with a Q in the end credits and in the unofficial fan translation. Foreign [[VideoGame/SonicRunners official]] [[Anime/PhantasyStarOnline2TheAnimation translations]] seem to consistently get this wrong and use the former.
* VocalEvolution: In Episode 4, [[spoiler:Zelsius Quna sounds much more calm and relaxed, as opposed to her previous appearances, which gave her the voice of a dead-serious warrior.]] Quna's normal voice is otherwise the same.
* WeaponOfChoice: [[spoiler:Twin Daggers as Zelsius Quna.]]
* WhatTheHellAreYou: [[spoiler:She asks this of the PlayerCharacter when she realizes they're somehow capable of seeing through her invisibility to an extent.]]

!!Patty & Tiea
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_patty_5411.jpg]]
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_tea_4725.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanaAsumi (Patty) & Creator/YukaIguchi (Tiea)

Two twin Newman girls who act as self-proclaimed "information dealers" within ARKS; in truth, Patty is just a massive gossip and Tiea goes along to keep her sister in check. Despite this, they impart valuable information to the PlayerCharacter about the backstory of ARKS. By the end of Episode 1, [[TookALevelInBadass they become good enough at their "job"]] to uncover some of the darker secrets buried within ARKS, such as the existence of the "Death Squad" and "Void".

* [[ActionGirl Action Girls]]: They are capable of fighting, but they only team up with you in Episode 1's bonus chapter.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: Basically their schtick. Patty is the boke while Tiea is the tsukkomi.
* ExpositionBreak: While several others engage in this, these two excel in this. While everyone [[AsYouKnow already knows what they're talking about,]] you're generally treated as LockedOutOfTheLoop, so most stuff they tell you is new, sometimes interesting, and occasionally relevant.
* GirlishPigtails: They [[RuleOfThree prominently sport them.]]
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Played with. The twins essentially look the same facially, but wear differently (but similar enough) styled clothes, as well as wearing their hair in a slightly different manner between the two of them. The main reason it's played with is because [[PolarOppositeTwins their personalities]] [[RedOniBlueOni are different enough]] to tell them apart, not to mention that they both have different body types, despite being the same height[[note]]Patty being the more filled out of the two[[/note]].
* ImageSong: ''Star Quality Twins''.
* PolarOppositeTwins: Patty is the more energetic of the two, while Tiea's more level-headed.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The translation patch gives Tiea's name as "Tea".
* TookALevelInBadass: When you first meet them, most of the information is AsYouKnow levels of common knowledge. Yet over time they actually become good at gathering obscure information, to the point where the PlayerCharacter commissions them to investigate the darker elements of ARKS and they ''deliver''. Considering that some of these "darker elements" have been known to assassinate people who snoop around, this is no small feat.
* TwinBanter: Patty and Tiea engage in this often, with Tiea [[DeadpanSnarker snarking]] at Patty due to the latter's tendency to [[MotorMouth run her mouth off]] and spouting [[AsYouKnow well-known information]] she heard from other people.
* WalkingSwimsuitScene: Patty gets one in ''Side Stories'', where the twins head to Wopal and Patty changes into a bikini top and shorts.
* WeaponOfChoice: Patty wields Double Sabers, Tiea wields Talises.

!!Fourie
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_fourier_4838.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HisakoKanemoto

An energetic Ranger CAST who becomes fascinated by the Lillipan race after they save her life. To this end, she strives to become good friends with them and even learn their language. [[spoiler:She, along with the three main class trainers, becomes brainwashed by the Three Heroes and is forced to fight you while you and Matoi are en route to the Mothership's core.]]

* {{BFG}}: Launchers are her WeaponOfChoice.
* GenkiGirl: She's very peppy, even as far as other characters go. She's not above partaking in Risa's borderline-sadist antics, though.
* HoldTheLine: [[spoiler:She, alongside Marlur, Oza, and Risa stays behind to help fend off Darkers on your tail during your mission on the Mothership.]]
* ImageSong: ''homing friends''.
* NotSoDifferent: While she's incredibly friendly and gets along well with others, she seems to enjoy blowing stuff up with her Launcher much on the same level as Risa likes stuffing lead into everything that isn't her ally. The two even enjoy teaming up with each other and razing enemy grounds.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: She eventually (somehow) learns to understand the Lillipan language. For the record, said language consists entirely of PokemonSpeak.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Officially "Fourie". The translation patch calls her "Fourier", due to it being a legitimate name in French.
* TakingTheBullet: She takes a punch to the torso from Gettemhult in a Lilipan's stead. While it doesn't kill her, the blow she took could've potentially turned the Lilipan into a pile of mush.
* WeaponOfChoice: As stated above, Launchers.

!!Gettemhult
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_gettemhart_4071.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NobuoTobita

One of the most powerful and notorious members of ARKS. Instead of being a role model, Gettemhult is a ruthless BloodKnight who only seems to participate in ARKS activities to experience the thrill of battle. He is on very bad terms with Zeno, often getting into heated battles with him. At Episode 1's climax, [[spoiler:he uses Melphonseana as a sacrifice to summon Dark Falz, which he believes will be his ultimate opponent. However, things don't go as planned, and Gettemhult ends up being Dark Falz's new host, transforming him into Dark Falz Elder.]]

* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:Gettemhult is still completely conscious while being possessed by Dark Falz. He's just kinda sealed up and needs Dark Falz to communicate for him.]]
* BadassLongcoat: His coat, Heretic Lord, is pretty kickass-looking.
* BerserkButton: Zeno's presence tends to get this guy in a killing mood.
* BloodKnight: He's willing to fight anything and everything that provides a challenge. When asked if he's [[YoureInsane lost his mind]], he flat out admits that he's never really been sane. He's even willing to [[spoiler:release the series' staple EldritchAbomination ''just to fight it head-to-head''.]]
** [[spoiler:[[TooDumbToLive Which bites him in the ass HARD]] after releasing said abomination, since Elder [[DemonicPossession doesn't play by those rules]]...]]
** [[spoiler:Ironically, despite inheriting Gettemhult's love of fighting, Elder somehow comes off as ''less'' insane.]]
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Oh boy, '''Gettemhult.''' [[spoiler:He actually used to be a NiceGuy, and Melphonseana joined him because [[IOweYouMyLife he saved her life.]] Then [[LoveMakesYouEvil he lost the love of his life]], hit his DespairEventHorizon which triggered his FaceHeelTurn into a BloodKnight, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking started calling Melphonseana "Seana".]] Melphonseana has tried to fill the void in his heart ever since, with no positive results.]]
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:Gettemhult had one upon losing his wife/girlfriend, which turned him into the BloodKnight we know today. Melphonseana has, unsuccessfully, tried to fill the void in his heart by staying with him no matter what.]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: He was a Fighter before Fighters were introduced into the game.
* EvilCounterpart: For Zeno, to the point where they both have identical scars on their face, and [[spoiler:a significant other that forms the crux of their morality]].
* EvilIsNotAToy: [[spoiler:Gettemhult is a BloodKnight who wants to unleash Dark Falz Elder just for the sake of fighting it. Elder's response is to turn Gettemhult into his new vessel.]]
* EvilLaugh: Engages in this in his ImageSong.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: [[spoiler:The guy's emotionally broken to hell and back. LoveMakesYouEvil, after all.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Dies with Elder when Elder uses himself to protect Melphonseana and your party from Double's onslaught.]]
* ImageSong: ''[[VillainSong The Darkness Between the Fighting]]'', with Melphonseana.
* MonsterSobStory: [[spoiler:[[DarkAndTroubledPast Once you find out about his circumstances,]] suddenly the guy seems to have a better justification for being AxCrazy.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Officially "Gettemhult". The ARKS-Layer translation patch renders it as "Gettemhart".

* WeaponOfChoice: Knuckles.

!!Melphonseana ([[spoiler:Melrandia]])
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_melphonsina_8464.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanaHanazawa

The partner of Gettemhult. Melphonseana is a young and quiet woman who seems determined to stay by Gettemhult no matter what horrific acts he commits. [[spoiler:Her true name is Melrandia, and she is the sister of Gettemhult's late lover. All three of them were caught in the infamous Darker raid of ten years ago, and her sister was killed. Melrandia blames herself for the death (fearing that she subconsciously caused it due to jealousy) and vowed absolute devotion to Gettemhult as penance]].

At the climax of Episode 1, [[spoiler:she is sacrificed by Gettemhult as the final step to unseal Dark Falz Elder, but clings to life long enough to receive medical attention. She ultimately makes a full recovery but goes into self-imposed exile for her complicity in Gettemhult's actions]]. She spends the majority of Episode 2 [[spoiler:seeking out Dark Falz Elder in the hope of saving Gettemhult. Elder refuses her pleas, but instead tells her (under the partial influence of Gettemhult) that she must defeat him to "free" his host]]. By Episode 3, [[spoiler:Melrandia has come to terms with her past and begins using her real name again]].

* BlowYouAway: Primarily uses Zan technics.
* BoyishShortHair: Sports it.
* CharacterNameAlias: [[spoiler:Melphonseana isn't actually her name. Her real name is Melrandia.]]
* DayInTheLimelight: Episode 2 Chapter EX is all about her past and her unusual relationship with Gettemhult.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: After [[spoiler:Elder performs his HeroicSacrifice]], Melphonseana cuts off her PeekABangs to signify her leaving behind both her former character and her attachment to Gettemhult.
* GreenEyedMonster: [[spoiler:Her reason for being with Gettemhult isn't all sunshine and rainbows. She ended up growing increasingly jealous of his girlfriend, to the point where she ''murders'' her to replace her. Melphonseana was completely responsible for breaking him, and she utterly regrets it.]]
* HumanSacrifice: [[spoiler:Gets used as one towards the end of Episode 1 Chapter 8, where a sacrifice is required to summon Dark Falz Elder. Unusually, [[MyMasterRightOrWrong she's okay with this]], and despite taking a direct punch to the gut, she survives, albeit narrowly. It works regardless.]]
* IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler:Has tried to stay by Gettemhult's side to fill the void in his heart, but it hasn't really worked so far.]]
* IOweYouMyLife: [[spoiler:Her reason for following Gettemhult to the ends of the earth.]]
* ImageSong: ''[[VillainSong The Darkness Between the Fighting]]'', with Gettemhult.
* ImportantHaircut: [[spoiler:After Episode 3 Chapter 4, she trims her bangs, shedding her old identity of Melphonseana.]]
* InSeriesNickname: Gettemhult calls her "Seana". A couple characters, like Afin, also call her this.
* JapanesePoliteness: She always exits with a bow, and always refers to her superiors, especially Gettemhult, with -sama. Post-Episode 3 Chapter 4, this is one of numerous character traits she drops.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: Despite Gettemhult having many, many, ''many'' screws loose, Melphonseana is willing to follow him to the ends of the earth. This eventually comes to a head in [[spoiler:Episode 1 Chapter 8, where she lets herself be killed so Gettemhult can summon Dark Falz Elder. Fortunately, she survives the ordeal.]]
* OnlyICanKillHim: [[spoiler:What it comes down to for Melphonseana, as Gettemhult (through Dark Falz) tells her that she must kill him herself if she wishes for his freedom. She never gets to do so, though, since he performs a HeroicSacrifice an Episode later.]]
* PeekABangs: Her bangs are so long that they generally obscure her eyes whenever she's seen from the front. Averted after Episode 3 Chapter 4, where she gets a new haircut.
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler:After getting punched out by Gettemhult in Episode 1 Chapter 8 to summon [[EldritchAbomination Dark Falz]], she's carted off by you and Echo in critical condition. After this, she never appears again and her fate is left ambiguous until [[TheBusCameBack Episode 2 Chapter EX]], when her [[DarkAndTroubledPast past]] and relationship to Gettemhult come to light.]]
* TheQuietOne: Like Marlu, she's not very talkative, though she will go through her proper farewell routine when leaving. Completely dropped after Episode 3 Chapter 4, where she becomes more outgoing.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The ARKS-Layer English patch renders her name as "Melphonsina" and her nickname as "Sheena". [[spoiler:It also gives the spelling of her real name as "Melondia".]]
* WeaponOfChoice: Wands.

!!Theodor
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_theodore_9812.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto

An unmotivated Force Newman. Despite his aversion to violence, he took the ARKS exam at the same time as his girlfriend Ulc; she failed, while he demonstrated a natural talent for controlling photons and was accepted. [[spoiler:After Ulc dies in Chapter 7 during a Darker raid on an ARKS ship, the poor man starts losing his mind and plots a way to avenge his girlfriend.]]

In Episode 2, [[spoiler:Luther approaches him with a way to give him what he wants: the power to avenge his girlfriend. Theodor is transformed into a Deuman, and begins following Luther, who he believes knows all. During Episode 2 Chapter 5, he is the last obstacle between you and Luther, vehemently standing strong in his will to avenge Ulc, not knowing that you had gone back in time to rescue her. After a heated battle, Ulc arrives, and despite repeated attempts to destroy what he thought was an illusion, Theodor is finally comforted by Ulc, and he returns to the ARKS as an ally.]]

In Episode 4, Ulc, having been promoted to head of ARKS in Xiao's place, recruits Theodor as her second-in-command.

* AnIcePerson: Primarily uses Barta techniques.
* AxCrazy: [[spoiler:Theodor loses quite a few screws in Episode 2 and roams around for a while blowing up Darkers out of a revenge agenda. Once you encounter him again, he's transformed into a Deuman and proceeds to ''gleefully obliterate the already dead Biol Meduna to nothing''. By the time you confront him personally, he's nearly snapped in two until Ulc makes him come back to his senses.]]
* BrilliantButLazy: He is noted to have a very good way with photons, but doesn't like fighting very much. [[spoiler:Subverted after Ulc dies, which spurs him to try to defeat Darkers in Ulc's name.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's introduced as a lazy, but good-spirited Force who doesn't like to fight. [[spoiler:When his girlfriend dies offscreen, [[TheGlovesComeOff no more Mr. Nice Guy...]]]]
* CallBack: The Weapon Camo you can get of Theo's Wand from Episode 2 can be applied to Swords, Partizans, and Wands, a reference to [[spoiler:his boss fight, where it was a MixAndMatchWeapon that could use Sword and Partizan Photon Arts alongside Technics.]]
* CastingAShadow: [[spoiler:All of his attacks in his boss fight.]]
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: [[spoiler:Theodor is extremely blatant about this, ''especially'' after he TurnsRed. Chaining Assault Buster (a Partizan PA) to Tornado Fall (a Sword PA), canceling Tornado Fall with Megid, casting charged Technics and Photon Arts unrealistically fast, and so forth. * DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler:He defaults into this after you and Ulc [[HeelFaceTurn bring him back to your side.]]]]
* DrunkWithPower: Compounded with LoveMakesYouCrazy, [[spoiler:Theodor finally goes straight off the deep end once he gets a significant power boost courtesy of Luther]]].
* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler:After he becomes a Deuman and goes ballistic, this is how he destroys things in cutscenes. In actual gameplay, he prefers CastingAShadow.]]
* LoveMakesYouCrazy: [[spoiler:The off-screen death of Ulc, Theodor's girlfriend, is what caused him to start going off the edge in Episode 2.]]
* MagicKnight: [[spoiler:In his boss fight, he combines Sword Photon Arts and Partizan Photon Arts with Megid Technics. This unfortunately makes for the fact that moving closer to ''or'' farther from him is the ''easiest'' way to get killed. Your best bet is to stay in midrange, where his Photon Arts can't hit you but his Technics miss as well.]]
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:Theodor falls into this when he finds out Ulc got killed in action by Darkers. Sure he's less of a sissy and is serious about destroying the Darkers now, but just listening to the way he speaks in Episode 2's Story Missions makes it clear that he's bordering on going completely batshit.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The English patch calls him "Theodor'''e'''."
* WalkingSpoiler: He may not look it, but he gets promoted to [[spoiler:''secondary antagonist'']] in Episode 2, hence all the spoiler tags.
* WeaponOfChoice: When he was introduced, he wielded a Talis. [[spoiler:After Episode 2, he obtains Linolut, a Genesis Weapon crafted for him by Luther. It's a Wand, but also has the properties of a Sword and a Partizan.]]

An extremely cowardly Force Newman, and Aki's assistant in science. If given the chance, he'll run from combat any day and just hang out where it's safe. Aki's adventures to Amduscia do not help him in the slightest. [[spoiler:He is actually a spy for the Central Research Department, sent to keep Aki in check and prevent her from becoming a threat to them. After Hadred is killed, Aki is deemed to be harmless and Right is released from his duty. Without his ulterior motives, he slowly warms up to Aki for real]].

* CharacterDevelopment: By the end of Episode 3, he finally gets over his fear of Dragonkin.
* JapaneseRanguage / SpellMyNameWithAnS: Called "Light" in the translation patch.
* ShockAndAwe: Likes using Zonde technics.
* VomitIndiscretionShot: The game's cutscenes lack any vomit-like gestures, but he gets audibly nauseous on-screen when Aki examines a dragonkin corpse.
* WeaponOfChoice: Rods. Fitting, considering he likes staying as far away as possible from close combat.

!!Jig
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/FumihikoTachiki

A former weaponsmith who has fallen from glory, and can now only reminisce of the good old days, having lost the spirit to keep crafting weapons for his allies. [[spoiler:After you obtain all of the Clarissa's pieces, Jig heads down to his workshop on the ARKS ship Themis to put it together. This happens to coincide with a Darker raid on said ship soon after, and during the ensuing chaos, the rebuilt Clarissa is stolen from Jig, and ends up in Gettemhult and Melphonseana's hands.]]

In Episode 3, he gives the players special Client Orders based around ItemCrafting, and will reward the players with powerful equipment and the special Lambda Grinders needed to Grind the elusive 13★ weapons. [[spoiler:After Yonohate and Clarissa are destroyed, he crafts replacement weapons for Regius and Matoi.]]

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: ARKS-Layer's patch renders his name as "Zieg".
* UltimateBlacksmith: He is the one who created the Genesis Weapons, the most powerful photon weapons ever made.

* ArcherArchetype: Bullet Bows are her WeaponOfChoice, and she's quite level-headed.
* {{Bokukko}}: Uses ''ore'' instead of ''boku''.
* ImageSong: ''[[CatGirl kitty girl]]''.
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: Part of being a Deuman. Her left eye is yellow, and has a vortex to contrast her blue eye.
* RedOniBlueOni: Io's conservative, [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience blue-haired]], Bullet Bow-wielding blue to Azanami's red.
* SempaiKohai: She refers to you as "senpai".
* TokenMiniMoe: She's wearing ''boots with heels'' and is still the shortest [=NPC=]! To put some perspective, she's shorter than Patty and Tiea, both of them wearing flat footwear.
* WeaponOfChoice: The Bullet Bow, in stark contrast to Azanami's Katana.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto

A Human Gunner who hangs out on the second floor of the ARKS Lobby. He provides extremely lucrative Client Orders for players so they can buy new costumes and weapons. You may meet him on the field occasionally, where you'll generally see him musing about deep topics.

* ArbitrarilyLargeBankAccount: The guy ''never'' seems to run out of money. Justified, since the Meseta is generated, but still...
** His client orders are generally considered to be the best way to get money.
* CoolShades: They're ''technically'' goggles, but they're reflective like actual sunglasses.
* GetRichQuickScheme: If you need money, this guy's your man.
* TheGunslinger: It's in the Gunner's job description.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He's ''28'' in Episode 1(!)
* MoneyToBurn: The guy uses ''[[CastFromMoney Meseta]] [[AbnormalAmmo as ammo]]'', for crying out loud.
* SpaceWestern: His design definitely evokes it.
* WeaponOfChoice: Twin Machineguns.

!!Revelle
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YokoHikasa

A frosty Newman fighter who harbors a deep-rooted hatred against all Darkers. Her Client Orders are all based around the extermination of various Darker-type enemies.

* BigOlEyebrows: While not INCREDIBLY huge, they '''are''' abnormally thick for this cast.
* ConvenientlyAnOrphan: [[AllThereInTheManual Bonus material]] reveals that Revelle's intense hatred of Darkers stems from the Darker attack 10 years prior to the start of the story, in which her family was killed by Darkers.
* DarkSkinnedBlond: With White Hair
* DefrostingIceQueen: One of the few [=NPCs=] whose RelationshipValues with the PlayerCharacter start in the negative. If you complete enough of her Client Orders, you can get her to open up and ''eventually'' give you her Partner Card: [[spoiler:eighty-five]], to be exact.
* LadyOfWar

!!Euclita
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MariyaIse

A female Newman who disappeared during the infamous Darker raid on Oracle fifteen years ago. She is the older twin sister of Afin. [[spoiler:She was spirited away by Dark Falz Double and raised to believe she was Dark Falz Apprentice]]. Afin eventually tracks her down and convinces her to join ARKS, where she becomes a Gunner. In Episode 3-8, she butts heads with a mysterious girl named Aurora, [[spoiler:who transforms herself into a Genesis Weapon for Euclita to wield]].

* ActionGirl
* AffectionateNickname: Afin refers to her as "Euc-ne". Aurora also calls her "Euc-chan".
* AnimalsHateHim: She naturally scares Lillipans, mostly due to the fact that [[spoiler:she attacked them during her stint as Dark Falz Apprentice]].
* BadassCape: Her outfit has one with red gradient. Fittingly, it contrasts with Afin's BadassCape, which has blue gradient.
* DangerouslyShortSkirt: It's difficult to call a skirt, even, since there's so little actual material anyway...
* DayInTheLimelight: Episode 3 Chapter EX is all about her and her relationship with Aurora.
* DopeSlap: She does this to Aurora frequently.
* DualWielding: Twin Machineguns.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:She was formerly the second Dark Falz Apprentice.]]
* MulticoloredHair: Her hair goes into bright pink ombre. [[spoiler:This is residual from her former status as a Falz.]]
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Wears red to contrast her brother's blue.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The translation patch gives her name as "Eucreta."
* {{Stripperific}}: Her outfit, Crimpiacio, is fairly revealing, compared to a lot of other characters.
* {{Tsundere}}: Her Partner Card describes her as one.
* WeaponOfChoice: Twin Machineguns.
* ZettaiRyouiki: A pretty clear cut Grade A.

!!Aika
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MaoIchimichi

A cool and collected Newman who works as an agent of the ARKS Intelligence Division. She has mastered every Tech-based class and mostly operates as a Summoner. In AP 240, after the events of Episode 3, she worked undercover as "Aika Suzuki" in Tokyo to investigate and counteract the Darkers' targeting of photon-sensitive Earthlings. At the climax of the operation, [[spoiler:she inadvertently absorbed the essence of Dark Falz Apprentice through Casra II's Genesis Weapon, and had to be purified by Matoi]]. Having recovered from the ordeal, she has returned to active service.

* TheAce: She is known to be a master of Tech classes, having mastered the Force, Techer, and Bouncer classes. She has also cleared every Extreme Quest.
* AloofAlly: She acts on her mission and her mission alone, and is very distant towards those unaffiliated with her goals.
* BadassAdorable: Her Rappy Pet, who is a very powerful creature able to wipe Darkers in a flash.
* BlowYouAway: Her element of choice is Wind.
* ClarkKenting: As "Aika Suzuki", she manages to blend in with humans by hiding her PointyEars with AppliedPhlebotinum. Nothing else is different about her except her costume.
* {{Determinator}}: Once she has her sights set on an objective, she ''will'' accomplish it, no matter the odds.
* ForeignExchangeStudent: Passed as one to Seiga Academy while undercover.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: She is known to be able to handle Compound Technics well, despite Compound Technics only being available to players who Main Class Force or Techer and use a dedicated weapon.
* {{Meido}}: Dressed as one for the Seiga Academy School Festival for her class's maid cafe. She'd rather keep that stint a secret, especially when Quna brings it up to the PlayerCharacter.
* MulticoloredHair: The ends of her braids are bright violet, while the rest of her hair is blonde. [[spoiler:This is due to sealing away Dark Falz Apprentice several months ago.]]
* RapunzelHair: It's not too severe, but her braids reach down to her thighs.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: She wields a Rappy as her Summoner Pet.
* SealedEvilInACan: [[spoiler:She canned Dark Falz Apprentice using herself several months prior to the start of Episode 4. This is reflected in her MulticoloredHair. Unfortunately, she couldn't keep it canned during the TimeSkip, forcing Matoi to work her magic and purify Aika.]]
* WeaponOfChoice: Her Rappy Pet. Otherwise, she wields Techniques unarmed.

!!Xiela
->'''Voiced by:''' Juri Kimura

An advanced CAST model created to oversee the functions of an entire ARKS ship. She is in charge of the Story Board, the successor to the Matter Board, and acts as the personal Operator for the PlayerCharacter.

* MissionControl: For the player in Episode 4.
* MsExposition: She's very "explainy". A number of cutscenes consist purely of her rattling off exposition while you, Hitsugi, and Al stand and listen.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The English patch prefers the rather mundane "Sierra" over using the "X" trend of her predecessors.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:ARKS Trainers]]
Class trainers who manage classes and teach their basics to the players, as well as give out class-related Client Orders to players. They each have unique relations to each other, being of different professions.

!!Jan
->Voiced by: Creator/YosukeAkimoto

A veteran ARKS with a habit of droning on about his past glories for a little too long. He gives Client Orders based around teaching the PlayerCharacter about the basic mechanics of the game, such as forming parties and how to use the various facilities featured in the ARKS Ship Lobby.

* LeftHanging: Every cutscene he appears in ends with the player eventually walking away while Jan is still talking about his exploits. Jan honestly doesn't seem to mind though, as he goes on and on and on...
* MrExposition: Loves droning on about mechanics and his adventures. Eventually he always gets left alone, but he's too busy reminiscing to notice.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: "Jean" in the translation patch, likely due to its pronounciation in Japanese matching that of "Jan" exactly.
* WeaponOfChoice: Assault Rifles.

!!Marlur
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_marlu_4508.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MaiKadowaki

A quiet young woman who acts as the trainer for rookie Forces and Techers. She has a particular dislike of Hunters and their unpredictable way of fighting. [[spoiler:She, along with the other two class trainers and Fourie, becomes brainwashed by the Three Heroes and is forced to fight you while you and Matoi are en route to the Mothership's core.]]

* BattleCouple: They don't start as one, but late into Episode 2, it's revealed that she's secretly developed some feelings for Oza. She also [[MistakenForRomance mistakes]] Oza and Azanami as one, which creates a lot of tension between her and the Hunter.
* HoldTheLine: [[spoiler:She, alongside Oza, Risa, and Fourie, stays behind to help fend off Darkers on your tail during your mission on the Mothership.]]
* LightEmUp: Grants is her element of choice. Notably, in the ''very'' early days of the game, she was the only one that gives you the Grants and Gigrants discs.
* PerspectiveReversal: She starts out voicing her dislike for Hunters, but after being paired with Risa, she confesses that she'd rather be paired with a Hunter.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Her name is officially rendered as "Marlur" (the second "r" is apparently silent). The translation patch spells it as "Marlu".
* TheQuietOne: She doesn't talk as much as most other characters.
* WeaponOfChoice: Rods.

!!Oza
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_ohza_5900.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HiroShimono

A bolsterous man who acts as the trainer for rookie Hunters and Fighters. He has a particular dislike of Forces and their evasive way of fighting. [[spoiler:He, along with the other two class trainers and Fourie, becomes brainwashed by the Three Heroes and is forced to fight you while you and Matoi are en route to the Mothership's core.]]

* BladeOnAStick: His WeaponOfChoice is the Partizan.
* HoldTheLine: [[spoiler:He, alongside Marlur, Risa, and Fourie, stays behind to help fend off Darkers on your tail during your mission on the Mothership.]]
* MistakenForRomance: With Azanami, by Marlu, which leads to a lot of tension between him and the Force.
* PerspectiveReversal: He starts out voicing his dislike for Forces, but after being paired with Risa, he confesses that he'd rather be paired with a Force.
* PresentCompanyExcluded: In one of his conversation events he takes a moment from his anti-Force rant to clarify that he doesn't mean you if you happen to be one yourself.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Officially "Oza". The translation patch gives it as "Ohza" and there are those that use the phonetic spelling "Ooza".
* WeaponOfChoice: Partizans.

!!Risa
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_lisa_9595.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanaHanazawa

A Cast who acts as the trainer for rookie Rangers and Gunners. Risa is a highly-proficient sniper, yet has quite a few screws loose and talks vividly about her love of riddling anything that's not an ally with bullets. [[spoiler:She, along with the other two class trainers and Fourie, becomes brainwashed by the Three Heroes and is forced to fight you while you and Matoi are en route to the Mothership's core.]]

* BlackAndWhiteInsanity: Risa sees everything as either white, meaning "don't shoot", or black, meaning "shoot a lot".
* CuteAndPsycho: She's... unhinged, to say the least.
* EmergencyTransformation: [[spoiler:She was once a young Newman girl who was converted into a Cast. The effect that this had on her sanity is... telling]].
* FriendOrFoe: The only way Risa can tell which is which is if it's explicitly outlined for her. This leads to problems in ''Side Stories'' when she mistakes Lillipans as enemies.
* HoldTheLine: [[spoiler:She, alongside Marlu, Ohza, and Fourie, stays behind to help fend off Darkers on your tail during your mission on the Mothership.]]
* ImageSong: ''[[MoreDakka Bullet Showtime]]''.
* {{OOC Is Serious Business}}: In the final chapter of Episode 3, she gets a moment of downright serenity where she encourages the PlayerCharacter for their upcoming fight [[spoiler:to save Matoi]]. She immediately goes back to normal afterwards and dismisses any implication she was acting "strangely".
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* SociopathicHero: To the letter. The only reason she doesn't go on a murderous rampage is because she hates Darkers ''more'' than she hates every other race.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Many sources (the English patch included), give her name as "Lisa" due to [[JapaneseRanguage L/R confusion.]] It should be noted that "Risa" is an actual first name in Japanese, which further adds to the debate.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Which serves to further accentuate her insanity.
* UncannyValleyGirl: Risa looks and sounds cheerful, but she is a bit too enthusiastic when talking about how she turns others into beehives.
* VagueAge: Her official age is marked as "??".
* WeaponOfChoice: Assault Rifles, and her justification is that it allows her to kill her targets slowly and painfully.

!!Azanami
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_azanami_4059.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MaiNakahara

A vigorous young woman who invented the Braver class and (thus) acts as its trainer. She was trained in the use of the katana by Regius, #1 of the Council of Six, and considers him her mentor. She winds up caught in the centre of an ImaginaryLoveTriangle when Marlu spots her questing alongside Oza. In ''Side Stories'', she is paired up with fellow Braver Io as her foil.

* IaijutsuPractitioner: Her fighting style, and by extension the creator of the Braver's combat style.
* MistakenForRomance: With Oza by Marlur, which leads to a lot of tension between the Hunter and Force later.
* RedOniBlueOni: Azanami's energetic, [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience red haired]], [[KatanasAreJustBetter Katana-wielding]] red to Io's blue.
* SpacePirate: She dresses the part, at the very least.
* WeaponOfChoice: The Katana, in stark contrast to Io's Bullet Bow.

!!Katori
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_katori_493.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HoukoKuwashima

An elegant young Newman who conducts herself as if she were royalty. She is one of two class trainers for the Bouncer class, specializing in Dual Blades.

* DraggedByTheCollar: When you see her and Saga together in an Event Board, she occasionally gets dragged off by Saga in this fashion.
* DualWielding: Comes in part of wielding Dual Blades.
* ImageSong: ''Glamorous La Vie en Rose''.
* KickChick: Subverted! While Jet Boots is one of the Bouncer's weapons, she's a Dual Blade wielder.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Saga's blue.
* WeaponOfChoice: Dual Blades.

!!Saga
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_saga_9694.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakahiroSakurai

The partner and bodyguard of Katori. He is one of two class trainers for the Bouncer class, proficient with the Jet Boots.

* ExtremityExtremist: He fights with Jet Boots, which heavily utilizes kicks.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Katori's red.
* StraightMan: Oftentimes this for Katori.
* WeaponOfChoice: Jet Boots.

!!Pietro
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakuyaEguchi

The trainer of the Summoner class. A rather melodramatic Deuman who, unfortunately, cannot get his Pets to like him despite his affection for them.

* AffectionateNickname: Has one for all of his Pets. Unfortunately, his Pets don't exactly like him.
* AnimalsHateHim: His Pets do not return his affection, often attacking or biting him constantly. He seems to not mind this, however.
* TheBeastmaster: He's this, being a Summoner.
* {{Cap}}: Besides standing around and handing out Client Orders, he has an additional function that other Trainers don't: if you have a Pet of higher than 10★ rarity, he can "limit break" your Pets, which will allow them to surpass the Lv. 100 cap.
* GratuitousEnglish: He's a ''huge'' fan of this. His AffectionateNickname for you is "my friend" in Engrish, and all of his Pets' names are English in origin (European, at that).

!!Barbara
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YokoHikasa

A veteran Cast who gives advanced weapons training to the Fighter, Gunner and Techer classes.

* WeaponOfChoice: Wands.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:ARKS Council of Six]]
A group comprised of the six most powerful operatives of ARKS. They essentially act as the leaders and field commanders of the organisation. The Council of Six was formed after the disastrous Elder War in order to help ARKS rebuild and recuperate. The six members are split into the Odd Numbers (the Three Heroes who originally fought Dark Falz Elder, and their successors) and the Even Numbers (three others chosen to counterbalance the personalities of the Odd Numbers). While the Council are given free reign in how they go about their responsibilities, they are bound by one absolute principle: to ensure the continued existence of the Oracle Mothership no matter the cost. The Council of Six are also distinguished by their ability to wield Genesis Weapons, the unimaginably powerful {{Super Prototype}}s upon which all modern ARKS weaponry is derived from.

The initial Council were comprised of Regius, Maria, Casra I, Atossa, Klaris Krays I, and Wolf. There have been many new members since then, and the symbolic importance of the Three Heroes is so strong that new Odd Numbers take up the names of their predecessors. At the beginning of Episode 1, the #4 slot is empty because no candidate had been able to control its Genesis Weapon. By the end of Episode 2, [[spoiler:Zeno]] takes up the spot.

After the events of Episode 3, ARKS undergoes major restructuring and the Council of Six split up to head new divisions within the organisation.

!!Regius (#1)
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_regius_4249.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YosukeAkimoto

The first of the Council of Six, and an original member of the legendary Three Heroes. As an old-fashioned but effective CAST warrior, he follows two absolute principles: to destroy all Darkers, and to protect Oracle no matter what. His Genesis Weapon is the infamous [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Yonohate]], a Katana said to be able to destroy a planet in a single strike. In combat, the Yonohate is always locked away in a special case, which Regius wields as a Hunter's Sword. At the climax of Episode 2, [[spoiler:he is tricked by Luther into believing that you are part of a conspiracy against the ARKS, and fights you alongside Clares Claes and Casra. His hostility lasts until Quna presents him with evidence of Luther's treachery, and he resolves to hold off the Darkers so you and Matoi can confront Luther. After Luther (as Dark Falz Loser) is defeated and attempts to bargain for his life, Regius upholds his resolve to "destroy all Darkers" and uses the Yonohate to finish off Loser]].

* BackToBackBadasses: With his younger sister Maria, [[spoiler:while defending you and Matoi from approaching Darkers and Clone Klariskrays while the two of you head to Oracle's core.]]
* BadassGrandpa: He's 73 years old, but [[OlderThanTheyLook doesn't look it]] because he's a robot. He and Maria are two of the last surviving 1st Generation ARKS.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: The Yonohate is this in a weapon. Rumor has it that if Regius uses it, it could have possibly catastrophic consequences. When he fights, he never removes it from his case and uses the case (with the Yonohate's grip as the handle) like a Hunter's greatsword. [[spoiler:When he actually does use it, it doesn't really destroy a planet as it is rumored to, but it manages to kill [Loser] in a single strike against a cosmic background effect. It also causes visible strain on Regius as well.]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: In-universe, he was the first person to wield a Katana before the Braver class was invented.
* HeroicRedRingOfDeath: Downplayed; Regius is visibly strained from using the unsealed Yonohate, but that's it. Maria notes that it's due to old age.
* IaijutsuPractitioner: As the Yonohate comes in a large case as opposed to a sheath, he's the only Katana-wielder ''not'' to fight like this.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: The unsealed Yonohate is a (rather ordinary looking) katana. [[spoiler:It can one-shot Dark Falz Loser.]]
* LaserBlade: Yonohate can grow twice as long at full power, AbsurdCuttingPower to match. It's also capable of [[SingleStrokeBattle Single Stroke Battles]], [[spoiler:as he demonstrates on Loser.]]
* LawfulStupid: He shows shades of this when [[spoiler:he brainwashes the ARKS into killing you for invading the Mothership, and attempts to off you personally.]] It's eventually subverted when it's made apparent that [[RedHerring he was led on]].
* MythologyGag: Yonohate is the only Council of Six weapon to have appeared in previous games; in ''VideoGame/PhantasyStarZero'' and the ''VideoGame/PhantasyStarUniverse'' series, both Yonohate and its sealed form, Yonohate Fu, were available as obtainable weapons.
* OlderIsBetter: Compared to all the futuristic weaponry featured throughout the game, Yonohate is a plain, classic Japanese-esque katana. [[spoiler:That doesn't mean it can't grow a LaserBlade and DiagonalCut Loser [[SingleStrokeBattle in one blow.]]]]
* PowerLimiter: The big, bulky sheath on Yonohate serves as one. He can still fight with it sealed, but it's moreso bludgeoning things to submission.
* SingleStrokeBattle: What Regius's [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Yonohate]] Katana is rumored to do. [[spoiler:True to its word, it kills [Loser] with a single flashy QuickDraw.]]
* WeaponOfChoice: Yonohate, a Katana rumored to be able to destroy planets in one blow. Its power usually remains sealed inside a gigantic case, allowing Regius to wield it as if it were a Sword. [[spoiler:He busts it out on Loser to kill him instantly, but due to its connection with Xion having been severed as a result of her death, Yonohate shatters immediately on use. He later gains a replacement from Jig.]]

!!Maria (#2)
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_maria_3643.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MamiKoyama

The second of the Council of Six, and Regius' sister. Despite her harsh training methods and caustic tone, she fights for the good of everyone and won't back down without a fight. [[spoiler:She is aware that Luther is conducting illegal experiments, but cannot act because she is unsure of how far his influence spreads throughout the ARKS. Instead, she works with a very small number of trusted individuals (Quna, Sarah and Xiao) to investigate and undermine Luther's ambitions]].

* AnAxeToGrind: Her Genesis Partizan Labrys looks like a gigantic axe.
* BadassGrandpa: She's just three years shy of her older brother, at 70 years old. Doesn't make her any less effective in combat, however.
* BackToBackBadasses: With her older brother Regius, [[spoiler:while defending you and Matoi from approaching Darkers and Clone Klariskrays while the two of you head to Oracle's core.]]
* BladeOnAStick: Wields Partizan-type weapons.
* CoolBigSis: Acts as this for Fourie, Huey and [[spoiler:Zeno]]. The latter two even refer to her as "ane-san".
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Her Genesis Weapon, the Labrys. It's incredibly powerful, but all of the damage it deals is reflected back onto both the weapon and the wielder. A single swing will destroy almost any enemy, but it ''breaks'' the weapon and damn-near cripples Maria.
* OneHitKill: Labrys is so powerful, it's said that it could one-shot '''Dark Falz Elder'''.
* TrainingFromHell: She is infamous for her brutal training style. [[spoiler:Zeno puts up with it and becomes the 4th member of the Council of Six thanks to her beating him up so much.]]
* WeaponOfChoice: Partizans. Axes, when things get rough.

!!Casra II (#3)
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_casra_2905.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HiroshiKamiya

A mysterious Force Newman, and successor to one of the Three Heroes. While affable and humble, he carries an air of secrecy about himself and his movements. [[spoiler:He is actually a clone of the original Casra, whose body was possessed by Luther after he proved difficult to control. As a clone, Casra II is beholden to Luther but also feels a great deal of guilt over his role in Luther's schemes. He therefore works as a double-agent, taking steps to secretly undermine Luther and eventually playing a vital role in exposing his unethical experiments]].

After the events of Episode 3, he founds the "Intelligence Division" of ARKS and essentially becomes the organisation's formal spymaster.

* DeathDealer: His weapon of choice is the Talis.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: One optional cutscene with him has him talking about a function called the Absolute Order, a command given by a Council of Six member that forces all ARKS members except other Council of Six members to carry out said command. He then mentions how it's never been used, and how [[TemptingFate he hopes it never will be.]] [[spoiler:Come Episode 2 Chapter 5, and Regius invokes it to send everyone to kill you. [[HeroicWillpower Except Echo.]]]]
* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: When activated, Flowenvelg spawns what appears to be a ''spiral galaxy'' on its top. [[spoiler:The anime reveals that it's actually a spacial portal device that can transport mass over short distances, such as when Itsuki Tachibana uses it to enter Dark Falz Apprentice's interior and when Aika uses it to absorb Apprentice's essence.]]
* LegacyCharacter: He inherited the name and position of the original Casra. [[spoiler:He is actually a clone of that person, whose body has been possessed by Luther]].
* MyGreatestFailure: As [[spoiler:a clone of the original Casra]], he is perfectly aware of [[spoiler:Luther]]'s plans and actually contributed to them. Feeling guilt over the fact that he lacked the strength to stand up to [[spoiler:Luther]], he works in the background to undermine him.
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: Casra stops fighting [[spoiler:you and Echo]] to deliver the speech below. [[spoiler:Actually used to his advantage, as he gave said speech to buy Quna more time to hack the ARKS database.]]
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: [[spoiler:Delivers one to Echo on the Mothership, outlining how trying to become stronger by going way out of her element ultimately just makes her TheLoad.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The Crunchyroll broadcast of the anime insists that his Genesis Weapon is spelled "Flowenberk".
* WeaponOfChoice: He normally wields a Gunslash, but when TheGlovesComeOff, his Genesis Weapon is Flowenvelg, a Talis.

!!Klariskrays III (#5)
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_clarisclaes_1490.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AoiYuuki

The third [[LegacyCharacter Klariskrays]], and successor to one of the Three Heroes. An absurdly powerful and arrogant Force Human who loves nothing more than blowing up Darkers (and anything caught in the vicinity) with her Techniques. However, as the youngest member of the Council of Six, she is also the most naive and sheltered of them. Her Genesis Weapon is the Clarissa, a legendary weapon once used to seal away Dark Falz. [[spoiler:Later events reveal her black Clarissa to be a copy created by Luther, one that allows him to whisper into her mind and influence her actions]].

As the events of Episode 2 progress, she becomes increasingly LockedOutOfTheLoop and is eventually [[spoiler:forced to defend the Mothership alongside Regius and Casra without really understanding why. Klaris then discovers she is actually an [[ArtificialHuman artifical]] SuperSoldier created by Luther as part of his experiments and mass-produced to serve as an army, a revelation that shakes her to her core]]. Fortunately, she is able to overcome this trial with the emotional support of Huey and strikes up a sisterly friendship with Sarah, [[spoiler:the original girl she was cloned from]].

In Episode 3, [[spoiler:she and Sarah are separately sent to the Floating Facility at Vopal on missions, and "coincidentally" meet up with each other, the PlayerCharacter and Cabracan. The four decide to travel together, and in the process, Klariskrays discovers that Sarah is the original girl that she is a clone of. Despite their tendency to butt heads, they manage to bond and become an ActionDuo together.]]

* ActionDuo: With Sarah.
* BreakTheHaughty: [[spoiler:She doesn't take the revelation of being a clone too well...]]
* CloningBlues: [[spoiler:Klariskrays has a [[HeroicBSOD massive breakdown]] when Luther unleashes a horde of Clone Klariskrays and the supposedly real one discovers that [[TomatoInTheMirror she's also a clone too, just more complete than the others.]]]]
* FightingYourFriend: [[spoiler:She is forced to duel with her buddy Huey due to her rank during Episode 2 Chapter 5. However, it's made fairly clear that she has her reservations about this.]]
* FireForgedFriends: With Sarah in Episode 3. She and Sarah were on rocky terms, but then Huey comes up with a plan to make them work together on a mission, and they've hit it off very well since. They even get matching outfits in Episode 4!
* GoodIsNotNice: For a member of the prestegious Council, she has a '''''gigantic''''' ego and thinks of the player as nothing more than a peon[[note]]She uses the very rude pronoun "kisama" to address you.[[/note]].
* KillItWithFire: Her weapon of choice.
* LegacyCharacter: InUniverse example; the name Klariskrays is passed down among the Six.
* NoSenseOfDirection
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Sarah's blue.
* ShoddyKnockoffProduct: [[spoiler:The Clarissa II. The real Clarissa is white, and was broken into three pieces prior to the story. As of Episode 3, the real thing is with Matoi.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The most inconsistently spelled name in a game full of them. Her name was given as "Clariskrays" in Episode 1's credits, she is called "Claris Claes" in the translation patch, and Episode 3's credits used "Klariskrays;" meaning that either Episode 1's credits were in error, or the ''new'' spelling is. Considering [[AllThereInTheManual official material]] gives "KK" as an abbreviation for her name, the latter is probably correct.
* TalkingWeapon: The Clarissa is famous for having this as a trait, though no one has actually heard it talk, and many state that it only talks to Klariskrays, so this trait only extends as far as a rumor. [[spoiler:The Clarissa II actually ''can'' talk to Klariskrays III, but the voice belongs to Luther, who uses the connection to manipulate her. After he is killed, the Clarissa II stops talking]].
* TomatoInTheMirror: [[spoiler:The red-clad Klariskrays that we know? She's not the real Klariskrays. She's but one of the many so-dubbed "Clone Klariskrays".]]
* TookALevelInKindness: [[spoiler:She seems to have somewhat shed her {{Jerkass}} personality following the revelation that she's a clone, though she still likes referring to people as peons.]]
* WeaponOfChoice: The Clarissa II. [[spoiler:Like Klariskrays III herself, it's a fake, but manages to be immensely powerful anyways.]]

!!Huey (#6)
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_huey_802.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TetsuyaKakihara

The HotBlooded, [[LargeHam hammy]] sixth member of the Council of Six. He aspires to motivate the ARKS by putting on his own show of enthusiasm and bravery, though all it earns him is awkward looks from the ARKS members. He is the most honest and idealistic member of the Council of Six, though privately worries about the weight of responsibility this places upon him.

In Episode 2, he is assigned to be the mentor of Klariskrays III in the hope of teaching her right from wrong. At the climax of the episode, [[spoiler:he joins the PlayerCharacter in fighting against the Odd Numbers (who are blocking the path to the Mothership Core under false intelligence from Luther), and helps Klariskrays III through the traumatic events that transpire there]].

* BadassBoast: Gives an excellent one right before the battle against the [[spoiler:Three Heroes]] begins in earnest. Note that when he gives this speech, it is NOT in his usual LargeHam fashion, [[LetsGetDangerous but in a calm, deadly serious tone.]]
-->'''Huey:''' ...I see. Then playtime is over. I am Number Six of the Six, and you are [[spoiler:Number Five of the Six, Klariskrays,]] and I will stop you. Wake up and smash... Wolfram! *summons Genesis Weapon* Steel your heart, [[spoiler:Klariskrays!]] This.. is what you call hostility!
* BoxingBattler: Despite being a Wired Lance wielder, Wolfram is a pair of knuckles.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He was talented enough to get fast-tracked into ARKS and became one of the six most powerful members of the organisation.
* FightingYourFriend: [[spoiler:He has to duel with his partner Klariskrays during Episode 2 Chapter 5 when he joins your side. However, he makes it clear that he's more than willing to go through her if it means doing the right thing.]]
* HotBlooded: Good lord, '''''yes!''''' The dude screams HotBlooded just by looking at him! However, it's deconstructed slightly, since many characters think of his hot-bloodedness as loud and really annoying, to the point where Huey himself depressingly notes that he doesn't get a lot of friends. [[AesopAmnesia Which he plans to solve by being more Hot-Blooded.]] In all fairness, the guy really thinks his character spreads enthusiasm.
* ImageSong: ''Ultimate Energy''.
* LargeHam: Honestly, it'd be easier to tell you when he ISN'T hamming it up.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Right before the [[spoiler:fight against the Three Heroes]] in Episode 2 Chapter 5, Huey arrives and ''calms down'' for much of the latter half of the cutscene. He fires back up for the ensuing battle, but his brief moment of total seriousness adds a lot to the situation's gravity.
** He also has an OOC moment on an Episode 2 Chapter 3 matter board event that he outright [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] and asks you to keep the moment a secret.
---> '''Huey:''' What? Oh no! I was actually talking seriously, I can't be out of character!
* WeaponOfChoice: Wired Lances. When he [[LetsGetDangerous gets dangerous]] though, he wields the Rending Fist Wolfram, which are knuckles.
* WhipItGood: Wielder of Wired Lances.

[[folder:Other Residents of Oracle]]
!!Luther
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_luther_7501.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakahiroSakurai

The head of "Void", aka the Central Research Department of Oracle. He is the last surviving Photoner, an ancient race that preceded the Humans, Newmans and Casts.

* BigBadWannabe: He starts out as a significant threat when he's introduced, able to easily manipulate the ARKS higher-ups and even [[spoiler:a Dark Falz]]. Unfortunately when he's cornered without any suckers to hide behind, he ends up being a rather weak boss and has no backup plan, and his designs quickly fall apart.
* BodySnatcher: Luther ''looks'' like a Newman, but that's because he has the ability to possess other bodies. His current body is actually [[spoiler:Casra I, who was the original subject for Luther's cloning experiments but was discarded after he proved difficult to control]].
* [[spoiler:DeathByIrony: In pursuit of his goals, Luther possessed others against their will, treated everyone on Oracle as disposable pawns, and engaged in illegal cloning experiments with the intent of creating a brainwashed army. His eventual fate: to become Dark Falz Loser, and then turned into a series of disposable clones under the thumb of Double, solely created to keep the ARKS distracted for a while]].
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler:After the players beat the tar out of him, Luther, bruised and battered, emerges from the Mothership's core and gets confronted by Regius. Luther proposes resurrecting Alma, the first Klariskrays, in exchange for his own skin. [[AvertedTrope Regius doesn't buy it]] and [[SingleStrokeBattle cuts Luther in half.]]]]
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Luther, despite all of his intelligence, scheming and eventually [[spoiler:becoming omniscient]], is incapable of understanding the motivations of the protagonist and their allies, which, when he finally undergoes his VillainousBreakdown, expresses immense fury and bewilderment that they would ''dare'' deny him [[spoiler:all the knowledge in the universe]] rather than bowing before him. [[spoiler:And to add insult to injury, his fellow Photoners bind him and give everyone a chance to escape the mothership and regroup, and cannot fathom why they would possibly do such a thing.]]
* EvilIsNotAToy: [[spoiler:Luther is a MadScientist who subjects people and creatures - Darkers included - to all manner of experiments just to see what will happen. This culminates in unwittingly becoming Dark Falz Loser.]]
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:After being consumed by Double, he becomes trapped in a purgatorial state within Double's PocketDimension]].
** {{Unishment}}: [[spoiler:This doesn't bother him as much as you would assume. Double has consumed and stored centuries upon centuries of history, providing Luther with plenty of new information for him to digest at his own pace. He's happy to share what he's already learned with you, if partially because he has no-one else to talk to]].
* IChooseToStay: [[spoiler:After getting stuck in Double's PocketDimension, he ultimately decides that a world without Xion is a world not worth returning to. There's also the fact that it's impossible for him to leave under normal circumstances.]]
* IronicHell: [[spoiler:Luther ''sort of'' gets what he wants after being absorbed by Double, but finds out that an infinite amount of knowledge means nothing if you have no-one to share it with. He actually starts to empathise with Xion after comparing his fate to her prior existance]].
* GravityMaster: Played with. [[spoiler:Luther can manipulate all of the artificial gravity on the Oracle, which gives him this property so long as he's in the Mothership. In battle, his only attack is smashing you against the ground with gravity.]]
* JackOfAllTrades: [[spoiler:As a GuestStarPartyMember, this is his niche. Unlike many other Partner Forces and Techers, Luther doesn't have a specialty and fights with every element.]]
* KillEmAll: [[spoiler:Luther tries to do this to the entire ARKS organization. Thankfully, [[BigDamnHeroes Xiao shows up just in time to save everyone.]]]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Unlike Elder who [[TheBattleDidntCount shrugs off his defeats]], Loser is visibly weakened and staggering away from the battlefield before being tracked down and put down for good by Regius. Sadly however this wasn't the end, as Double got their hands on him shortly after and started ''[[OhCrap cloning him]]''...]]
** During Episode 3, [[spoiler:it is revealed that Luther still exists, but is trapped in a purgatorial state within Double's pocket universe]].
* LastOfHisKind: He's the last of the Photoners.
* LightIsNotGood: Despite being a ''Photoner'', he selfishly desires [[TheOmniscient omniscience.]] [[spoiler:This falls apart once he becomes Dark Falz Loser.]]
* TheManBehindTheMan: Not only is the "Central Research Department" [[spoiler:a cover for his unethical experiments]], but he orchestrated [[spoiler:the founding of ARKS]] and secretly controls it from the shadows.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Luther [[spoiler:absorbs Xion to become TheOmniscient. Unfortunately for him, it also lets Xion manipulate him to a degree. Also, this allows Xion to die, which prevents him from surviving Regius's OneHitKill with Yonohate.]]
* NotSoOmniscientAfterAll: [[spoiler:Luther's entire bid for power was to become omniscient, which he claims he did... for all of a few minutes. For all his boasting, Luther certainly didn't foresee his untimely death and subsequent absorption.]]
* PeekABangs: Has a really long bang covering some of his right eye.
* {{Precursors}}: Luther is a member of the long-lost race of Photoners, and a major antagonistic force in Episode 2.
* SoreLoser: [[spoiler:How do you think [[MeaningfulName Dark Falz Loser]] got his name, anyway? To wit, once he's defeated by the player and Matoi and Xion is killed, his response is to use his gravity controls to [[RageQuit destroy the Mothership, killing himself and everyone in it]]. When Xiao abruptly shows up to stop him by revoking his controls, Luther '''completely snaps''', which results in him becoming the aforementioned Dark Falz.]]
* TacticalSuicideBoss: [[spoiler:Luther teleports when you get close to him so he can avoid getting hit. Every three teleports, Xion manages to bind him, allowing you to go to town.]]
* TrickBoss: His attacks hit hard and wide, and he has an interesting gimmick, but he doesn't have a lot of health and falls fast. [[spoiler:Then he turns into [Loser], and thus Falz Angel, and the ''real'' fight begins.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:He gets a huge one full of MadnessMantra and [[LaughingMad laughter]] when his plan goes to pieces. However, this ends up being a ''very'' bad thing, as the sheer amount of rage he's filled results in him transforming into Dark Falz Loser...]]
* WalkingSpoiler: His presence forms the crux of Episode 2's plot.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[CardCarryingVillain Just to prove his evilness,]] he does this to his staff once he's ready to move onto the next stage of his plan.

!!Sarah
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_sarah_3422.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanaUeda

A young teenager conducting her own secret investigation into the activities of Luther. She is a devoted pupil of Maria, #2 of the Council of Six, but is not officially affiliated with the ARKS. [[spoiler:She was fatally injured ten years previously during the attack of Dark Falz on Oracle, but saved when Klariskrays II linked her life to her Clarissa. However, her exposure to the Clarissa attracted the attention of Luther, who spirited her away to the Central Research Department and used her as the basis for his Klariskrays III clones. She was discarded onto the streets once her purpose was fulfilled, where she was later rescued and informally adopted by Maria]].

After the internal restructuring of ARKS following Episode 3, Sarah officially joins ARKS as Maria's second-in-command.

* ActionGirl
* AscendedExtra[=/=]EarlyBirdCameo: She first appeared in Episode 1's EX Chapter as one of the Partners you could attend the ARKS Grand Championship with. She eventually gained greater importance in future Episodes.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: [[spoiler:She originally had orange hair and blue eyes. It can be inferred that the experiments done to her permanently changed her hair and eye color.]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The "h" is dropped in the translation patch.
* TestedOnHumans: [[spoiler:She was experimented on by Luther, but was ultimately thrown aside when the experiment failed.]]
* TomboyishPonytail: In between episodes 1 and 2, the tail shifts to the side of her head.
* TimeTravel: [[spoiler:She was given a little bit of it from said experimentation.]]
* WeaponOfChoice: Wired Lances.

!!Ulc
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_ulc_6976.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MariyaIse

A Newman civilian who possesses no photon-manipulating capability. Despite her inability to control photons, her dream is to join ARKS and fight to protect Oracle. [[spoiler:She eventually gains a job within the ARKS and is rightfully overjoyed. However, she is killed in Episode 1 when her ship crashes during the Darker raid on Themis and, unable to wield photon weaponry, she is overwhelmed]].

In Episode 2, [[spoiler:after obtaining the power of TimeTravel, you and Xiao travel back to that day and rescue Ulc, discovering that her plight had been the result of sabotage. Ulc takes shelter with Sarah to hide her survival from Luther, and she later reappears in the Mothership Core to bring the insane Theodor to his senses.]]

In Episode 3, she takes up a position within ARKS working directly with Xiao to spearhead the internal reformation efforts following Luther's demise.

In Episode 4, Xiao leaves to investigate how to [[spoiler:destroy the Profound Darkness once and for all.]] To this end, he leaves the organization in Ulc's hands as the Supreme Commander of ARKS.

* AscendedExtra: So... that random civilian you meet in Episode 1 who laments not being allowed to join ARKS? [[spoiler:She becomes a key character in Episode 2, and eventually becomes head of the entire organisation]].
* BadassNormal: While she lacks the ability to wield Photons and thus cannot fight, being able to take several Foies to the face from one of the strongest beings in the story and still stand is a feat in and of itself. [[spoiler:By Episode 4, she has also succeeded Luther as head of the ARKS, which is an astonishing accomplishment all on its own.]]
* ChekhovsGunman: She's introduced as a rather inconsequential NPC that you can talk to every so often. [[spoiler:Her being KilledOffScreen causes practically half of Episode 2's problems. Thankfully, you get to fix it.]]
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler:Like Zeno, you go back to save her. However, because you uncover evidence suggesting that her death was staged by Luther (so he could acquire Theodor as a minion), she goes into hiding with Sarah to prevent you from tipping your hand]].
* KilledOffScreen: [[spoiler:The sudden Darker raid on Episode 1 Chapter 7 was her demise, and you don't see her getting killed in that entire mission at all. Come Episode 2, you jump back in time to avert this trope.]]
* ScratchDamage: If ''VideoGame/PhantasyStarNova'' is any indication, she's still capable of fighting, it's just that all her damage equates to this.

!!Rogio
[[quoteright:200:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pso2_rojio_5895.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Tetsu Shiratori

A civilian geographer and biologist. He becomes suspicious of irregularities in the environment of Naberius, and hires the PlayerCharacter to gather data on his behalf.

* CuriosityKilledTheCast: Rogio comes ''this'' close to getting assassinated by the [[spoiler:Central Research Department]] for sticking his nose into where they think it doesn't belong; namely, the abnormalities of Naberius's environment. Thankfully, [[spoiler:after Quna exposes Void and Luther is deposed]], he comes out of hiding safe and sound.
* NonActionGuy
* PutOnABus: He vanishes for most of Episode 2, except for an optional cutscene, for plot purposes. [[spoiler:By the end of Episode 1, the Central Research Department was pretty much out for his blood due to his research, so he was forced to take shelter in the Tunnels of Lillipa with Fourie's help to escape assassination.]] [[TheBusCameBack By the end of said Episode, though, he's able to come back.]]

!!Franka
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AoiYuuki

A chef who resides in the Shop Area. She often gives players Client Orders regarding enemy meats or other things that she may be able to whip up a meal out of, or materials that she can use to fix up or replace her cooking utensils. She is often popular among the players for providing extremely high-paying Client Orders, provided the player has the patience or Meseta to pay for the goods she requires. She also is the owner of Franka's Cafe, where players can gather various ingredients for cooking dishes.

* AlienLunch: Considering what she makes you get to cook her food, her dishes are almost certainly this, though the "alien" part may be subjective.
* AscendedExtra: Due to being an EnsembleDarkHorse, she received an entire area in her name as well as a cute new outfit.
* CordonBleughChef: She makes you get things like Vol Dragon and Org Blan meat. Sure, they might actually taste good in the world of ''Phantasy Star Online 2'', but then she tells you that she wants them because she wants to find out if they work in dishes...
** This is also taking into consideration the fact that actual, human food exists, like the Naura Sisters' Strawberry Shortcake.
* CostumeEvolution: She started out with a plain civilian costume [[InformedAttribute that didn't hint at all about her profession.]] She was later given a chef's outfit to distinguish her from other [=NPCs=], and eventually received a second chef's outfit that has orange highlights and fits nicer.
* FryingPanOfDoom: The Franka's Frying Pan Weapon Camo, given as a gift by, well, herself. It can be used on Wands to add a layer of comedy to every fight.
* InformedAttribute: Prior to some updates, Franka was originally dressed as a generic NPC, making her chef profession on the AllThereInTheManual side. One update made it more evident by giving her a chef hat and apron, and the Gathering system update promoted her to ''cafe owner'', as well as revamping her appearance to boot.
* TheSpeechless: In the sole cutscene she appears in, she has no voice.
