** In the anime version of the visit to Class 1-A, she also tells a stage fright-striken Tamaki he "needs to have the heart of a lion, not a kitten" talking to the students, which doesn't exactly help.

* TwoGuysAndAGirl: Although they are yet to be seen working together, the three seem to hang out together a lot, being that Mirio and Tamaki are ChildhoodFriends and Nejire seems close to them.

* BunnyEarsLawyer: She may be a bit scatterbrained and she may have some seriously skewed priorities, but there is no denying that she is a brilliant inventor. Power Loader even states that while she gets on his nerves, the Hero Department students would do well to befriend her because when it comes to inventing she has no equal.

* MaleGaze: This happens when both Midoriya and Uraraka stare at Hatsume's breasts following the aforementioned moment where she lands on top of him.

* SuperCostumeClothier: She's a member of the Development Studio and creates gadgets for the other students to use using her Quirk to see fine detail better when making these items. Not that stops said items exploding sometimes.

* UnknownRival: Very one-sided but Uraraka is quite jealous of her, in no small part due to her habit of invading Midoriya's personal space, flashing her cleavage and ignoring her while doing it. This is subverted in that Hatsume is obviously not interested in Midoriya for anything else than testing her gadgets on him.

* BigManOnCampus: He precedes Midoriya in this department due to being considered the closest one to All Might's greatness and being usually quite popular and repsected among his peers due to his mastery of his quirk.

* BoisterousBruiser: Mirio has no problem showing off his fun-loving and daring personality. Also, his frequent catchphrase is him [[BattleCry screaming out "POWER!"]] with a [[GrinOfAudacity hero smile]].

* BrainlessBeauty: Subverted. While she can come across as naive, she’s still part of the Big Three.

* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: She has blue hair, eyebrows, and eyes.

* FriendlessBackground: Her brief backstory in Chapter 361 reveals that, in their first year, Nejire's classmates found her intimidating because of her strength and Quirk. They believed that she was arrogant and looked down on the rest of them for being weaker than her. The first person from her class who was willing to talk to her? ''Tamaki''. Mirio followed suit. That's when Nejire opened up and felt comfortable enough to display her natural curiosity, which caused her depression to change into glee.

* InnocentlyInsensitive:

* MsFanservice: Nejire is last year's beauty pageant runner-up, [[spoiler:and this year's winner]]. Even ''Midoriya'' is awed by her good looks during her shoot. Her hero costume is essentially a skin-tight bodysuit.

* SociallyAwkwardHero: He can fight villains like a true professional, but he is very shy around people and awkward when trying to deal with or talk to other people and usually ends up with his head against a wall.

* ImNotHereToMakeFriends: He mentions that he has no intention of becoming buddies with anyone of the Hero Course, since he sees them as obstacles in his way of becoming a great hero. His [[FireForgedFriends audience]] doesn't take it too seriously -- Sero mentions that it looks just like what Todoroki said back in the Sports Festival (before he [[DefrostingIceQueen defrosted]] and became friends with them anyway) and Midoriya and Kaminari seem to want to become friends with Shinso anyway.

* CombatPragmatist: He doesn't fight particularly dirty, but he exploits his Quirk ''fully'' when to appear behind and beneath people to strike them while they're unaware, and to make people waste attacks by having them phase right through him. [[MurderArsonAndJaywalking He also]] [[FullFrontalAssault fights completely naked]], which throws off his opponents, though this one seems incidental.

* IdealHero: He's a morally upstanding, humble, and very strong young man, shown in his dedication to protecting [[DistressedDamsel Eri]]. He's this to the point that he was recommended to succeed All Might, who currently fulfills the niche.

* CoolLoser: What he starts off as. He has a very powerful Quirk but everyone avoided him due to how easily that Quirk could be used for nefarious purposes, which immediately shunt Shinso into the villain trashcan. Moreover, it's a passive power that lacks the flashy visuals and the direct physical quality of other Quirks seen in the Hero Course, putting him at a disadvantage in close-quarters combat. Regardless, Shinso chose early on that he would put his Quirk to benevolent use, no matter what other people might think of it, and that he would still try to enter the Hero Course by his own merit. After making quite the impression on his classmates and the faculty of U.A. during the Sports Festival, he gets accepted in the Hero Course upon the Joint Training Arc, proving himself a reliable and worthy student.

* ThePigpen: She's so enraptured in her work that she hardly takes showers. Midoriya notes this when she comes to give him his upgraded equipment. When he mentions her being dirty, she says that bathing would take a few minutes a day away from her inventing, so she doesn't bother.

* BFG: In the Final War Arc, He manages to create one after combining more than a dozen animal traits.

* FirstNameBasis: With Tamaki. Mirio refers to him by his given name rather than her surname with honorifics due to their closeness and history together.

* {{Foil}}: To Midoriya. Both want to be heroes and have their limitations. While Midoriya was naturally Quirkless, Shinso has a Quirk, but it can't be used for battle and is considered by people as an "evil" Quirk. Also, while Midoriya is TheParagon and tries to inspire people to follow him, Shinso is closer to a PragmaticHero, seeing use in simply manipulating others with his Quirk to achieve success in his plans.

* {{Foil}}:
** To Midoriya. They're both self-sacrificing heroes inspired by All Might who are in it for the greater good rather than any sort of personal gain. Both of them are considered exemplary young heroes and were singled out as potential successors to All Might. They also both have or have had serious difficulties controlling their Quirks. That said, Midoriya is a NervousWreck who CannotTellAJoke and is constantly injuring himself as he struggles to control what is possibly the most powerful Quirk in the entire series. Mirio is an outgoing PerpetualSmiler who spent his entire life mastering his extremely unwieldy Quirk to the point that he's nearly untouchable because of it. Midoriya's greatest strength is his analytical ability and encyclopedic knowledge of the world of heroes but is somewhat lacking in practical experience, even with his unusually action-packed school life. Mirio is BookDumb but has a wealth of experience due to his internship under Sir Nighteye, to the point that he was scouted as a potential #1 hero.
** He is one to Bakugo in some ways too. They are both blonde [[HeroicBuild athletic]] characters from UA who are considered to be some of the best students. Bakugo is a JerkJock GeniusBruiser BigJerkOnCampus whereas Mirio is a BookDumb LovableJock BigManOnCampus. Bakugo has been a [[TheBully bully]] and [[StockShonenRival rival]] to Midoriya whereas Mirio takes an [[BigBrotherMentor immediate liking]] towards him and takes him under his wings right away. Bakugo deems Midoriya unworthy of being a hero [[spoiler:(at least until he goes through a lot of CharacterDevelopment)]] and thinks he shouldn’t even be at U.A. Mirio, on the other hand respects Midoriya a lot and when he loses his Quirk, he rejects Midoriya’s offer to take One For All. Mirio loves humour whereas Bakugo has NoSenseOfHumour. Both Mirio and Bakugo like Bakugo’s hero name [[AtrociousAlias "Explosive Murder God Dynamight"]], but for different reasons: Bakugo likes it because he thinks it is cool (and also because it pays tribute to his hero All Might), Mirio likes it because he thinks it is funny. They both also make Midoriya feel insecure in different ways: Bakugo because he has [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter always been the best]] in both studies and combat and they mutually consider each other their rival, Mirio because he was initially one of the prospective successors of All Might, handpicked by his former sidekick himself, but [[UnknownRival does nothing to make Midoriya feel unworthy in any way]].
