* ScoobyDooHoax: In the anime, Gori bolsters Dombra Lake's "[[StockNessMonster Dossy]]" myth to allow him the opportunity to move in on some real estate, which further allows him access to the lake bed where the Dinosaur [=OOPart=] is hiding.

* {{Expy}}:
** You may find a few similarities between Empty and [[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork1 MagicMan.EXE]]. Heavy robes, pointy headgear, obscured face, Glowing Eyes of Doom, virus servants, ''et cetera''.
** His origin is eerily similar to that of [=Hub/MegaMan.EXE=] himself. Both were created by a person trying to resurrect a loved one(Vega her lover, Yuichiro his son) by using computer technology. The main difference between them being that [=MegaMan=] apparently was Hub reborn, while Hollow isn't Altair.
** As being instrumental to the plan of the BigBad and a mysterious character with a shrouded background with a close link is one to Iris.EXE. He performs more as an EvilCounterpart and a Foil to her and Colonel as TheDragon. They even had a background with the history of war where Iris was split from Colonel to as the weapons control program, Hollow formerly Altair was slain in the war. In the end Iris was able to merge with her brother performing a HeroicSacrifice while Hollow sacrificed himself to protect his loved one revealing his former self. They played a role in the defeat of the final boss securing the protagonist's future.
** Once the deceased of the loved one in a husk of their former selves is one to Quon Kisaragi from Rahxephon.

** And not just a TheatrePhantom, but a ''{{Movie Theater|Episode}}'' Phantom, no less.

* TheGimmick: Dark Phantom is a TheatrePhantom (a {{Movie Theater|Episode}} Phantom, no less) who's also an [[OurGhostsAreDifferent actual phantom]].

* AmbiguousSituation: Due to being AmbiguouslyRelated to the alien species of the first game, is Auriga General a wave-changed EM Human? He lacks the fiery body typical of un-transformed FM-ians and AM-ians.

* TheDragon: Out of all of Apollo Flame's henchmen, he serves as this due to being the penultimate boss before Apollo himself.

* AGodAmI: A subtle clue to this effect appears in her gown: the floaty translucent cloth that travels from her neckline around behind her shoulders and back again is based on the ''tenne'', a clothing element that often features in Japanese art featuring divine figures--Vega dresses as though she were a god.

* FanservicePack:
** The ''Tribe'' anime took the liberty of outright ''tripling'' the size of her bust.
** The finery she wears during the final arc was reworked to have an ImpossiblyLowNeckline.

* FanservicePack: Her sprite doesn't particularly suggest anything Fanservice-worthy about her, but when we meet her in the anime, hoo, boy.

* TheGimmick: Dark Phantom is a TheatrePhantom (a [[{{Film}} movie]] theatre phantom, no less) who's also an [[OurGhostsAreDifferent actual phantom]].

* TheGimmick: Dark Phantom is a TheatrePhantom (really a [[{{Film}} cinema]] phantom) who's also an [[OurGhostsAreDifferent actual phantom]].

** With his NonElemental allignment, [[BlowYouAway Wind]] Attribute, and somewhat SissyVillain status, he fills Cygnus Wing's niche quite nicely.
** He also has takes some cues from [=ShadeMan.EXE=], filling his role from ''Battle Network 4'' and ''5'', and ''Axess'' in ''Star Force 2'' and ''3'', despite differences in their personalities. Their attacks and tactics are also noted as similar. Not to mention the coffin thing.
** He also may be in part inspired by Creator/GaryOldman's performance as Literature/{{Dracula}} in [[Film/BramStokersDracula Coppola's adaptation]].

** Apollon Flame's role in the game similar to Serenade of ''VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork3'', being an {{Light|EmUp}}-themed {{Optional|Boss}} {{Superboss}} waiting at the end of a post-game BonusDungeon. Both also use notable [[BarrierWarrior defensive tactics]] and their designs incorporate elements resembling ''tenne'', the long ribbonlike garment often seen flowing around the shoulders of supernatural beings in Japanese art. On top of ''that'', beating Apollon Flame unlocks the most powerful form of TheRival Solo like Serenade's defeat made the next version of Bass available, of whom Solo is a deliberate imitation.

** Arguably based on Serenade.EXE due to his status as the final post-game dungeon {{Superboss}} that unlocks the rival's most powerful form with almost somewhat identical defensive measures and limited moveset that can create tactics to push one to the utmost dead end if not keeping up.

* AchillesPowerCord: Zigzagged. In the anime, outside of Densan University, Hollow appears to be tethered to Orihime's car. This is graphically presented as a leash, but rather than sever this cord, the actual target is the battery in Orihime's car.

* StacysMom: In the anime, when he takes Geo's mom Hope HostageForMacguffin during the final arc of the ''Tribe'' anime, he does so under the pretense that he wants her to model for a painting to keep her unawares. While he gets caught up in his painting, he lavishes compliments on her about how beautiful she is, but it's [[AmbiguousSituation never indicated clearly]] whether he thinks she's beautiful in the straightforward sense or if he likes her as a horrific vision typical of his art.

* BossRush: Most of the Alternate Future consists of revisiting segments of previous dungeons before fighting powered up versions of various bosses in the game. * DeathOfPersonality: Despite looking exactly like the various FMians and UMAs seen throughout the game, their personalities are different, though Dark Phantom IF's is mostly unchanged and he seems to be the only one who knows who [=MegaMan=] is. Upon destroying Gemini Spark IF, [=MegaMan=] feels sad for destroying them.

** OurVampiresAreDifferent: Hyde has some traits similar to a vampire too. He is described as a parasite by Rogue, and he indeed specializes in making commensalist/parasitic bonds. He also gives out [=UMAs=], corrupting and transforming others, and he also kidnaps and transforms Luna into Queen Ophicus again. Hyde's entrance to Japan/Electopia, sealed in a coffin, on a airplane, gives a very strong vampiric vibe, and is probably a direct shot-out to Literature/{{Dracula}}. In the Anime, he is an ImmortalitySeeker, just like any VampireVannabe.
* PerkyGoth: For a man obsessed as he is with death and decay, he's pretty darn cheerful.

* TheatrePhantom: His wave-changed form Dark Phantom clearly takes inspiration from the Phantom of the Opera, right down to him being a theatrical type who abducts a young woman for his plans. Unlike his inspiration, he later proves to be a far more pathetic individual.

* MsFanservice: Her FanservicePack in the anime [[DownplayedTrope is never given direct attention]], but it is ''impossible'' not to notice.

* FanservicePack: It's impossible to tell in her spritework, but if you squint at Lady Vega's character art you can tell she ''has'' a chest beneath her finery. The anime, on the other hand, all but ''tripled'' the size of her bust.

** During the mid-point climax of the first anime, Cygnus introduced a PlotDevice called the Radio Composer that allowed the FM-ians to take on their solid EM Human forms without needing to find a human host to do a FusionDance with. The ''Tribe'' anime {{RetCon}}ned the Radio Composer to be an invention of Dr. Vega's.

* GadgeteerGenius: She is responsible for the development of Matter Wave technology. In the anime, she is also famous for the development of a little machine called a Radio Composer, which was used by Cygnus Wing to complete his EM Wave Change machine, though this was all back in season one.
