* AlternateSelf: 616 Monica Rambeau has an AlternateUniverse counterpart, from a "universe" distinct from the reglar Marvel [[TheMultiverse multiverse]] no less, coming from "Earth A" rather than being identified by any numeric code. AlternateUniverse tourism is the only fantastic thing Monica of Universe A is really interested in however, and otherwise detests the superpowers Monica 616 has come to cherish. Non the less A Monica is still a good person who will use her gifts to help people if she encounters such a situation, [[ContrivedCoincidence which she usually does]].

* PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery: Genis chains up CosmicEntity Eternity and proceedes to crush Eternity to death in an effort to get ride of his own cosmic awareness, which Genis can't stand to the point it is driving him insane. His plan works, but in his regained clarity Genis realizes he just destroyed the universe, save for himself and another CosmicEntity, the "friendless" Entropy. Entropy encourages Genis-Vell to help bring the universe back, even though doing so will probably drive Genis insane again, and Genis obliges, but shooting Entropy in the head.

The ''"Captain Marvel"'' magazine lasted for 62 issues (May, 1968-May, 1979). Tragically, Marvel didn't live long after his series was cancelled. In a very rare case of a comic book character being KilledOffForReal, he died from a cancer he got from exposure to nerve gas during one of his adventures. His death was covered ''The Death Of Captain Marvel'' (''Marvel Graphic Novel'' #1, April 1982, written and illustrated by Jim Starlin), and Mar-Vell's death is universally considered one of the most touching, well-written and dignified in the history of comics.
