A list of the politicians and other politically-aligned figures in the ''Kitsune no Ken'' universe. They are members of one of the two prevailing political parties, [[FictionalPoliticalParty the United Liberty Party (ULP) and the Advanced People's Party (APP)]]; at the time the story is set, the ULP is the ruling party and the APP is the opposition party, until the twenty-third Gaiden when their roles have been reversed following the APP's victory at the polls.
Jiraiya, who is the Justice Ministry's permanent secretary, has his own entry in the "Other Antagonists" folder, and other political figures who appear in the story have their own entries elsewhere in the Characters list.
!!Kazahana Sousetsu
The leader of the ULP, and the country's Prime Minister at the time the story takes place.
* DeathGlare: When Tourism Minister Akahoshi dares to mouth off to Sousetsu during a meeting in the twenty-eighth Gaiden, Sousetsu gives him a glare that, to quote the narrative, "would've melted iron."
* GreaterScopeParagon: He takes over this role from Aoba as of the twenty-eighth Gaiden.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: [[spoiler:He knows nothing about the circumstances surrounding the DeceasedFallGuyGambit or of Aoba's plans to sniff out the truth. He is ''not'' pleased about either situation when he eventually finds out in the twenty-eighth Gaiden]].
* SparedByTheAdaptation: In the canon series' first movie, he was killed in the back-story.
!!Omono Dokku

* NamedByTheAdaptation: Dokku didn't have a surname in the canon series.
!!Yamashiro Aoba
The Minister of Justice, personally handpicked by Prime Minister Kazahana to replace his predecessor, the late Ishikawa.
* GreaterScopeParagon: He's Minato's direct supervisor in the latter's search to uncover the truth behind the Kyuushingai training program and the Nine Terrors' rampage.
* UnexpectedSuccessor: Prior to his appointment, Aoba was a Minister without Portfolio in the Prime Minister's office; the only reason he got his new post was because Jiraiya, the Justice Ministry's Permanent Secretary, refused to take on the role himself out of respect to the recently-deceased Ishikawa. [[spoiler:Although Aoba himself quickly learns that Jiraiya's actual reason was to provide PlausibleDeniability in case anyone found out about Ishikawa's role in the DeceasedFallGuyGambit]].
!!Minister Byakuren
The Minister of National Security.
* BadassBaritone: He's described as having a voice like this, despite his advanced age.
* CoolOldGuy: When Naruto declares that Jiraiya's a pervert, Byakuren's response is to laugh about it and then bring up a NoodleIncident that Jiraiya was involved in.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: While he does briefly chastise Naruto for the work the security forces had to undergo thanks to the 365 days, Byakuren acknowledges that nobody is immune to making mistakes, and that Naruto is being TheAtoner.
!!Sarutobi Hiruzen
A relatively minor character in this fic, he serves in the Ministry of Defense and has had at least one encounter with Naruto in the past.
* CoolOldGuy
* DemotedToExtra: Recall that in canon, he was a major supporting character prior to his death in the Invasion of Konoha arc.
* DirtyOldMan: Tsunade flattens him for it.
* NiceGuy: His being this actually saved him in the back-story--prior to the start of the 365 days, he came across Naruto looking despondent and offered to be a listening ear to the boy's troubles. Naruto's response was to advise him to take his family and flee the city, which only a short while later would end up bearing the brunt of the 365 days' initial devastation.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: His intervention is the only reason Naruto didn't get immediately arrested following the first encounter with Aoi's gang.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: Unlike his canon counterpart, he survives right to the end of the story.
