* GroundhogDayLoop: Kira uses Bites the Dust on Hayato's corpse to rewind time by one hour, which nullifies his death. After that, whenever someone is about to figure about Kira's identity or learns it from Hayato, the person will explode and time then rewinds by one hour. Hayato is thus trapped in time loops and only he is able to remember what happened in the previous loop. Hayato starts to grasp that he's stuck in time loops by the third time time has rewinded, and he manages to force Kira to revoke Bites the Dust by the fourth loop after Kira blurts his out his true name to his nearby enemy. It should be noted that the first loop has not been shown to the audience, but since Hayato has experienced it, Rohan's Heaven's Door is able to reveal that event.

* GuardianEntity: He gets a guardian spirit imposed to him by Kira with Bites the Dust, which provides Hayato with a miniature version of Killer Queen that protects him from any harm, whether it's self-inflicted or from other people, including Kira himself. However, as long as Killer Queen is still with Hayato, Kira is defenseless without a Stand, thus he has to cancel Bites the Dust in order for Killer Queen to return.

* DrivenToSuicide: When Josuke, Jotaro, Okuyasu and Koichi find him and are about to question him about the photograph of him filming his "father", Hayato's attempts to bail out fail, so he tries to slit his throat with a box cutter in order to avoid their deaths. Since he's the "bomb", killing himself would defuse the bomb and he's hoping that after his death that the gang would find and defeat Kira and save his mother. Unfortunately, Bite the Dust stops the box cutter from even touching his throat and it ends up blowing up the gang and killing them anyway.

** When Okuyasu has to determine which of two SPW workers is really Akira, his solution is to punch both of them because he doesn't have time to figure it out. Luckily for the real SPW worker, he gets it right on the first try.

* YouKilledMyFather: While his opposition to Kira is predominantly about protecting his still-living mother, in the finale, he reveals that part of his animosity stems from Kira killing his father, the real Kosaku, in order to impersonate him. Even after Kira's defeat and death, Hayato still wanted him punished for his father's murder so he could get proper closure.

** The Crazy Heartbreakers novel seems to imply that Josuke's savior doesn't actually exist, with Josuke seeming to think about a backstory for his hair on the fly, and a later scene having Tomoko recalling while talking with Hol Horse about the car getting stuck was on the way back (though she can't exactly remember). Because of this, the real reason why Josuke's pompadour is a thing is because he used to have long hair, and after getting beat up for it one day, he styled his hair into the current pomp the following morning after Ryohei pointed out his long hair messed with his peripheral vision to where he couldn't see attacks from the side. This would mean that not only is Josuke's attitude towards people insulting his hair isn't just DisproportionateRetribution, but it's just plain ''petty'', enough that he makes up a whole story to justify his reactions.

* NiceGuy: He expresses love for his family, holds his friends in esteem (in Japanese, he calls all of his peers with "kun", which is a suffix of endearment), and tends to presume innocence on the part of strangers. Rohan's Heaven's Door Stand exposes Koichi as honest and courageous.

* OlderThanTheyLook: He starts out at 15 years old, but one could easily mistake him for an elementary school student in a high school uniform due to his short height. He should be 18 by the time of ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind Golden Wind]]'', but [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DCvFoZbXoAQKPKW.jpg he's still so short that he only comes up to Giorno's waist]], even though the latter is three years younger than he is. According to the ''[=JoJo=] 6251'' artbook, he's supposed to be about 5'2" tall, but he's drawn way shorter. The live-action film rectifies this by casting an appropriately-aged teenager as Koichi.

* InverseLawOfUtilityAndLethality: The ''other'' reason why the Hand isn't as powerful as it could've been, aside from Okuyasu simply [[IdiotHero being an idiot.]] It doesn't take much brainpower to just use the Stand to swipe people out of existence, yet Okuyasu consistently holds his punches during most of his fights; note that, even as an antagonist, Okuyasu opted to pummel Josuke rather than swipe him with the Hand. In general, its immense destructive potential is held back due to Okuyasu being reluctant to go for the kill, much like the other heroes of the part.
