* CombatMedic: Simulated Universe allows him to become one if you pick up a particular blessing. ''Being of Abundance, Becoming One Mind'' causes all allies to receive a portion of the healing received by the main beneficiary. [[LoopholeAbuse This includes self-targeting heals]] such as Blade's Talent or his Ultimate if he triggers it while he has no more than half his HP. Given that his Talent always heals him for a quarter of his Max HP, this blessing allows him to heal his allies for a decent amount if he's got enough HP built up.

* TranquilFury: Though she never raises her voice, she's visibly furious at Sampo's (actually Sparkle) continuous meddling in her time with the Trailblazer, not helped by how Sampo uses each chance they met to undermine the Trailblazer's trust in her.

* AffablyEvil: As "Sam", "he" always speaks rather gently and politely [[DubPersonalityChange in languages other than English]], and "he" laments that all "he's" good at is causing mass destruction, compared to other Stellaron Hunters with a wider variety of skill sets. And as Firefly, she is a downright sweet and polite young woman who can be even outright heroic in the face of great disaster. It can be easy to forget that, as S.A.M, Firefly has a reputation for being the most ruthlessly straightforward of the Stellaron Hunters, sparing no mercy to those she's tasked to get rid of.

* DubNameChange: Actually a twofer - Firefly's name is typically given as the local term for the insect in each language version. So in the original Chinese, she's 流萤 (''Liúyíng'', "wandering firefly"), in Japanese she's ホタル ("Hotaru", or firefly, in katakana)[[note]]this is the same as the Japanese name for the female Traveler of ''VideoGame/GenshinImpact'', Lumine, but in katakana instead of kanji[[/note]], in Spanish she's Luciérnaga, in German she's Glühwürmchen, and so on (curiously, the Viet, Thai and Indonesian versions use "Firefly" in its English spelling for her name). Additionally, however, while the S.A.M.'s acronym (and thus the "Sam" alias) remains consistent across languages, what the acronym ''stands for'' change - in English, it's a '''S'''trategic '''A'''ssault '''M'''echa, while in the Portuguese version, it's a '''S'''istema de '''A'''taque '''M'''ecânico, for example.

* ShipTease: Her moments together with the Trailblazer on their tour of the Golden Hour pretty much ''ooze'' this trope, which includes getting some food together, playing games, and capping it with a tender moment at her secret base where there's a romantic view of a sunset, upon which they take a selfie together. Acheron even teases them on their so-called date, and the description of the secret base warp point points out that the view "will be the generator of romantic memories for countless lovers in the foreseeable future". Later when they investigate her first memory echo after her [[FakingTheDead "death"]], Firefly refers to the Trailblazer by name when reporting to her collaborator; Acheron and Black Swan note how close they've gotten for Firefly to still think of them even when apart. Even before she parted ways with the Trailblazer before Penacony's climactic battle [[spoiler: against Sunday]], she outright wishes to meet with them once again in the real world, as opposed to their previous interactions in the Dreamscape.

* TheFakeCutie: Firefly is a beautiful young woman who plays up her innocence and defenselessness around the Trailblazer when in reality, she's the true identity of the Stellaron Hunter Sam, who usually behaves ruthlessly and pragmatically and admits that brute force is all "he's" good for. Despite this, there's the implication that all the time she spent with the Trailblazer was done of her own volition and not part of the "script", especially with how profusely she apologizes to the Trailblazer for her deception in 2.2 and her seemingly sincere wish to see them again in the waking world.

Yes, her Entropy Loss Syndrome will ensure the universe leaves her behind one day. Yes, she wishes to be more than just a weapon, and to break free of her fate. But she believes in fighting her struggles with her own two hands, not running from them]].

* DelicateAndSickly: She mentions that she suffers from [[FictionalDisability a condition called Entropy Loss Syndrome]], where the sufferer will experience time slower than anyone else and gradually [[CessationOfExistence fade away from existence]]. [[NotDisabledInVR She lives in the Dreamscape as a means to escape her condition and interact with the world]], as her real body is stuck in a hospital. Or at least so she tells the Trailblazer; [[ManInTheMachine by "hospital", she meant "Sam"]]. Sam discloses after "his" fight with Acheron that "he" can't dream, implying that "he" entered the Dreamscape through Silver Wolf's method instead of the Dreampool. The "crack" in her face shown after she deactivates the Sam armor implies that the disease is real, which is confirmed in the description of her Extraterrestrial Satellite Communication post and in the 2.2 Trailblaze quest.

* AntiVillain: Compared to the perpetually serene Kafka, the utterly indifferent Silver Wolf, and the violently unstable Blade, Sam seems to be the only member who has clear misgivings about the villainous role "he" often has to play in Elio's script and wishes "he" was capable of more than just being a killer, ironic given that "he's" the most physically destructive out of the Stellaron Hunters thus far.

* GunNut: With her past as a SuperSoldier, she has major experience with various weapons and seems to have grown quite fond of them. It gets played for comedy when she grows enamoured with the Hanu Launcher (a cartoonish bazooka used by Brother Hanu during his segments) and sounds audibly dejected that she can't keep it.

* LightningBruiser: The Sam armor is at least seven feet tall and towers over the entire playable cast, but is no less slower for it, being able to launch into high speed flight in seconds and hit hard enough that the only entity shown giving Sam any sort of trouble is Acheron, who is deliberately WillfullyWeak most of the time.
* LivingWeapon: Firefly and the S.A.M. were manufactured together as a weapon of mass destruction to fight the Swarm's invasion of Glamoth. She subtly wishes that she could do more than just "scorching earth" (compared to her more skillful fellow members) and believes that the mission to Penacony may fix that. It doesn't help that she got inflicted with Entropy Loss Syndrome as a side effect of the process that created her.

** For all the no-nonsense attitude Sam is shown to prefer, he is not above messing with the Trailblazer, shown by constantly posting cutesy Pom-Pom stickers via Blade's text messages in response to a mistakenly sent attachment. This is one of the early hints towards the true identity beneath the armor.

* OhCrap: When Acheron declares that she knows who resides beneath the armored suit, Sam gives off a small gasp. It's after this that "he" mellows out significantly, opening up about some repressed feelings to Acheron, and gives her directions on how to resolve the mystery of Penacony.

* SamusIsAGirl: Near the end of the Trailblaze Mission "Cat Among the Pigeons", "Sam" casts off "his" armor in front of the Trailblazer, revealing none other than '''Firefly''' inside of it. Amusingly, "he's" only two letters off Samus' own name.
* ScrewDestiny: As a member of interplanetary outlaws who [[YouCantFightFate don't exactly believe in the concept of altering destinies]], Firefly is surprisingly motivated to escape her [[YourDaysAreNumbered Entropy Loss Syndrome condition]] which comes as a side effect of her original genetic modification as a SuperSoldier. However, her efforts to sidestep fate now and then up before the moment Elio's script allows her to do things in Penacony keeps on failing somehow.

* SorryThatImDying: Her (apparent) last words before seeming to get killed by Something Unto Death is "Sorry", the meaning of which the Trailblazer pondered if the player returned to her secret base. After TheReveal, it can be inferred that she apologized for both for seeming to deceive the Trailblazer and for finding it impossible to go "off-script" and reveal things early.

* SweetPollyOliver: While wearing PoweredArmor, "Sam" has a masculine voice and apparent build. "Sam" is also usually referred to with male pronouns when necessary. But the figure that reveals herself under the armor after a fiery de-transformation sequence is the very feminine Firefly. Glamoth's original reason for giving the Sam armor a male voice changer is still unknown, but Firefly has found it a useful way to maintain a SecretIdentity since joining the Stellaron Hunters.
* TechnicolorEyes: As Firefly, her eyes are noticeably two-toned blue and pink, incidentally being a near-precise inversion of March 7th's own unusual two-tone eye color.
* TheyCallHimSword: It eventually turns out that "Firefly Type-4" is actually her S.A.M's model designation, suggesting that she took the name for herself after becoming independent. (Worth noting that the armor is called "Firefly" in English in all dubs while her name is usually [[ThisIsMyNameOnForeign the word for "firefly" in the respective language]].)

* TokenGoodTeammate: While it's more correct to say that the Stellaron Hunters are more AmbiguouslyEvil as opposed to downright malicious, Firefly is easily the kindest and most approachable member of the group thanks to her earnest friendliness and desire to help the Astral Express Crew in solving the Penacony crisis, as opposed to Kafka's more dubious directives in telling the Crew to solve Xianzhou Luofu's Stellaron problem several chapters earlier. It gets to the point that Himeko and Kafka, who usually don't want to be [[DoesntTrustThoseGuys involved with the Hunters in any way]], go so far as being friendly and accommodating to her when Firefly temporarily joined forces with the Crew in the 2.2 storyline, with Himeko, in particular, saying that she sees the spirit of the Nameless within Firefly.

Her other persona as Sam is a masculine-looking armor that covers her completely. This is ironically turned on its head when she has the armor on after the reveal, as cut-in reaction shots of her while in her armor during cutscenes [[OutOfClothesExperience depict her from the neckline up as being completely nude]].

* BeneathTheMask: As Sam, "he" is ruthlessly pragmatic and seemingly cold-hearted, which makes how warmly Firefly acts all the more jarring. Though the legitimacy of how she acted as Firefly was called into question with the reveal of her connection to Sam, it's shown that she told Blade that she wants to be remembered in the end for who she is outside of the Sam armor, indicating that how she acted while with the Trailblazer is close to her real personality, or at least how she ''wishes'' she could act. Sam's conversations with the Trailblazer in "Cat Among the Pigeons" also imply that "he" doesn't like being only good at destroying and killing.

* OutOfFocus: After the opening segment with Kafka, Silver Wolf fades into irrelevance pretty quickly, only get a Companion Mission and an appearance in the Aetherium Wars event to her name since then. She was supposedly deployed onto Penacony alongside Sam, but spends the entire arc as TheGhost.

** Her ability is apparently so effective that it works on any self-aware being, including Svarog (a robot), Herta and Xueyi (who control robotic [[RemoteBody Remote Bodies]]), Tail (a heliobus possessing part of Huohuo's body), Black Swan (a literal LivingMemory), Acheron (an [[SemiDivine Emanator of Nihility]]) and Gallagher [[spoiler:(a person who took traits of more than 52 people)]].

A SuperSoldier from the planet Glamoth who was created as part of that nation's Iron Cavalry Regiment in an ultimately futile effort to combat the Swarm of Tayzzyronth. Now the sole remnant of her unit, Firefly later discovered that she has a unique disease called Entropy Loss Syndrome due to the genetic modifications that created her which would eventually erase her from existence. Elio promised her an opportunity to find meaning in her life and defy her fate if, in exchange, she would once again don the S.A.M. armor under the Stellaron Hunters' banner.

* EarlyBirdCameo: Prior to Sam's appearance in Penacony, "he" was mentioned in a wanted notice by the IPC and offhandedly by Kafka in her Companion Mission and by Silver Wolf in her Parlor Car chat. * EstablishingCharacterMusic: The in-universe song by Robin, "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking", serves as hers. Played when she opens up to the Trailblazer about her dream and illness, it serves to show her desire to escape the confines her body imposes on her and to reach out for her dream in Penacony. Fittingly, it plays in the same spot as her secret base and after her "death". After her reveal as the person beneath Sam, this song actually establishes her bitterness at having a sealed fate while wishing to be something more than a PersonOfMassDestruction.

** Despite apparently being a warm, kind, and gentle girl, Firefly cannot perceive Clockie, who can [[OnlyThePureOfHeart only be seen by those with pure and innocent hearts]]. Honesty is also a factor, which the Trailblazer can call particular attention to in a dialogue option. Sure enough, if the other Hunters' stories about Sam are true, she's nowhere near as innocent as she seems.
