* BenevolentBoss: He doesn't maintain much of a heavy hand in running his unit, unless a command decision is needed, he's happy to delegate to his subordinates.
* ColonelBadass: In the expanded universe, [[TeamDad Zead Elger]] is said to have been a Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army prior to joining the Durandal.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: As a Missileer, this is his standard form of attack, and it only gets more powerful as he gets access to bigger launchers. He can also attack from an unlimited range so long as he has a sensor spotter and clear LOS.
* OldSoldier: And a skilled one at that. Zead formerly worked as a member of an anti-terrorist squad, and is Durandal's "official" squad leader due to his combat experience.
