* PetTheDog - Not only does he like children, he has a tendency to care about animals that doesn't deserve it: biting canaries, evil monkeys, worms, etc. If you breathed a word of any of this to him, he'd [[{{Tsundere}} try to deny it]].

* MusclesAreMeaningless - When he stops even bothering with being a TechnicalPacifist, he threatens to break any bone in Fitz's body (Fitz seems to doubt his willingness to do so but not his ability), and can ''stab a man with his thumb'', although he's described as "slight" and "bony".

* KavorkaMan - Apparently, everyone wants the evil fat guy with the bad haircut! Yeah, I don't get it either!

--> Sam: "...The way he looks at certain people. Women and men. But he never acts on anything."[[hottip:*:In fact, there are occasional blatant hints at him having romantic/sexual relationships, but those mostly come later in the series.]]

A recurring [[BackFromTheDead (and how!)]] villain starting from ''The Adventuress of Henrietta Street''. He's a member of FactionParadox, a [[MindScrew very strange]] sort of a voodoo cult which likes causing paradoxes, and was born in the 18th century.

* BrokenHero - If you were to simplify Fitz's character into a single trope, it would be this one. His history is fraught with more terrible and spirit-break events than most companions you could name. And yet, he maintains a snarky fun-loving attitude.[[hottip:*: It may be significant that the first thing Fitz is ever shown as doing is pretending to be someone else. It is very obviously a coping mechanism. Possibly, his cheerful happy demeanor is a bit BecomingTheMask, in that he seems so undamaged by his past because he's spent so long pretending not to be.]]

Check. Sometimes he sees the silver lining in impending doom because at least he'll get to see his dear old mum again. Sometimes he is annoyingly excited about getting to wear a flamboyant outfit. And he once somehow managed to put off a mind-shattering identity crisis for about six books. He is a strange, screwed-up person who's, on the whole, cheerful anyway.

* [[WagTheDirector Wag the Conductor]]: In ''The Year of Intelligent Tigers'', the Doctor joins an orchestra as first violinist. He is ''very'' gifted, but becomes a massive diva, eventually playing a solo over 100 bars long. It was supposed to be ''24''. He only stops when his violin strings break. [[{{Understatement}} The rest of the orchestra is not pleased.]] After being called out for his antics, he tells the conductor-composer that ''he'' doesn't understand the music because he's human. Then the Doctor throws the music sheets into the air, smashes his violin, and flounces off.

It's almost like every EDA he is in is required to add another reason (or five) to why Fitz should be a horrible, cynical, broken person. The fact he's not is ''absolutely astonishing''.

Let's see... they kiss (multiple times, although [[CloudCuckooLander the]] [[RaisedByWolves Doctor]] always initiates it), Fitz outright admits he loves the Doctor (although possibly in a strictly platonic sense) and on a separate occasion mentions he has a crush on him, the Doctor sometimes gets very upset when they're separated, and there's the infamous [[HomoeroticDream Bottom Dream]].

*WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes - When he was a child, he was stung all over by wasps and is thus scared of basically all bugs. One of the novels he's in is called ''Eater of Wasps'', which is more or less ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.
