** Tagoma is prominently shown on the cover of the poster for the movie, making it seem that he'll have a CoDragons type relationship with Sorbet. He lasts for maybe ten or so minutes before telling Frieza that he maybe shouldn't go after the Super Saiyans and instead focus on rebuilding his empire, at which point Frieza [[ThrownOutTheAirlock tosses his ass out of the ship]].

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: In ''Super'', Tagoma is never seen again after Ginyu tricks him into triggering his body swap technique and leaves him stuck in the body of a Namekian Frog. While he is presumably still alive (provided he didn't get killed in the crossfire of Goku and Vegeta's battle with Frieza), Tagoma will have to live the rest of his life as a frog due to Vegeta killing Ginyu while the latter is in Tagoma's body and Tagoma lacking the power to swap bodies with anyone.

* AlasPoorVillain: In the film, he's killed by Frieza just for telling him to stay away from Goku. In ''Super'' he's mentally broken, has his body stolen by Ginyu who gets it blown up by Vegeta, and is most likely killed in the crossfire during Goku's fight with Frieza.

** Subverted in ''Dragon Ball Super'', where he survives that suggestion and goes on to become the strongest soldier in the army, even shocking Sorbet with his power level, who declares him even stronger than the former Ginyu Force through his scouter. Tagoma then prepares to dispatch the Z Warriors, alerting even Goten and Trunks (who were away from the battlefield) with the sheer power of his ki.

* AliensAreBastards: They come from a variety of different planets across the cosmos, and a very large portion of them are portrayed more as vicous criminals and thugs than innocent aliens ForcedIntoEvil. Dodoria and Cui are sadistic elites who ''enjoy'' killing people and have absolutely no qualms with [[WouldHurtAChild murdering children]]. The Ginyu force is genuinely loyal to Frieza. Even the standard grunts like Banan, Sui, and Orlen are shown to be very mean people. Blueberry suggests using the Dragon Balls to make himself and Raspberry stronger than Frieza so they can take over his empire. Few if any soldiers are shown to feel remorse about their crimes.

* BackFromTheBrink: [[spoiler:After being revived as a reward for his assistance in the Tournament of Power, TheStinger of ''Super'' episode 131 shows Frieza taking preliminary steps to salvage his Empire]].

* ContinuityCameo: The manga adaptation to ''Resurrection F'' has aliens from non-canon parts of the franchise making cameos in the 1,000 New Frieza Army:

* EdibleThemeNaming: The minions are named after food products that can be put into a refrigerator which represents Frieza. The vast majority are named after fruits as a contrast to the vegetable-themed Saiyans, the Ginyu Force are named after milk products, and the rest are named after other products.
* EliteMook: Soldiers with more than 1000 power are considered elite, although to the point that they are introduced they are overshadowed by many characters.

* EqualOpportunityEvil: Frieza isn't picky about who gets into the Frieza Force. Even non-fighters like doctors and tech support are welcomed and he didn't mind the Saiyans being part of his force despite how much he feared them. All Frieza wants is for men to be good at their job and loyal to him.

* FantasticRacism: Despite being EqualOpportunityEvil, the vast majority of the Frieza Force looked down on the Saiyans, seeing them as brainless monkeys. Vegeta, in particular, stands out since he was an elite subordinate who was being groomed to be Frieza's next [[TheDragon Dragon]], yet he was treated just as poorly as the other Saiyans. Justified, since quite a few of them were stronger than the average Saiyan without being frontline fighters.

* HealingVat: Injured soldiers are healed inside Medical Machines filled with artificial Saiyan DNA. Likely inspired by the bacta tanks from ''Franchise/StarWars''.

* RapePillageAndBurn: The main reason why the Frieza Army is so dreaded in Universe Seven is that part and parcel to ''all'' of their pacification/liquidation of planetary real estate are gleefully committed crimes of terrorism, theft, robbery, murder and torture of the civilian population. Like any self-respecting mafioso, Frieza does ''not'' care how his men treat the occupants of his fiefdom as long as he ''gets the land'' and that those ''allowed'' to live ''respect and obey'' his absolute authority. If a few hundred alien women "disgraced", a few thousand elderly left homeless and a few million of their children die mutilated in the process? You can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs in the "real estate business."

* TotallyNotACriminalFront: Officially, they are referred to as the ''Planet Trade Organization''. However, anyone with any sense would know how their idea of selling "real estate" (planets), [[WouldBeRudeToSayGenocide is clearing out the occupants to sell them off]], [[EarthShatteringKaboom or outright blowing them up]], [[GalacticConqueror or merely conquering the planets they come across]]. The Galactic Patrol are well aware of what they are, [[PoliceAreUseless but are too weak and perhaps too small]] to do anything about them.

* UnskilledButStrong: All their strongest fighters, and Freeza himself, are explicitly [[{{Mutant}} mutants]] that were simply born stronger than anyone else of their species, and never really trained like the heroes did. This means that while they're all overwhelmingly strong, they're also shockingly ignorant of basic techniques like sensing ''ki'' (hence why they all rely on Scouters), and many of them underestimate the heroes because suppressing or focusing your strength are completely alien concepts to them.

* WeHaveBecomeComplacent: Because of how overwhelmingly powerful Frieza is, most of his soldiers tend to rely on his strength to protect them and deter anyone from rebelling against the empire, resulting in them getting rusty. Vegeta even calls them out on relying on Frieza to protect them while he fought on the front lines getting stronger, with Cui and Dodoria in particular, dying at his hands screaming for Frieza to save them. The only shown soldiers to subvert this is the Ginyu Force.

* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: Like his sons, he can live in space.
* BewareTheSuperman: Cold and his family are all mutant, abnormally-powerful examples of their mysterious race. They use that power to run a deadly interstellar crime syndicate.

* BrilliantButLazy: Just like his son, he never trained in his life, yet was almost as strong as him. He could become as strong as his son if he were to push himself to his limits like Frieza.

* HiddenDepths: King Cold, despite not being explored at all in the franchise, is stated to have warned Frieza about Beerus and Majin Buu and to never face them. While he may have at one point personally met Beerus, as the God of Destruction tend to travel to different planets as part of his job (as King Vegeta can attest to), the fact ''he knows about Majin Buu is'' is quite remarkable, as only the Supreme Kais and the wizards from the Demon Realm knew about him.

* KnowWhenToFoldEm: According to ''Resurrection 'F''', he knew about both Majin Buu and Beerus and had warned his son to never try to fight them.

* NonActionGuy: He might have been a great warrior in the past (he ''did'' create the Cold/Frieza Force) but in the present day it's pretty clear that he's gone to seed. His "fight" with Trunks barely even qualifies for the word, and the games have had to invent most of his moves whole cloth (along with heavily associating him with Trunks' sword) just because we see so little of what he can do.

* OutOfFocus: Despite the amount of importance Cold has (being responsible for the Frieza's reign, being the Father of Frieza and Cooler, inducting the Saiyans into their army, knowing about Beerus and Buu, etc.), there's very little known about him. It's not even known what capabilities he has, or why he retired to let Frieza take over for him.

* RetiredMonster: In ''Anime/DragonBallSuperBroly'', it's revealed that he passed down the Planet Trade Organization to his son Frieza. Even announcing it to the Saiyans.

* VillainsWantMercy: As soon as Trunks has him at his mercy, Cold begs for his life. It doesn't work.

* TheWorfEffect: Used to show how powerful Trunks was by showing him easily wiping him and his son out and how much foreknowledge he had to get rid of the bastards without giving them a chance to do anything.

* UnskilledButStrong: He has barely any technique of his own but for a little while there was just as strong as Vegeta. Unfortunately for him, Vegeta's battles on Earth allowed him to leave Cui in the dust.

* BaldOfEvil: He's much more sadistic than Zarbon and unlike him lacks hair.

* WouldHitAGirl: He's far more willing to kill Bulma for misleading him than Blueberry and remains unmoved by her fearful whimpers.

* WouldHitAGirl: He threatens Bulma's life several times and was possibly planning on killing her regardless of whether she helped him find the dragon balls or not, though he's not as passionate about it as Raspberry.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: While Guldo is very weak compared to the rest of the force and other elites like Cui, Dodoria, or Zarbon, given that Krillin and Gohan had power levels of 13,000 and 14,000 respectively when they fought him, his own level would have to at least be 10,000, which is far higher than middle or lower-ranked soldiers. His power could rival the strongest Saiyans such as Bardock and King Vegeta.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Surprisingly for such a forgettable character, he kicks off Vegeta's involvement in the Namek Saga, as while Vegeta more than likely would've gone for the dragon balls at some point, it's Cui's informing Vegeta that Frieza had already started his attempt to get the balls that drives him to make a bee line for the planet- drastically changing the outcome of the events in the process.

* AdaptationalBadass: The poses the Ginyu Force does are just that, poses. Video games tend to give these poses actual boosts that actually benefit them,

* WeHaveBecomeComplacent: Subverted, unlike the rest of Frieza's army, the Ginyu Force is implied to be constantly training to get stronger, which is in part due to their status as Frieza's hit squad, they need to be training constantly, which Ginyu himself seemingly enforces. This is reinforced in Otherworld filler, where Goku chooses to power up to defeat them, where before he could have beaten them without even needing to.

* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: He briefly seemed entertained when Gohan voiced his wanting to beat him dead (just after Gohan kicks him away from attempting to murder Dende), but lost all sense humor in the situation once Krillin got in his sneak hit and Frieza's shouting at him to bring the two back. Dodoria lets out a MightyRoar and angrily pursues.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: Couldn't believe that Frieza would destroy Planet Vegeta with their own men still in range, but was too afraid to speak out.
