* AbusiveParent: He created Danielle, who was loyal to and desired affection from him. However, he treated her as a mindless, disposable drone and verbally abuses her whenever she questions his orders. Their "relationship" only worsens when Vlad tries to melt her alive and even before that, [[YoureNotMyFather she renounces all ties with him]].

* BrokenPedestal: Poor Danielle learns the hard way what kind of person her creator is. [[spoiler:Soon Jack and Valerie feel the same way.]] Maddie seemed to have treated him pretty nicely until learning he had always had a thing for her and blames Jack for "stealing" her. When he abruptly asks her to dump Jack and marry him, she's treated him with disdain ever since. Even after she was willing to let bygones be bygones in "Reign Storm" after he saves Danny, she still didn't have a positive opinion of him.
* CardCarryingVillain: He initially averted this - for the first two seasons, being called a villain was almost a BerserkButton for him - but after VillainDecay began to set in he started acting more like a conventional card-carrying baddie.

[[spoiler:In the final episode, he intentionally inputs the wrong coordinates for a rocket that would have destroyed the Disasteroid so that he can make Jack look bad to the entire world. He then uses this to blackmail the world into making him ruler of the Earth in exchange for saving the world. When he reveals his powers to the world and attempts to make the Disasteroid intangible, he discovers too late that it's made of a material that's hazardous to him and he used up the only weapon they had that could've destroyed it in because he couldn't help but spite Jack, meaning that the Earth is still doomed and even if it weren’t, he couldn’t return or he’d be hunted for blackmailing the world. He then asks Jack for help, but since he had just revealed to Jack how much he hates him and that he planned to steal Maddie from him, Jack abandons him and flies back to Earth without him.]]

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Constantly, a lot of his defeats are usually because of some oversight that he doesn't catch in time due to his ego. [[spoiler: This eventually comes to a head in "Phantom Planet" where he finds a meteorite coming toward the Earth and offers to ghost it harmlessly through the planet in exchange for becoming the ruler of the Earth, revealing his alter ego in the process. He even has Jack take him to it as a bit of personal embarrassment. Jack tries to sway him into giving up on his conquest as he still considers him his friend. But Vlad coldly rejects his offer. However, when he can't phase the meteor since it's made of a substance that negates ghost powers, he realizes he can't uphold his end of the bargain and since he revealed his villainous nature, he'll be branded a criminal on Earth. He quickly turns to Jack for help, but Jack refuses and leaves him stranded in space.]]

* RiddleForTheAges: Why did Danny’s ghost half immediately rip out Vlad’s ghost half and overshadowed him???

* BadassDecay: Skulker (Ghost Zone's Greatest Hunter) is able to take down nearly any ghostly beast—big or small—without any fear. He hunts for sport and Danny Phantom is his only real challenge; otherwise, he's competent. Then by the last season, in one episode, it's spurred away: his motivation to hunt Danny is just to impress his one-time girlfriend, and despite handling a giant ghost monster in the same episode, is unable to fight back against a regular teeny bird! A later episode had him running away from mutant unicorns instead of combating.

* UnholyMatrimony: He's dating Ember. Danny doesn't find out who his girlfriend is, but expresses shock that Skulker has a girlfriend. Ember eventually dumps Skulker for being a lousy boyfriend.

In the main timeline, Ember is a villain in her debut, and a plot device in her other two major episodes (made to date Skulker, a loser below her pay grade), Butch Hartman claims that she is in love with Danny Fenton/Phantom, a guy who will never love her back.

* SuperpowerLottery: Kitty can make men disappear with a kiss, and if she doesn’t bring them back within 12 hours, they stay gone. Kitty could defeat Vlad Plasmius, Dark Phantom, Danny Phantom and even the Ghost King if she wanted.

* InhumanableAlienRights: It IS perfectly within human jurisdiction for ghost hunters to experiment on and destroy ghosts without trial. The Guys in White never ever questions whether they should be pursuing the destruction of fully sentient beings.

* DesignatedLoveInterest: There is nothing even remotely attractive or appealing about Skulker, nonetheless Butch Hartman introduced him as Ember’s boyfriend, so that Ember could be Kitty’s plot device for a single episode, and so that Danny who isn’t in Amity Park still has something to do. Danny even lampshades this.

* DesignatedLoveInterest: Ember [=McLain=] is turned into Skulker’s girlfriend so she can be Kitty’s plot device for one episode. Butch Hartman claims that [[HopelessSuitor Ember is in love with Danny]]. Skulker is a loser, a snot-in-tin-can pretending to be great. Danny has never been kind to Ember or helped her out in anyway, and will never return her love. Ember has no reason to be in love with either Danny or Skulker. Especially NOT Skulker!!!
