[[folder:James Arthur Abbott (Jim)]]

A cyber doctor at [=GeneCom=] Industries, originally from Prospero, who recruits the MC to assassinate Jakob Propriev.
----
* AbusiveParents: He hints at this, mentioning that he “didn’t have a very nice childhood”. Later, he mentions that his parents beat him when he showed them the heart rate monitor he built.
* AwfulWeddedLife: Possibly one-sided: [[spoiler:“I hated my wife.” Apparently, he tested cybernetics on her, and eventually [[KickTheDog left her in the underground of Prospero to die]]]].
* AxCrazy: Jim is a little unhinged, to say the least; he makes impulsive decisions and can be dangerously violent.
* BatmanGambit: Some time after [[spoiler:implanting the key in the MC’s head]], Jim flips a switch that causes them to have bad headaches in the hope that they will go to him to get their E-brain looked at, since they have illegal mods; he also does this in the hopes that the MC will feel gratitude to him for helping them, allowing him to welcome them into the fold, so to speak, without it coming straight out of nowhere. He’s right on both counts.
* BerserkButton: Mentioning his late wife is a good way to make the normally chilled-out Jim angry. [[spoiler:Subverted in that it turns out to be an act.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: He has a sniper shoot Jakob Propriev to rescue the MC, and sends in a man with a helicopter to get them away from the Group of Nine.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: A scheming [[TheSociopath sociopath]] underneath a friendly exterior.
* BloodKnight: He admits to finding a shootout in the middle of a bar fun, to the point of letting it continue instead of immediately setting off the C4 he had already had planted there.
* BondOneLiner: “And stay down.”
* ChaoticEvil: Confirmed by WordOfGod.
* TheChessmaster: He manipulates events so that [[apoiler:the Naturalists invade Prospero, providing a distraction so that he can gain access to the Kojima|Acetron signal tower and broadcast the Belial virus]].
* ChildProdigy: He built his first cybernetic component, a heart rate monitor, at the age of nine.
* CoolMask: A creepy-cool plague doctor-inspired mask.
* TheCracker: Being a cyber doctor, he’s skilled with computers and hacking, to the point of being able to create a physical decryption key for the Kojima|Acetron broadcast signal.
* {{Cyborg}}: He has a few mods; in fact, he first installed one himself at the age of nine.
* DeadpanSnarker: He can be very sarcastic when he wants to be.
* ElectronicTelepathy: He’s able to communicate with the MC using their E-brain’s signal.
* FalseFriend: He acts like the MC’s best friend, even calling them as such during their infiltration of Prospero, while all the time [[spoiler:he’s manipulating them into helping him gain access to the Kojima|Acetron tower]].
* FauxAffablyEvil: Jim is genuinely friendly with the MC, delivering advice and deadpan snark as required — right up until [[spoiler:he doesn’t need them any more, at which point he turns on them and tries to kill them]].
* GadgeteerGenius: He built his own cybernetic parts at a young age.
* ItAmusedMe: His reasoning for [[spoiler:creating and spreading the Belial virus]]: just to prove to the world that he can.
* ItHasBeenAnHonor: Says this to the MC before they head in to meet Graveyard Echo. [[spoiler:Considering that he almost immediately betrays them afterwards, it’s very much false.]]
* KnifeNut: He likes collecting sharp things.
* LaughingMad: He indulges in this a few times, notably after blowing up a club.
* MadDoctor: He’s a cyber doctor, and he’s seriously unhinged.
** DeadlyDoctor: He’s also pretty skilled with a gun.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: He’s not particularly bothered about being shot in the side.
* MightyGlacier: He’s good with a gun, but isn’t as fast as the MC.
* NothingPersonal: For once, he’s telling the truth; [[spoiler:the MC]] is simply a victim of circumstance rather than a deliberate target.
* OrderVersusChaos: Jim represents Chaos; his intentions were to dissolve Propriev’s assets and destroy any semblance of his organisation.
* PlagueDoctor: His nickname during the war; ironically, he helped to design the cyber plague rather than cure it. He even has a mask modelled after that of historical plague doctors.
* {{Revenge}}: His entire motivation for what he does: getting revenge on the Group of Nine for not giving him the credit he feels he deserved.
* TheSmartGuy: He’s not as good a fighter as Cain, nor as fast and agile as the MC, but he’s the smartest of the three. Word of God is that he’s the smartest person in Neo-Detroit, and could be more powerful than Propriev if not for his unstable nature.
* TheSociopath: He has no qualms about murdering people, makes impulsive decisions, has an addictive personality, doesn’t seem to feel remorse or guilt, and isn’t too bothered about [[spoiler:Cain’s apparent death]]. [[EvenEvilHasStandards Interestingly, though, he’s the one who argues for rescuing civilians when the Naturalists attack]], while Cain decides to get out of the city.
* SpiritAdvisor: After [[spoiler:his death]], he apparently takes up residence in the MC’s head, speaking to them while they’re unconscious from [[spoiler:Belial’s influence]] — although, given his nature, and despite [[spoiler:his insistence that he’s a “nice guy now”]], the term “advisor” might be a bit optimistic.
* TakeOverTheWorld: [[spoiler:The Belial virus]] is designed to influence those infected to do whatever Jim wants them to.
* ThirdPersonPerson: He often refers to himself in the third person.
* UndyingLoyalty: For all of his faults, WordOfGod confirms that Jim is loyal to those he considers friends.
* VoiceWithAnInternetConnection: He’s the MC’s mission control, using their E-brain to see through their eyes and give them advice.
* WeaponOfChoice: Jim carries a shotgun.
* WouldHitAGirl: Depending on the genders of the MC and the police chief, he’s not above torturing and killing women. He also orders the murder of Octavia, who, despite being an android, is feminine in appearance and voice and (presumably) identifies as female.

[[folder:Cain Edelsbacher Strauss]]

A former soldier, Jim’s partner in crime, and the muscle of the rebellion against Propriev.
----
*ArtificialLimbs: He has a mechanical hand, replacing the one he lost in the war.
*AxCrazy: Not quite as nuts as Jim, but still violent and kind of unstable.
*BigDamnHeroes: He shoots one of the Silent Stars to save the MC’s life.
*TheBigGuy: He’s the better fighter of he and Jim, and tougher than the MC.
*{{Cyborg}}: He has a few electronic parts, including a mechanical hand, a lung modulator, and a cybernetic eye.
*EnemyMine: Cain suggests this to [[spoiler:the MC when they meet again in Prospero]]: they both want to get out of the city alive, so why not help each other? Of course, Cain is pointing a gun at them at the time...
*EyeScream: Cain’s eye was damaged by shrapnel, leading to it being replaced with an implant.
*FalseFriend: He acts like the MC’s friend, but [[spoiler:ultimately tries to kill them when he and Jim have no more need for them]].
*TheGunslinger: He tends towards guns as his weapon of choice.
*MadeOfIron: Cain is [[spoiler:stabbed in the lung, and still manages to make it out of the signal tower and to the MC while avoiding the Silent Stars]].
*MightyGlacier: He may be slower than the MC, but he can take hits like a champ and is skilled in both close-quarters and ranged combat.
*NameOfCain: And, like his namesake, he’s a killer.
*NeutralEvil: Confirmed by WordOfGod.
*NothingPersonal: His [[spoiler:attempted killing of the MC]] is described by him as “just business”, and he claims to be happy to move past that — although if his inner monologue is anything to go by, he might be lying about that.
*NotQuiteDead: He turns out to have survived [[spoiler:the stab wound that John gave him]].
*OrderVersusChaos: Cain, surprisingly, represents Order; according to WordOfGod, he intended to use Propriev’s resources to control the gangs of Neo-Detroit.
*ScrewThisImOuttaHere: As soon as he learns that the Naturalists have a nuke, he decides “fuck it” and heads out to Prospero. Of course, [[spoiler:this was part of the plan all along]].
*VaderBreath: One of his defining characteristics, due to possessing a modulator that increases his lung capacity. It gets worse when [[spoiler:he takes a knife to the lung]].

[[folder:John Tracer]]

A cyber-cop and old friend of Jim, originally from Neo-Detroit before he joined the Los Angeles force.
----
*BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:While it sadly gets him killed, but he stabs Cain to stop him killing the MC.]]
*TheBigGuy: John is the powerhouse of the trio of him, the MC and Christopher.
*ChildSoldiers: He was inducted into the cyber-cop program at the age of ten.
*CodeName: His callsign is "Legend".
*CowboyCop: In Jim’s words, “he’s the cop that you don’t want to meet in a dark alley”; indeed, he has no problem with kidnapping and torturing the MC in order to find out their plans.
*{{Cyborg}}: John has and E-brain of his own, and, at least, enhanced vision — he can see an ambush from a mile away.
*DeadpanSnarker: He can be very sarcastic when he wants to be.
*DefiantToTheEnd: [[spoiler:His last words are spent cursing out Jim.]]
*FacingTheBulletsOneLiner: [[spoiler:“You’re a punk-ass bitch. Shoot me, you fuckin’ coward!”]]
*FireForgedFriends: With the MC, surprisingly enough; he ends up caring about them enough to head to the Kojima|Acetron tower when Omar tells him they’re there, and [[spoiler:ultimately sacrifice himself for them]]. He also seems to develop this with Christopher; indeed, he cares about Christopher enough to protect him from Jim’s sniper.
*GoodIsNotNice: John is the closest thing the series has to a good guy, but he’s also kind of a jerk.
*GoodIsNotSoft: And he’s perfectly willing to kill if he has to.
*GunNut: He has an entire armoury in his house.
*HeroicSacrifice: In Prospero, he stays behind to protect the injured Christopher but tells the MC to run. Later, he [[spoiler:stabs Cain to save the MC, but is fatally shot by Jim in return]].
*JackBauerInterrogationTechnique: He tortures the MC for three days to get information out of them.
*JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He’s a jerk, sure, but he chooses to help the MC in Los Angeles and in Prospero, and he’s very fiercely against corruption.
*[[spoiler:KilledMidSentence]]: “Motherfucker, I swear—”.
*LawfulGood: According to WordOfGod.
*MadeOfIron: In Los Angeles, John is shot in the chest with a 50-calibre round that punches straight through his armour. Not only does he survive, he recovers well enough that he can survive the Naturalists’ attack on Prosero.
*MightyGlacier: His power armour gives him a good deal of protection, and he’s skilled with a gun, but he isn’t particularly fast.
*PoweredArmour: He wears a set of it.
*SirSwearsALot: Particularly when dealing with Christopher or Jim.
*SpannerInTheWorks: The fact that he caught the MC before they could assassinate him, and their subsequent developing friendship, throws a wrench into [[spoiler:Jim’s plans, eventually leading to the death of Jim and the survival of the MC]].
*SpiritAdvisor: He seems to become one to the MC [[spoiler:after his death]], although whether they are actually hearing his voice or are just going nuts is ambiguous.
*StreetSmart: Jim may believe him to be stupid, but John is very good at “reading” the cities he works in. Notably, upon first arriving there several years before, he immediately realised that something was very wrong underneath Prospero, where the Graveyard Echo resides.

[[folder:Jakob Propriev]]

Computer genius, CEO and founder of [=GeneCom=] Incorporated, and leader of a worldwide criminal syndicate.
----
*BatmanGambit: He expected someone to take Octavia from his mansion upon his death, so he apparently had a surveillance system installed in her to send footage to the authorities. The surveillance system may or may not not actually exist, but his installation of the software to [[spoiler:neutralise the Kojima|Acetron signal’s decryption key]] also counts for the same reason — he expected the MC to attempt to kill him and take Octavia.
*BodyDouble: Contrary to what is reported in the media, he sent his decoy to meet with Cameron and the MC. The status of the decoy is currently unknown.
**RobotMe: Said decoy is an android.
*CorruptCorporateExecutive: Not only is he in charge of a criminal syndicate, he apparently [[spoiler:plays along with Jim to spread the Belial virus]] — although he [[HeelRealization bails at the last minute]].
*DeathSeeker: According to both Jim and Omar, he lost the will to live after the death of his wife and [[spoiler:Jim’s forceful takeover of both Project Octavia and Project Belial]].
*EvenEvilHasStandards: Although he plays along with [[spoiler:Jim’s plan]] initially, he bails out at the last minute, secretly installing a piece of software in Octavia that would [[spoiler:neutralise the decryption key implanted in the MC’s head]].
*GadgeteerGenius: He created the E-brain.
*JerkassWoobie: Sure, he’s a criminal and not a particularly nice person, but still, poor Jakob. WordOfGod says that “[he] was a victim of far more cunning people”.
*KilledMidSentence: “I want this entire building cleared imme—”. Until he’s revealed to [[NotQuiteDead still be alive]], but that doesn’t last long.
*KilledOffForReal: Omar confirms that he is indeed dead, and he has only appeared since in a recording made some time before his death.
*TheLostLenore: His wife, Octavia, died some time ago; Jakob misses her greatly, to the point that [[spoiler:Jim taking control of Project Octavia]] sends him spiralling into suicidal depression.
*MadScientist: Not exactly mad, but not very stable either, and a criminal nonetheless.
*MultipleGunshotDeath: Jim fires several rounds into an already dying Propriev.
*MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Stated almost word-for-word, presumably in reference to [[spoiler:Project Belial]]: “What have we done?”
*ProperlyParanoid: Given how much money he was moving through illegal means, he was probably right to suspect that the authorities were after him. And, of course, he was right to be suspicious of Jim and Cain.
*TalkingInYourDreams: According to Jim, Propriev claimed to have dreams about demons, which could indicate that [[spoiler:Belial]] was communicating with him in his sleep.
*TrueNeutral: Confirmed by WordOfGod.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Octavia]]

An artificially intelligent android created by Jakob Propriev and adopted by the MC after his death.
----
*ArtificialBrilliance: Octavia is so well-programmed that she may as well be human.
*ArtificialHuman
*BigBrotherIsWatching: Octavia possesses a surveillance system that Propriev implanted in her when he grew suspicious of Cain and Jim — at least, [[spoiler:that’s the reason that Cain and Jim give to the MC for wanting her dead. While the surveillance system is likely real, the real reason is that Propriev also implanted her with software that would neutralise the decryption key in the MC’s head]].
*DoAndroidsDream: Octavia considers herself a person, to the point where she suffers from nightmares and begs the MC not to kill her.
*DreamingOfThingsToCome: She somehow dreams of the MC killing her.
*KilledOffForReal: While her OS derivative, Octavia Junior, is still operational, Octavia herself is gone.
*NeutralGood: Confirmed by WordOfGod.
*ReplacementGoldfish: She was created to be one for Propriev’s late wife before her code was used to create a widely-used artificially intelligent operating system.
*SacrificialLion: Her death greatly affects the MC for a long time afterwards.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Omar abd Jabbar]]

A sniper from Saudi Arabia, former employee of Jakob Propriev, and the leader of the Clockmakers.
----
*TheAtoner: While he’s still a sniper, Omar had a change of heart after killing so many people, prompting him to form the Clockmakers.
*BewareTheNiceOnes: As nice a guy as Omar is, he’s still a sniper, and will not hesitate to put a bullet in you if he has to.
*BigDamnHeroes: When [[spoiler:Jim is about to shoot the MC and]] it seems there’s no way out, Omar snipes [[spoiler:Jim from afar and directs the MC out of the tower]]. Before that, he snipes various people to protect John.
*{{Cyborg}}: He has a cybernetic eye.
*DeadpanSnarker: He can indulge in sarcasm when he wants to.
*DeclarationOfProtection: To the MC. “I promise you this until the end of my days: we will be allies, and I will protect you.”
*FriendlySniper: Omar is a really nice guy when he’s not putting bullets into people from afar.
*FullNameBasis: He consistently addresses John Tracer by his full name.
*GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: At one point, he ends up whacking a screaming Christopher to make him shut up.
*GoodIsNotSoft: Omar is undisputedly a good guy. That doesn’t mean he’s harmless; far from it.
*HitmanWithAHeart: Omar, in his own words, “works on the side that is morally correct”, which is why he tries to convince the MC to spare Octavia’s life. Even after the MC continues to assist Jim and Cain, Omar goes out of his way to save their life when [[spoiler:Jim attempts to kill them, even though Jim has already succeeded in broadcasting the Belial virus]]. When they meet up afterwards, he is very gentle with them, comforting them when they break down and carrying them when they fall unconscious from [[spoiler:Belial’s]] influence. He even allows the completely bonkers Christopher to come along with them as they escape Prospero.
*LawfulNeutral: According to WordOfGod.
*OnlySaneMan: Out of him, the MC and Christopher, he’s the most sane.
*RedBaron: He is also known as “the Wind”.
*ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: His methods of sniping involve an anti-materiel rifle shooting 50-calibre rounds and a goddamn RPG.
*YouAreNotAlone: He says this word for word to the MC in the aftermath of [[spoiler:Jim’s betrayal]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Christopher Singh Jayarahman]]

Former Minister of Health in the UK government, and a member of the Group of Nine, specialising in robotics, who designed the floating city of Prospero.
----
*AffectionateNickname: Omar calls him “bird man”; John calls him "Chris".
*DeadpanSnarker: [[https://instaud.io/t6q A deleted scene]] shows that even Christopher can be snarky on occasion.
*DepravedBisexual/[[DepravedHomosexual Homosexual]]: Depending on the MC’s gender; he flirts with the MC and claims to have fallen in love with John Tracer, and is pretty much nuts.
*EvilBrit: Until his FaceHeelTurn, anyway.
*FaceHeelTurn: Possibly, after he joins Omar and the MC.
*GadgeteerGenius: He’s apparently so skilled with robotics that the Group of Nine recruited him straight out of college.
*LaughingMad: Quite often, but particularly upon learning of [[spoiler:John Tracer’s death]].
*MadDoctor: Like Jim, he’s a cyber doctor. He’s also completely insane; even more so than Jim, according to WordOfGod.
*NonActionGuy: Unlike Omar and the MC, he can’t fight.
*PersonaNonGrata: According to him, he can’t go back to the UK due to some unauthorised, illegal and unethical experiments he conducted.
*PlagueDoctor: He worked on the cyber plague along with Jim, so he had this nickname too.
*PsychopathicManchild: Christopher can be quite childish at times.
*YouShouldHaveDiedInstead: Going by his tone of voice at one point, it’s possible that he feels that the MC should have died [[spoiler:instead of John]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Octavia Junior]]

Kojima|Acetron’s publicly available artificially intelligent operating system, primarily seen in use in Prospero’s substations.
----
*ArtificialBrilliance: Octavia Junior is just as sophisticated as her android counterpart, possessing a sense of humour and occasionally injecting her own comments into conversations.
*BenevolentAI: She’s friendly, helpful, occasionally apologetic, and downright adorable.
*CuteMachines: She has a very cute voice, an endearing personality, and even a sense of humour.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:President Patrick Henry Neumann]]

The President of the United Empire of America.
----
*EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: He might be a corrupt bastard, but he loves Sylvia and their children.
*LawfulEvil: According to WordOfGod.
*PresidentEvil: He’s planning to completely take over the United Empire.
*PresidentForLife: This is part of what he's planning.
*WouldNotShootACivilian: [[AvertedTrope Averted]]: he orders the bombing of Prospero knowing that hundreds of innocent people will die.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Cameron Foburn]]

A member of the Neo-Detroit cyber police and old friend of the MC. Cameron was sent to investigate Jakob Propriev alongside the MC. He is presumed to have been picked up and recruited by the Clockmakers after the investigation went wrong.
----
*AffectionateNickname: “Cam”.
*CodeName: His callsign is "Mason".
*NeutralGood: According to WordOfGod.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Graveyard Echo #1 (Thomas)]]

A mysterious being working with the Naturalists, who nurses a hatred of cybernetics. After his death, it is revealed that he was originally a twelve-year-old boy called Thomas, who was experimented upon in the cisterns underneath Prospero by the United Empire and Kojima|Acetron.
----
*BodyHorror: Whatever was done to him to turn him into the Graveyard Echo, it took a nasty toll on his body.
*BreakingTheFourthWall: He refers to someone watching him and the MC across space and time.
*ChaoticNeutral: According to WordOfGod.
*CyberneticsEatYourSoul: He strongly believes in this, possibly due to what he went through to become the first Graveyard Echo.
*ICannotSelfTerminate: After learning that [[spoiler:Belial is (possibly) an AI created by Jim]], he decides that he has no purpose any more, and begs Jim to kill him. Jim obliges.
*MeaningfulRename: He took the name “Graveyard Echo” during his time in the labs under Prospero, although Abigail still calls him Thomas.
*MindRape: His method of subduing the MC is to leave them underground with the voices of the dead for an indeterminate length of time.
*PsychicPowers: As Thomas, he is noted to have superior control over his own mental state and that of others, and “remarkable control over matter”. He is also noted to have disturbing visions, and Abigail hints that he can see the future like she can.
**AstralProjection: He briefly mentions having this ability, fading in and out of consciousness on a regular basis.
**MindOverMatter: He has the ability to control matter.
**{{Telepathy}}: WordOfGod states that he is telepathic.
*SelfHarm: Thomas apparently hurt himself as a coping mechanism.
*SpiritAdvisor: After his death, he and Abigail appear in the MC’s head to offer advice.
*WasOnceAMan: He was originally a boy named Thomas.
*WellIntentionedExtremist: He cannot stand the fact that there is suffering in the world, and believes that this suffering is caused by cybernetics; hence, he fights with the Naturalists.
*WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Whatever was done to him to make him become the first Graveyard Echo, it left him self-harming at the very least. No wonder the poor kid turned on the world.
*XRayVision: He apparently cannot see human skin, with only the flesh and bones of a person being visible to him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Graveyard Echo #2 (Abigail)]]

The second Graveyard Echo, originally a girl called Abigail, who was cloned from Thomas. She was euthanised by the scientists working underneath Prospero at the age of fourteen.
----
*BodyHorror: Abigail suffered from extensive tissue necrosis before her body regenerated itself.
*DreamingOfThingsToCome: Although it’s unknown whether she had this ability initially or developed it after her death, Abigail mentions seeing the MC’s future in her dreams.
*ForgetsToEat: More correctly, refuses to eat; Abigail refused to eat or drink in captivity.
*HealingFactor: Apparently.
*ImmuneToDrugs: Abigail was immune to the effects of sedatives.
*MeaningfulRename: Like Thomas, she gave herself the name “Graveyard Echo”.
*OppositeSexClone: A female genetic clone of Thomas.
*PosthumousCharacter: Unlike her counterpart, Abigail is only heard of/from years after her death.
*PsychicPowers: Like Thomas, she is noted to have had disturbing visions, and can apparently see the future in her dreams.
**MindControl: According to WordOfGod, she had the ability to control minds.
**MindOverMatter: She has control over matter.
**NighInvulnerability: Confirmed by WordOfGod.
*TheSleepless: Abigail suffered from insomnia; sadly, sedatives didn’t work on her.
*SpiritAdvisor: After the events at the Kojima|Acetron signal tower, she and Thomas drop into the MC’s head to offer some advice.
*TouchOfDeath: Twelve personnel instantly died from catastrophic organ failure and tissue necrosis while trying to physically restrain her.
*WasOnceAMan: She was originally a girl named Abigail.
*WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Poor Abigail. Like Thomas, it’s little wonder she turned on the world of technology.

[[folder:Belial]]

A powerful supernatural being who speaks to the MC while they are unconscious in Los Angeles. Originally believed to be an AI [[spoiler:created by Jim]], he may or may not actually be {{Satan}} himself.
----
*AIIsACrapshoot: Well, it would be if he actually were an AI.
*BigBad
*DemonicPossession: He speaks of possessing [[spoiler:the MC’s body]] to use them as his avatar; it’s unknown whether he managed it at that time.
*IHaveManyNames: Belial, Satan, Lucifer, Shaytaan ir-rajeem, the Demiurge; apparently his real name is ETH-KAN-DA.
*MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: [[spoiler:Jim believes him to be the product of Project Belial]], but Omar believes that he is in fact a supernatural entity.
*OrderVersusChaos: Belial refers to himself as the God of Chaos; this makes some sense, considering that [[spoiler:Jim, symbolically related to chaos, created the Belial virus]].
*TermsOfEndangerment: He calls the MC “little lamb”.
*WillNotTellALie: According to the first Graveyard Echo; whether or not this is actually true is unknown.

[[folder:The MC]]

The protagonist of the series; a young cyber cop-turned-mercenary from Neo-Detroit who is hired by Jakob Propriev as a “cleanup agent” and is drawn into the machinations of Jim and Cain.
----
* AmbiguousGender: Zig-zagged. The MC is referred to with male pronouns early on, due to EarlyInstallmentWeirdness. Later on, they are consistently referred to with gender-neutral pronouns, although Jim continues to call them “man”.
* TheChosenOne: While Belial claims the MC as his own, he states that the God of Order has a purpose for them; Abigail also hints at this, given that she cannot see their future.
* ClaimedByTheSupernatural: Belial claims them as his champion and avatar.
* TheCracker: While they are more of a fighter than a technician, they have the knowledge to hack computer systems, which proves useful after Jim’s betrayal.
* {{Cyborg}}: They have several electronic parts, including targeting modules and modifications to their legs.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Among the few things we know about them are that their parents are both dead and they were apparently poor growing up.
* DeadPersonConversation: The MC begins hearing the voices of John Tracer and Jim in their head after their deaths. The jury’s still out on whether something supernatural’s going on, or if they’re just going crazy after everything that’s happened.
* DemonicPossession: Possibly. Belial talks about using them as his “vessel”; whether he actually managed it is up in the air, but whatever happens causes them to fall unconscious.
* {{Determinator}}: Even after being tortured, chased and betrayed, they never give up.
* EtTuBrute: The normally cool and stoic MC is very upset by Jim and Cain’s betrayal, and briefly breaks down in the aftermath.
* FeaturelessProtagonist
* {{Fingore}}: They lose one of their little fingers, courtesy of John Tracer.
* FireForgedFriends: With John Tracer, oddly enough, given that they were sent to assassinate him and he tortured them in return.
* FragileSpeedster: Their leg implants give them a top running speed of at least thirty-five miles per hour, and they have the reflexes to match, but they wear little in the way of armour.
* TheGunslinger: Their primary weapons are guns.
* HearingVoices: And how. As well as the one-way [[DeadPersonConversation Dead Person Conversations]] going on in their e-brain, they may be hearing voices in their head while at the Masjid Al-Wahab, and Belial speaks to them while they are unconscious in Los Angeles.
* HitmanWithAHeart: Stoic and cold they may be, but the MC grows attached to Octavia, chooses not to kill John Tracer, and allows Christopher to escape Prospero with them and Omar. John describes them as “a good person with good intentions”, and even the Graveyard Echo believes them to be merely a victim of circumstance rather than a “foul or wicked person”.
* ManySpiritsInsideOfOne: Somehow, they end up with the consciousnesses of John, Jim, and two of the Graveyard Echoes in their head.
* MultipleIdentityIDs: They have at least two different ID cards under different names.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: After killing Octavia, they apparently have this reaction.
* NervesOfSteel: The MC is tortured by Propriev’s men for a day and by John Tracer for three days; on neither occasion do they give anything away.
* NeuralImplanting: The MC is implanted with the Belial virus by Jim, which leads to Belial possibly making himself at home in their body.
* NotSoStoic: The MC stays cool while being tortured, shot at, and having their goddamn apartment blown up, to the point of appearing emotionless — until the confrontation at the Kojima|Acetron skyscraper. In Jim’s words, they don’t take it well, ultimately breaking down in tears in the aftermath.
* ParentalAbandonment: Their mother [[DeathByChildbirth died giving birth to them]], and their father died when they were a teenager. [[PreciousPhoto They still carry a picture of their parents in their wallet]].
* PragmaticHero: Stoic, cold and willing to kill, the things that stop them sliding into UnscrupulousHero territory are their strong code of honour and their genuine loyalty to their friends.
* PrivateMilitaryContractor: After their disappearance from the investigation into Propriev.
* PsychicPowers: Very possibly, if the first Graveyard Echo is to be believed. If true, this might explain why they hear John and Jim’s voices in their heads, why they hear the ghosts in the underground tunnels, and why Belial is able to speak to them.
* TheQuietOne: John Tracer observes that they don’t talk much, preferring to let their actions speak for them.
* SanitySlippage: They seem to be starting to lose it since Jim’s betrayal, hearing the voices of Jim and John in their head.
* ScrewTheMoneyIHaveRules: Propriev observes that they don’t go along with Cain and Jim for the money, but because of their own moral code.
* SmugSmiler: According to John Tracer, much to his irritation.
* StreetSamurai: A mercenary and assassin with some skill in hacking.
* TalkingInYourDreams: Belial, two of the Graveyard Echoes, Jim and John all speak to the MC while they are asleep or unconscious.
* TheyWouldCutYouUp: Both John Tracer and Jim are concerned that the Group of Nine would dissect the MC’s E-brain for the modifications they have, although Christopher denies it.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: The surgery to implant the decryption key in their head causes them to lose their memory of their investigation into Jakob Propriev.
* UndyingLoyalty: They are unwaveringly loyal to those they consider friends, particularly after having to kill Octavia; Jim uses this against them.
* UnwittingPawn: A job investigating Jakob Propriev leads to them being unknowingly implanted with a decryption key in a plot to spread a virus across the world.
* VagueAge: All we know for sure is that they’re old enough to have worked for the cyber police, but are young enough for John Tracer (who is thirty-five years of age) to call them “child”, for them to still be carrying their school ID in their wallet, and for Jim (twenty-nine years of age) to call them “kid”.
* WeaponOfChoice: The MC owns three different guns at different points: an M1911; a tactical AK-47 with computerised scope, given to them by John Tracer; and a high-tech assassin pistol they got in Prospero.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: After being trapped in the cistern under Prospero by the Graveyard Echo, they are understandably unsettled at the prospect of going underground again.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: They end up on the receiving end once Jim broadcasts the Belial virus, being the physical decryption key for the broadcast signal.
