The self-styled "world's greatest jewel thief", arrogant André [=LeBlanc=] made the international most wanted list. André [=LeBlanc=] often clashed with the Russian super-hero Leonid Kovar (who was also known as Starfire and later by the name of Red Star). André [=LeBlanc=] delighted in evading capture by the young hero. Interpol requested that the Teen Titans team up with Kovar to safeguard the Crown Jewels of Sweden from André [=LeBlanc=]. So confident in his abilities, the bragging thief announced his crimes before they were committed. Mutual antagonism spoiled the joint efforts of the American and Soviet champions, until Kovar rescued the Titans from [=LeBlanc=]'s deathtraps. Kid Flash then returned the favor by saving Kovar from death on the subway tracks, while Robin defeated [=LeBlanc=] in hand-to-hand combat.

A mysterious creature, no one knows who or what the Antithesis really is or where he comes from. He is considered the first official villain of the Teen Titans, as he and his "sidekick", Mister Twister, were the first villains that they fought as an official group when the Antithesis was able to mindcontrol the mentors of the original Teen Titans and force them to commit crimes. Antithesis was absorbing their negative emotions, with which he could have enough energy to travel to our dimension. The nascent Titans were forced them to battle their mentors in order to prevent them from committing crimes. Once defeated, the Antithesis swore vengeance upon the Teen Titans, especially Robin, their leader. Defeated, the Antithesis was imprisoned in Limbo, but has returned several times seeking revenge.

Starfire's older sister, Komand'r is bitter, sadistic, and out for her younger sibling's blood. Born the day that The Citadel attacked Tamaran, and later crippled by a childhood illness that left her unable to fly, Komand'r was abhorred by the people of Tamaran, and passed over in favour of Koriand'r. She eventually betrayed her planet to The Citadel, after which she and her sister were both captured by the Psions and granted their starbolt powers. Starfire became a heroine, while Blackfire turned to supervillainy, trying to conquer Tamaran and eliminate her sister.

* AdaptationalHeroism: Blackfire is turned into a AntiHero of sorts in the New 52 reboot. Even her animated incarnation, while still very much a villain, omits the cruel acts committed by her comic book counterpart.

* DrivenByEnvy: Envy of Starfire is her driving motivation. It start when all of her privileges, honors, and celebration were later given to her younger sister.

** Strangely enough, she's also one to Donna Troy; both are skilled warriors who come from different societies and who live in the shadow of their more well-known, well-respected siblings. However, Donna truly loves [[Franchise/WonderWoman her sister]], while Blackfire has nothing but searing hatred toward Starfire.
* EvilCripple: Subverted; It's not visible to us at first, but Blackfire's inability to fly was a serious handicap in Tamaranean society. The R.E.B.E.L.S Vol. 2 rolled around and bestowed her with the ability to fly.
* EvilRedhead: As Starfire's evil sister, this is to be expected.
* {{The Evil Prince}}ss: She was first in line to inherit the position as Queen, but the fact that she was born without the superpowers that are common on her planet make her seem weak, so her younger sister Starfire becomes first in line. This does not sit well with Blackfire, who then sells her into slavery to get rid of her.
* {{Expy}}: To Franchise/XMen's villain Deathbird, who precedes Blackfire's creation by three years, and just like her is also an evil alien princess driven by hatred for her younger, more heroic sister.
* FreudianExcuse: As the first princess born in centuries, her birth should have been a joyous event. Then, on the day she was born, the Citadel annihilated a city on Tamaran and slaughtered three thousands people ''in her name'', linking her inextricably to the tragedy, ''and'' she was robbed of the ability to fly by a childhood illness. Because of this, she was hated by everyone, denied her birthright and treated as a villain [[ThenLetMeBeEvil until she decided to be one]].
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: With her sister Starfire.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Actually subverted. Her better understanding of the darker sides of politics and hard-line attitude make her not only a better queen than Myand'r, but a more popular one as well.
* HandBlast: As her sister Starfire, it is her main attack.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: Started out as a villain, but underwent an epiphany in later ''New Teen Titans'' issues, realizing that she was wrong for her jealousy against her sister and vowing to rule Tamaran fairly. However, she'd go back to being a villain by the time of the ''Rann/Thanagar War'' miniseries (after having been believed dead and not having appeared for many years) and murdered Hawkwoman. By the time of R.E.B.E.L.S, she slid into being more of an AntiVillain. In the ''New 52'' continuity, she seems to have the alignment of the AntiHero.
* HumanAliens: Tamaranians are indistinguishable from humans, save the solid green eyes and spray-tan color skin.
* ItsPersonal: Once Komand'r takes the throne in ''NTT'', it becomes apparent she's actually a substantially better leader than her weak-willed father, Myand'r. Indeed, her only real problem is her [[RevengeBeforeReason absolutely vicious grudge]] against her immediate family, which causes her to try and murder or otherwise abuse them even after her throne is secure.
* PowerOfTheSun: Blackfire's alien physiology constantly absorbs ultraviolet radiation and converts it to energy.
* TheResenter: Towards Starfire, and most other Tamaranians for that matter.
* SensibleHeroesSkimpyVillains: {{Inverted}} with her sister: Blackfire wears a full bodysuit, while her more heroic sister wears what amounts to a skimpy swimsuit.

* SkillPointReset: After R.E.B.E.L.S., Komand'r not only regained her old power set via [[AnOfferYouCantRefuse negotiating with her mad scientist captors]], but gaining a [[{{Flight}} much coveted bonus]] out of the entire affair.
* StatuesqueStunner: She's 188 cm ([=6'2''=]) tall-and still ''slightly shorter than her sister''.
* StrongerSibling: She couldn't fly to begin with, but her starbolts are actually significantly more powerful than Starfire's.
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: She was treated as a villain by the Tamaraneans for no fault of her own, with her birthright bestowed upon Starfire (who, ironically, was one of the few who ''didn't'' hate her). One day, Blackfire ''snapped'' and became the villain she had been treated as, starting with attempting to murder Starfire.
* UnreliableExpositor: During her successful coup of the Tamaranean throne, Kommand'r blames her family for neglecting her for Koriand'r, while her family insists they loved her but she let her jealousy get the better of her. The truth of the matter is never delved into, but it is a known fact that Kommand'r was stripped of her birthright and the throne given to Koriand'r instead.

* ReligionOfEvil: He leads a cult who focuses magic through [[BloodMagic bloodletting]]. He revealed that the Cult of Blood was based on the worship of Trigon the Terrible. It was for this reason that the new Bride of Blood was to be Raven.
* RetCon: His origin. Claims to be the son of the original Brother Blood, although when that villain was last seen in the ''New Titans'', the only child he had was an infant ''daughter''. Of course, maybe this Sebastian was sired earlier and with another mother...
** Also, for his entire religion. Originally a generic cult, Creator/GeoffJohns retconned them into Trigon-worshipers.
* SelfMadeOrphan: As is tradition for the High Priest of the Church of Blood. While still a teenager, Sebastian stabbed his father to death, after the latter's failed attempt to take over the Slab and abduct a million infants. He dumped Blood's body into the river and assumed the mantle of Brother Blood.

Cheshire is a deadly international terrorist and an enemy of the Teen Titans, often recognized as one of the world's greatest and most ruthless assassins. Her skills include mastery over physical combat, various weaponry, and she is an expert on exotic poisons. In the past she has had multiple romantic relationships and given birth to two children with different fathers, Lian Harper with Arsenal and Thomas Blake, Jr. with Catman. She has been a member of the Ravens, Tartarus, Injustice League, the ComicBook/SecretSix and Titans Villains for Hire. She betrayed the Secret Six to the Society in the opening story arc and has popped up again a number of times since.

She's been thrown out of a helicopter, tortured, shot in the chest, forced to eat Solomon Grundy's cooked flesh, beaten within an inch of her life by Jeannette and then kicked upside the head by Tarantula, left as a bloody heap on the floor by three mercenaries hired to steal her son, [[spoiler: and then told said son was killed when he's really alive and been adopted by a loving couple.]]

* DependingOnTheWriter: Whether or not she cares about Lian. Overall the one consistent element of her characterization is that it's clear her childhood trauma will result in her doing things that go against her love for Lian if it involves her freedom.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: One of her biggest issues is that she does not have the capability of thinking her actions out in the long run.
** She destroyed Qurac just to show the world she wasn't bluffing with her blackmail demands, yet at no point ever stopped to think about what her life would be like once the entire world and just about everyone around her now believes she has to die for her crimes against humanity.
** She decided Lian would be better off if everyone believed she was still dead, so Jade left her amnesiac daughter in some random church in Gotham City. Several years later and Lian's now "Shoes," a homeless orphan who had to learn pickpocketing in order to survive and is now one of Catwoman's kid lackeys.
* DirtyCoward: Any time she gets cornered by Roy Harper or Thomas Blake she's quick to make some mention of the fact that she had their respective children. Also, for all intents and purposes, we've seen that while Jade is quick to dish out some extreme punishment, she's barely able to receive any back without pulling tail. See her encounter with Jeannette.
* DragonLady: Seems to fit several traits being foreign, sexually aggressive, mysterious and has quite the family history.
* EntitledBastard: [[spoiler:She forces Roy to help with her scheme to murder Deathstroke by blaming him for Lian's death and stating he owes her for it. Not only is this frustrating due to it being clear Lian's death was a freak accident that had nothing to do with anything Roy directly or indirectly did, but she's lucky Roy never found out about Jade abandoning Lian in ''Villains United''.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: An inversion of sorts. Deathstroke shot her after she divulged the location of the Six because she sold out her own team.
** Before she nuked Qurac, Jade herself was a straight example of this. She used to avoid CollateralDamage during her assassinations (for instance, she left a witness Bound and Gagged and even assured the man that she had no intention of harming him), and even turned the tables on some racist South Africans who had hired her to kill a black civil rights worker.
* EvilerThanThou: When the only other villain you're listed with under "(Worse) Villains" is '''Junior''', you ''know'' you're a monster. Gail Simone's stated Cheshire is one character whom she never writes with any redeeming qualities and cites her nuclear genocide of Qurac as the reason why.
* EvilIsPetty: Her whole villain history can be summed up as plants to hurt hundreds of people for small things.
* EvilMatriarch: She set out to murder Black Canary because she's taken care of Lian, and the girl comes to see Canary as more of a mother than Cheshire. Of course, whether or not her love for her child is genuine is still up for debate.
** Given how she genuinely didn't seem to care that [[spoiler:Lian was being used as leverage, or that she died]]...
** Hell, she's so bad, even at age 4 Lian is perfectly aware of and ashamed of how horrible her mother is. When Lian's babysitter revealed that her grandparents died in the Qurac explosion, Lian got so angry at her mother she threw Jade's picture at the wall shouting "BAD MOMMY!"
* FatalFlaw: Her warped sense of self-preservation and inability to properly deal with her emotions has led to her being reviled by almost the entire world and cost her the opportunity to have a life with either of her children.
* FemmeFatalons: She poisons her long, sharpened fingernails as her main weapons.
* {{Flanderization}}: After Wolfman introduced her in the eighties, she was a morally grey assassin with flashes of EvenEvilHasStandards here and there and a very good reason to resent Roy, who essentially seduced her under a false identity and then abandoned her, setting up a very involved DatingCatwoman scenario. When Wolfman brought her back in the 90s in the pages of ''Deathstroke'', it was as an EvilerThanThou aspiring nuclear terrorist and [[ComicBook/TheJudasContract Terra-style pure evil lunatic]]. Bizarrely, Roy Harper is ''also'' there for the same arc of ''Deathstroke'', and he doesn't even register as a third wheel.
* {{Foil}}: To Roy Harper. Both lost their parents at an early age and had difficult childhoods, both were taken in by a mentor who raised them to be who they are now. Roy's mentor Green Arrow neglected him and caused him to suffer serious abandonment issues that led to Roy experimenting with drugs. Jade's mentor trained her to be a killer and fundamentally ruined her ability to express her emotions. Roy accepts his failures and tries to learn from them, becoming a better, more multifaceted individual. Jade cannot accept or face the horrible things she's done and tries to shove all her negative emotions and desires into her role as Cheshire, an identity shaped to be a sociopathic defense mechanism, so she's trying and failing to live as one person with two facets.
* FreudianExcuse: She was sold into slavery at a very young age, and was never given a proper outlet to express her emotions since doing so in such a place would've been a death sentence. As an adult she's tried to live as both "Jade" and "Cheshire," where Cheshire's the one who channels her anger and hostility while Jade gets to live peacefully. Her reliance on the Cheshire identity as an emotional crutch has left her incapable of expressing her emotions in a healthy manner, until the build-up of horrific events (nuking Qurac, forsaking Lian's life) left her wanting only to be Cheshire so she wouldn't have to face her guilty conscience.
* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: Deep, deep down, Jade seems to genuinely understand that whatever sort of trauma she went through doesn't justify the horrible things she's done. While in her cell after fighting Roy, Jade looks back on some of the worst acts she's committed and silently regrets knowing it was her own damn fault they happened. Unfortunately, by now it's too painful for her to think otherwise or she might lose what little sanity she has left.
* GoneHorriblyWrong: Her mentor and guardian taught her how to be a killer, and she ended up crafting the Cheshire identity as an outlet for all her negative emotions so they wouldn't affect her private life as Jade. Trouble is, her actions as Cheshire escalated to such a degree she couldn't ignore her guilt while living as Jade and eventually reached a point she'd rather pretend to be a sociopath then admit how much suffering she's caused.
* HatedByAll: At this point there are literally only four, maybe five, people in the entirety of the DCU who actually like Jade: her mentor, Roy, Lian, Tommy, and Catman. Even then, it's a stretch to say how much they actually like Jade at the moment and how much they pity her, while Tommy's a baby and generally too young to know or understand what Jade's done. Meanwhile, the superhero community views her as a dangerous woman who needs to pay for her crimes against humanity, the supervillain community views her as an untrustworthy backstabber willing to sell out her own children just to save herself, and the regular people of the world think she's a genocidal maniac.
* HisOwnWorstEnemy: She's destroyed any possibility of having a life with Roy and Lian and sacrificed every potential connection to other people due to her desperate attempts to prove she's a threat and to avoid being captured.
* IHaveAFamily: She's invoked this a couple of times. A standard defense is to remind Roy Harper that she is the mother of his child, which was useful even after Lian died. In ''Secret Six'', she attempted this on Jeannette while being dangled off a building. Jeannette could ''not'' have cared less.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: Her sociopathic veneer is used to hide a truly miserable woman who doesn't want her life to be what it is now, but feels she cannot change who she is at this point.
* [[IntangibleMan Intangible Woman]]: Post-Flashpoint, she has a cybernetic implant that lets her phase through solid matter.
* ItsAllAboutMe: She has no regard for anyone else unless she can use them.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: She started out as an assassin with a moral code and an understandable vendetta against Roy Harper, but the more desperate she was to prove what she was capable of as a villain led to her committing nuclear holocaust. After that, it's hard to go back to being a simple mercenary no matter how much she'd like to and it's not something ''anyone'' is going to simply forgive her for.
* KarmaHoudini: Averted multiple times, at least when Gail Simone's the author.
* KickTheMoralityPet: Her desperation to escape from Mockingbird's control resulted in her consciously forsaking Lian so long as she could conceive a replacement baby. Unfortunately, Roy nor Lian ever found out so Jade was never forced to atone for this action, [[spoiler:even after Lian died.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: She doesn’t care about anyone’s pain but her own. Some issues she imply she actually ''is'' capable of guilt, but the build up of horrible actions she's perpetrated have led her to use apathy as a defense mechanism rather than let her guilty conscience potentially drive her insane.
* LaserGuidedKarma: See TheChewToy. If Gail Simone's the writer, Cheshire will always get what's coming to her.
* LoveCannotOvercome: Whatever feelings she has for Roy and the love she has for Lian and Tommy aren't strong enough to overcome her traumatic childhood and determination to do anything possible to avoid being captured or enslaved again.
* [[ManipulativeBastard Manipulative Bitch]]: She purposefully nuked Qurac because she knew if anyone would try to call her out on it they would have to remember she destroyed a country considered to be the terrorist capital of the world and may have considered it a blessing. She basically killed millions just to troll everyone.
* MasterPoisoner: Her most dangerous quality, she's capable of creating a huge variety of horrific toxins.
* MaternallyChallenged: Subverted. When she was taking care of Lian, and later Tommy, she didn't exactly mistreat or abuse them. But the general implications are that she only does so to carry on the facade of actually giving a shit about them so she can keep using and hurting their fathers. If it looks like she doesn't love her kids, then there's no reason for their dads to give a crap about her. Her original plan for Lian was to use her mere existence to torment Roy Harper as revenge for walking out on her, and Tommy's conception was so she'd at least have one child after leaving the Six and so Catman would have a reason to protect her when she betrayed the team. Gail Simone describes Cheshire as having a lizard-like mentality with her kids: the moment they become a detriment to her freedom, all bets are off.
* TheMillstone: Almost any time a story is being done about Roy and Lian Harper, chances are the main source of drama will come from their relation to Cheshire. Roy will angst over the fact that he was in love with a genocidal maniac and that Lian will hve to deal with the fact that her mother is a manipulative bitch who could never stop hurting others even if she wanted to (which is not very likely). Some authors have tried to get Roy to move past his old relationship, while others have ignored those movements forward for the sake of cheap drama. ''The Trial Of Cheshire'' in the first ''Titans'' volume is a decent example of this.
* MoralityPet: Her daughter Lian, and later her son by Catman, Thomas Jr.. [[spoiler:Now Lian is dead, and Catman convinced her that her son was too, so the MoralityChain may be severed]]. However, when Lian's safety was held over head to ensure her cooperation with the team, she was more than willing to conceive a replacement child just to leave the Six and betray them.
* MoralEventHorizon: In-universe it's usually considered to be her nuking {{Qurac}} ForTheEvulz in ''Deathstroke #19''.
* MsFanservice: When [[FanDisservice she's not being disturbing]], her revealing outfit and seductive mannerisms definitely fit this trope.
* MuggingTheMonster: The mercenary who went after her and tried to rape her probably should have read up on her history first. Let's just say it doesn't end well for him.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: The ending of "The Trial of Cheshire" shows Jade locked away in a prison cell and forced to look back on everything that got her to this point and realizes everything she did was her own fault. Unfortunately, after that she tries way too hard to numb herself by staying solely in her Cheshire persona.
* NeverMyFault: She hates Roy for leaving her and because he was investigating her for the government while they were dating. She has a right to be angry about the latter, but it hasn't dawned on her that her increasingly bloodthirsty actions and repeated excuses of how she can't change who she is are the reasons why Roy's refused to get back together with her.
* NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Following the retcon of Lian's death, Jade was shown leaving her unconscious and amnesiac daughter in a church in Gotham City operating under the pretext that it would be better for Lian to have a fresh start cut off from her parents and extended family. Fast forward several years later and it's shown Jade's spur of the moment plan backfired pretty badly, now that Lian's a homeless, pickpocketing teen orphan working as a lackey for Catwoman. Which isn't even taking into account that she abandoned Lian in Gotham City, [[WretchedHive of all places]].
