* DisabledInTheAdaptation: Zap is fairly well adjusted, but Buzz has serious issues stemming from being raised by electric eels. For one, he can only speak broken ponish and has to speak during sign language (though he ''is'' fluent and good with it).

* {{Expy}}: Of Glaurung, the 'Father of Dragons' from J.R.R. Tolkein's ''[[Literature/TheSilmarillion The Silmarillion]]'', who was a creation of Morgoth. They even share the same names.

* SemiDivine: Her father Valefor is a demi-god himself. However, unless her mother was one too, she's only 1/4 god.

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Skylanders Cynder didn't exactly have it easy, but at least her father seemed to genuinely had ''some'' care for her. In this case, Valefor only acted nice to her out of ''spite'', something she learned the hard way, on top of complications stimming from being half-wraith.

Dark Ember is what happened when Ember unfortunately overestimated herself.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** While terrifying and powerful, all of her previous opponents were essentially [[DumbMuscle brutes who prioritized brawn over brains]]. This meant that the moment she met an opponent with actual brains, she will be unprepared to face such a foe. When she picked a fight with [[GeniusBruiser Torch]], who is Dragonkind's MasterSwordsman, he [[CurbStompBattle beat her so badly]] that her rampage ended right there and then.
** She's a powerful artificial demi-goddess and extremely powerful...but fighting an EldritchAbomination, traveling all the way to Valefor's keep, fighting Valefor all the way to the core of the planet, and then flying Pyro ''all'' the way back to the surface (which was implied to have taken hours straight) by herself, all without stopping to rest once, would understandably exhaust anyone. The moment she makes it back to the surface, she collapses and is AsleepForDays.
** Valefor put her through a lifetime of abusive misery, nearly psychologically broke her, and came ''very'' close to nearly killing her and Pyro II several times, ending with her believing, even though they won, they were going to die anyway. Thus, Valefor is a major TraumaButton for her and when Mistletoe Dreamer attempts to resurrect him, it causes her to have a PTSD attack.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: He was [[RaisedByWolves raised by giant electric eels]]...which left him with serious social and communication issues, including an inability to speak well and having to learn sign language to communicate. And this is still better off than a real life feral child would likely turn out.

* {{Sadist}}: Has self-loathing issues over the fact that she used to like hurting people, owing to how she was brought up, and even after she turned good she STILL likes hurting people. Luckily, she's now only out to hurt those of villainous disposition at the present, [[ThisIsUnforgivable especially those]] [[BerserkButton who royally]] [[UnstoppableRage pissed her off]].

* MultipleHeadCase: {{Defied}}: despite being the sun of the eight-headed Yamata-no-Orochi, Pyro only has one head. He [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/871322352/4905645998 reveals]] this is because he ''could'' grow more heads, but it'd take a lot of effort, time, and pain he doesn't want to deal with, even if it'd make him stronger. That and it's implied this trope is at play and he'd have to deal with the other heads having personalities, and it can't be reversed.

* OneManArmy: He is this by default, having defeated many of the forces of Valefor along with his powerful lieutenants and allies with no one else but Cinder later on at his side. Even today, his power as a fully-grown Dragon demigod, mastery of elemental magic, and millennia of experience as a seasoned heroic warrior, serve to make him this even by Dragon standards.

* TheSacredDarkness: What his Dark Form is now, representing his acceptance of his inner darkness and becoming whole. They range from exiles and renegades to immigrants and rebels, and can come from individualistic "lone wolves" to whole communities and nations in size, like Dragontown in Fillydelphia and Cobbletown in Terra Equus.

!The Protodragons
Dragonkind's {{Psycho Prototype}}s created in ancient times from Tiamat as her first attempt to create her own species, lead by Glaurung, the Ashen Devastation and his brother Ancalagon, the Primal Inferno. They would prove completely uncontrollable and threaten to destroy all life on Equus, forcing Tiamat to team up with Bahamut and other gods defeat them, destroying most of them and sealing their divine progenitors away. Unfortunately, at the end of the Draconic Reformations, they were finally unleashed.

* DraconicAbomination: Unlike their 'successor' species, Glaurung and Ancalagon are Tiamat's PQ cast and molded into form, and thus are closer to eldritch horrors shaped like dragons than flesh and blood creatures. To a lesser degree this applies to their spawn.
* TheDreaded: The Heralds of Extinction and the Protodragons are so feared that even Tiamat is terrified of her creations, and Emperor Blackthorn considers them such a threat he willingly accepts an EnemyMine with Tiamat and Bahamut to stop them when they're unearthed.
* DugTooDeep: A desperate Dragon Lord and his flight dug deep into Draconia's surface looking for an edge, as the old guard of dragons were losing ground to the new ones. In doin so, they accidentally set the Heralds of Extinction and their spawn free.
* FlawedPrototype: As her first go of making them, the Protodragons aren't as refined as Tiamat's later creations. They lack a proper 'cooling system' for their fire breath and thus have to manually cool down.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: The Heralds of Extinction and their spawn are capable of destroying all life on Equus if not stopped. To highlight just ''how powerful'' they are: [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/869479644/4961431642 two of their Avatars and a horde of Protodragons]] attacked ''Malregnar'' and managed to force them to mobilize their ''full force'' into repelling the invasion. Vicearch Iniquitous had to ''[[GodzillaThreshold personally]]'' intervene, unleashing her pet and familiar (A ''mountain-sized BeastOfTheApocalypse'' in their true form and glory) to take on the Heralds' avatars, and it took ''days'' of battle which levelled a province and casting a magical WMD spell capable of destroying an entire kingdom as a CoupDeGrace to finally win.
* PsychoPrototype: They're Tiamat's first attempt at creating her own species. Unfortunately, as she lacked Bahamut's balance and was so inexperienced, they ended up being raging psychopaths who would've destroyed all life on Equus if not stopped.
* SealedEvilInACan: After their Protodragon spawn were destroyed, Glaurung and Ancalagon were sealed deep under Draconia for eons. Unfortunately, a desperate Dragon Lord and his Flight [[DugTooDeep accidentally unearth them]] at the end of the Draconic Reformations.
* SuperPrototype: As a whole, Protodragons are much stronger than their successor species, due to Tiamat having made them with that explicitly in mind. The Heralds of Extinction are comparable to Tiamat and Bahamut in power. Unfortunately for everyone, they're also super destructive, instinct driven beasts that could destroy all life on Equus if they're allowed to thrive.

* EnemyMine: Part of the reason the openly villainous Dragon Lord 'Astronoma' teamed up with the more heroic and honourable Dragon Lord Ember: They have mutual enemies and opposition to their ambitions from the rest of the '[[EvilReactionary Old Guard]]' among Dragon Lords and Dragonkind who looked down on them for not acting like 'True' Dragons. This is kept in secret so to keep their mutual claws clean from associating with each other, but their mutual aid and advice proved instrumental to each others' respective rise to power.

** To Dragon Lord Ember. Both are forward-thinking, clever, strong-willed and ambitious young Dragon Lords who wishes to bring Dragonkind into the future with new ways and new ideas. But while Ember is a benevolent visionary who's doing this for the good of all Dragonkind, 'Astronoma' is mostly in it for her own benefits and ends (and not being dragged down with old ways that she knows are doomed).
** To Ivory Towers. Both are respectively a CorruptCorporateExecutive and an EvilOverlord where they lorded over. Both are selfish, ambitious and ruthless villains molded by past tragedies and setbacks into the terrible beings they are today. Both also turned on their own families and [[BadBoss sacrificed/punished their employees for failure]]. However, 'Astronoma' is more [[PragmaticVillainy pragmatic]] and AffablyEvil than Ivory Towers, willing to even work with the good guys and ''not'' betray them impulsively for long-term profit. Ivory Towers' family were completely innocent and her sacrifice of them to summon Demons for power is considered an unforgivable crime, whereas 'Astronoma', at least by her own insistence, had some sort of excuse in that her own family were terrible and that they were 'asking for it' when she ate them. Ivory Towers' ambition completely revolves around her own benefit, at the expense of everyone else, while 'Astronoma' had somewhat grander ambitions for Dragonkind, even if it is still rooted in her own self-benefit. Ivory Towers was eventually overthrown, in part due to her self-destructive greed, while 'Astronoma' held onto her seat and would continue to rise to power, in spite of her own innate greed.
* GoodNeedsEvil: Her proposition to Ember carries a vibe of this. She noted that Ember's career is still quite nascent and she would need all the help she can get, meaning that she cannot afford to turn down support from the likes of 'Astronoma', who is implied to have substantial amount of resources and influence. Ember would concede to this point, and 'Astronoma' promises their secret alliance would be like that of Temnobog and Belyolen.
* GoodOldWays: Subverted hard. 'Astronoma' looks down upon the old, traditional and barbaric ways of 'True' Dragons and sees them as outdated. She had tried doing those in the past and failing miserably to get ahead - but when she turned to new 'civilized' ways of the non-Dragon races (by becoming a CorruptCorporateExecutive), she managed to acquire wealth and power beyond her wildest dreams. This is the reason why [[VillainRespect she apparently respected]] Dragon Lord Ember for trying to move Dragonkind away from them, seeing her as 'the future' of Dragonkind and is even willing to support Ember's ambition so that it would benefit her own.

* HiredGuns: Suggested to provide these, as some Dragons spotted among the forces aligned with the Equestrian Dragonflight during the '[[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/870667629/4905498906 Battle of Spire Cliffs]]' are noted to appear more like mercenaries than warriors, leading to speculation that Ember had hired some of her dragons to briefly bolster her and her allies further. The possibility that it may also be because 'Astronoma' is actually fully allied in secret with Ember and the Equestrian Dragonflight [[DramaticIrony are near-completely dismissed]].

* IGaveMyWord: Implied. She promised she would make her alliance with Ember worthwhile from her end (so long as she benefits), and from the description it's reflected that 'Astronoma''s aid did proved very important and beneficial to Ember's rise to power and the achievement of her ambitions. Helps that Dragon Lord Ember from her conversations with 'Astronoma' did showed that she intends to be very careful with what allies she makes and how she utilize them, meaning that Ember did made sure that 'Astronoma' have no reason to break her word.

* VillainHasAPoint: Believing Ember is squeamish about making an alliance with a villainous drakina like her, 'Astronoma' pointed out that as the likes of Dragon Lord Menhit demonstrated, Ember's progressive ideals have a lot of [[EvilReactionary near-systemic opposition]] among the Dragons and that she would need all the help she can get, including those from the likes of 'Astronoma', for the reforms she wished to implement to have any chance of succeeding. [[{{Touche}} Ember concedes she has a point]], but noted she had other reasons behind her hesitation.

* VillainOfAnotherStory: 'Astronoma' is openly villainous, serving as the BigBad of other heroes and villains, but none of it is shown thus far.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Deconstructed. Many Dragons prefer brute strength and power over intelligence and skill, and look down on [[FantasticSlurs 'Tinies']] for this reason. Any Dragon who doesn't follow social norms are [[NoTrueScotsman seen and derided as 'fake']]. It's implied this mentality was largely nurtured by Queen Tiamat, their mother goddess, who is the strongest Ryujin goddess and Dragonkind's instincts incarnate (ironically, Tiamat is not opposed to her children choosing to be good). However, it's this mindset that caused a huge majority of Dragons to become greedy, arrogant, and cruel, pillaging and destroying 'Tiny' civilizations because they can. This not only earned the hatred of their victims (which consists of ''almost every single non-Dragon race'' on the planet), but also made them prime targets for attempted genocide by others, as prominently shown in the 'Time of Broken Scales' event. As the 'Time of Trials' continues, Dragons like Ember are starting to realize that strength and power alone won't cut it, and become more progressive and tolerant as a result, while wicked/traditionalist Dragons often end up humiliated and/or killed by the world they once terrorized.

** A band of Dragons from a rival Dragonflight derided and disrespected Dragon Lord Ember over her use of armour, implying she is a 'wuss' for it.
