This is a list of the various civilizations and their leaders appearing in the Civ Battle Royale. Some of the civs are vanilla ones from the main game, but quite a few are modded ones created by fans.

'''No real life examples related to these civilizations, please.'''

----

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:Babylon]]
'''Babylon'''

->Leader: Nebuchadnezzar II

A vanilla civ, used by [=TPangolin=] to observe the game in progress. Exists as a single submarine hidden in Antarctica, which other civs cannot interact with.

* AdvancedAncientHumans: Existed in a submarine from day one, when everyone else on the cylinder was still trying to figure out how spears work.
* AlienNonInterferenceClause: Only takes action to fix bugs, and otherwise just observes.
* AllPowerfulBystander
* MysteriousAntarctica
* TheSpymaster: Babylon's spies frequent various world capitals, and report back on leaders' plots against one another. The spies are Em, Ishtar, and Semiramis.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:MK I Exclusives]]
'''Gran Colombia'''

->Leader: Simon Bolivar
->Capital: Bogotá

A mod created by Leugi.

* TheScrappy: His horribly bugged mod led to the end of MK I, leading him to be cast as the villain in the short-lived MK III alternate reality game.

'''The Hittites'''

->Leader: Suppiluliumas I
->Capital: Hattusa

A mod created by Tomatekh, with contributions by janboruta.

* TooDumbToLive: His settling pattern was almost suicidal.

'''North Korea'''

->Leader: Kim Jong-Il
->Capital: Pyeongyang

A mod created by Mathetes tou Megalou Alexandrou.

* ButtMonkey: One of the only civs to die in MK I.

'''United Kingdom'''

->Leader: Churchill
->Capital: London

A mod created by JFD and Janboruta, with contributions from Leugi, Danrell, bernie14, Mattygp90 and Andreas Waldetoft.

'''Japan'''

->Leader: Tojo
->Capital: Tokyo

A mod created by JFD and Janboruta, with contributions from Leugi, Regalman, Knightmare12, Danrell, whoward69, and Andreas Waldetoft.

* ButtMonkey: Due to bugs, one of their cities had to be deleted.

'''Qin'''

->Leader: Shi Huang
->Capital: Xianyang

A mod created by LastSword.

* TheBusCameBack: Though it's under a different modder, Qin returned in the CBRX.

'''India'''

->Leader: Gandhi
->Capital: New Delhi

A civ created by Firaxis.

'''America'''

->Leader: Washington
->Capital: Washington

A civ created by Firaxis.

'''The Khmer'''

->Leader: Jayavarman VII
->Capital: Angkor Thom

A mod created by Sukritact.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:North America]]
'''The Inuit'''

->Leader: Ekeuhnick
->Capital: Ivvavik

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* BigBad: For North America, or at least characterised as such; they are popularly referred to as the White Walkers.
* EndlessWinter: Tied in with FisherKing. Lands controlled by the Inuit are described as un-seasonally cold, regardless of location.
* EskimoLand: Obviously. Averted in the later eras, where the Inuit became one of the most high-tech civs.
* SacrificialLion: [[spoiler:Got killed by Brazil easily after having been seen as the big bad of America for so long, bonus points for just having finished crushing the Blackfoor]]
* TheSpook: Nobody is sure if they're even human at all.

'''The Blackfoot'''

->Leader: Crowfoot
->Capital: Siksikáwa

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: Being stuck next to the Inuit, a front-runner, will do that.
* VestigialEmpire: Once a superpower that spans across multiple parts of North America, they were quickly reduced into a single outlying Hawaiian island no thanks to the relentless assault of the White Walkers.

'''The Sioux'''

->Leader: Sitting Bull
->Capital: Hunkpapa

A mod created by Tomatekh.

* BackFromTheDead: Sitting Bull has been revived twice, and is currently dead for the third time.
* ButtMonkey
* RasputinianDeath: Was killed ''thrice'', twice by the Inuit and once by Canada.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Canada}}'''

->Leader: Lester B. Pearson
->Capital: Ottawa

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* FictionalUnitedNations: Canada had hosted the World Congress for quite a while.
* SacrificialLion: To the Inuit, much like [[spoiler: The Blackfoot]].
* SeriesMascot: Pearson appears front and center in the logo of the second BR.

'''[[UsefulNotes/TheUnitedStates America]]'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/AbrahamLincoln
->Capital: Washington

A modded America by JFD and Janboruta.

* BackFromTheDead: Once, briefly.
* BeingGoodSucks: Adopting democracy didn't work for them in a world full of fascist conquerors.

'''Texas'''

->Leader: Sam Houston
->Capital: Austin

A mod created by [=RawSasquatch=].

* HeroicSecondWind: A devastating war with the Inuit eventually reduced them to a single city, but they recently retook a city from Mexico, making them the first city state ever to capture a city.
* VestigialEmpire: Once one of the stronger civs in the game; however, Mexico and the Inuit swept through them, and they were left with Laredo.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Mexico}}'''

->Leader: Benito Juárez
->Capital: Ciudad Juárez

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* ChristianityIsCatholic: Mexico founded Catholicism, which is one of the two variants of Christianity in the CBR (the other being Eastern Orthodoxy from Ethiopia). It was the largest religion in the world before 2.1 came around.

'''[[UsefulNotes/PreColumbianCivilizations Maya]]'''

->Leader: Pacal
->Capital: Palenque

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of the Maya.

* LazyBum: They never managed to create a competent defense against the Buccaneers.

'''[[UsefulNotes/TheGoldenAgeOfPiracy The Buccaneers]]'''

->Leader: Henry Morgan
->Capital: Port Royal

A mod created by More Civilizations. The Buccaneers were at one time, one of the top superpowers of the cylinder, almost entirely due to the extremely aggressive behavior of Henry Morgan's AI. The Buccaneers engaged in a series of brutal nuclear wars ranging from South America to Europe to Northern Africa, creating a transcontinental pirate empire. His reckless boldness and the success of his unsustainable war machine made the Buccaneers a fan favorite, despite the obvious fact that Henry Morgan was overextending himself and that his navy consisted largely of useless aircraft carriers. Eventually, several nations including the Boers declared war on them, taking back most of the Buccaneer holdings. Nowadays, the remnants of the Buccaneer state still survives in the Caribbean where they started, though being boxed in by the Inuit and Brazil doesn't make any future expansion easy for them.

* TheHero: Arguably the main protagonist of the BR for a while... until they started a nuclear war in Mali.
* {{Pirate}}: Obviously.
* KnightOfCerebus: After they caused a nuclear holocaust in Mali.
* FearlessFool: Henry Morgan's conquest of Northern Africa placed him at the doorstep of the Boers, the most powerful nation on the Cylinder with a military force of futuristic units that far outclassed his. Instead of treading carefully around the Boers, Henry Morgan proceeded to launch a barrage of nukes on African soil, setting up border cities that were almost completely defenseless against their Boer neighbors that lay immediately to the south.
* MoralEventHorizon: Crossed it according to some fans after the nuking of Mali.
* OmnicidalManiac: Henry Morgan is not shy about using nuclear weapons, leveling the Malinese and Moroccan cities to radioactive ash before taking them.
* PaperTiger: The success of the Buccaneer wars and their vast transcontinental territories made them seem like a powerful civ, but under the surface lay an army stretched ridiculously thin. The huge Buccaneer navy consisted mostly of worthless aircraft carriers, they had very few land units defending their inland cities such as in South America, and the enormous distance between their cities across the Atlantic meant that the already under equipped pirate military had to spread itself out even further. When the Boers finally attacked, the Buccaneers fell very quickly.
* UnpopularPopularCharacter: Nearly every single civ on the Cylinder hates Henry Morgan's guts. Despite this, the Buccaneers ended up as one of the most popular civs in the fandom due to the success of their empire despite limited resources compared to the other superpowers. While incredibly powerful nations with giant carpets of futuristic units like the Boers sat around doing nothing, the Buccaneers were out seizing huge inter-continental holdings all the way out across the ocean.
* VestigialEmpire: The Buccs used to control the Caribbean, Iberia, a chunk of North Africa, and a sizable part of South America.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:South America]]
'''[[UsefulNotes/PreColumbianCivilizations Inca]]'''

->Leaders: Pachacuti
->Capital: Cusco

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of the Inca.

* ButtMonkey
* ForeverWar: With Brazil over the city of Machu.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Brazil}}'''

->Leader: Pedro II
->Capital: Rio de Janeiro

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Brazil.

* BewareTheNiceOnes : One of the friendlier nations of the game,but he made an very brutal conquest of Chile. And South America. [[spoiler: And Europe. And the Middle East. And India. And the ''entire continent of Africa'' which had the Boers.]] It's safe to say they're no longer the nice ones indeed.
* ForeverWar: With the Inca. Until it ended.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler: Before the hiatus, they were considered one of the least likely powers to win due to their geographical isolation. After the hiatus... Well, not so much.]]
* LethalJokeCharacter: A culture oriented vanilla Civ with no particular biases for warfare and a start widely ridiculed as too isolated... ends up conquering all of South America, [[spoiler: most of Europe, the Middle East and ''India'', and then replaces the ''Boers as sole ruler of Africa'']]. God-''damn''
* MagikarpPower: His late-game bonuses turned out for the better due to the lesser population loss from city captures.
* OutsideContextVillain: To Sweden. The Swedes had spent most of their wars as the eternal foes of their neighbors Iceland to the west and Sibir to the east. They had managed to fight both civs to a standstill in two-front wars twice and managed to come out mostly unscathed... then Brazil, a civ from a different continent altogether, came along and easily conquered most of Sweden's European lands. No one saw it coming.
* SerialEscalation: Goes from taking control of their real life territory, to killing off the rest of South America sans the Buccaneers, to [[spoiler: conquering most of Swedish Europe, unite the Middle East, before finally ''kicking the Boers out of Africa'']].
* TookALevelInBadass:
** They were overshadowed by the Buccaneers and the Chileans for sometime due to their lackluster bonuses, until they killed Chile off and pushed the Buccaneers off South America. They rivaled Korea as the most successful Vanilla civs.
** They took ''another'' -- or several --- levels in badass after the hiatus, when they suddenly started to pump out so many military units that they started flooding into virtually every corner of the world, easily eclipsing the military size of other frontrunners like the Boers and Inuit. Then, along with Iceland, Sibir, Vietnam and the Kimberley [[spoiler:they declared war on seemingly invincible Boers and captured most of west Africa and India with ease. It's a turning point in the whole game, making Brazil seemingly the most powerful civ alive.]]
* WalkingSpoiler
* WeHaveReserves: [[spoiler:Since total war has been declared, Brazil's main strategy has been to overwhelm the enemy lines with Xcoms and infantry, while using almost no artillery and planes whatsoever. This has worked fairly well because of Brazil's huge production advantage and wonder bonuses, but it came with a large amount of casualties as well.]]

'''{{UsefulNotes/Chile}}'''

->Leader: Bernardo O'Higgins
->Capital: Santiago de Chile

A mod created by Leugi.

* TricksterArchetype: Especially in MK 1, the Chilean navy had a habit of capturing random cities far outside their territory, leading to the nickname "Chilean Backdoor Squad".

'''{{UsefulNotes/Argentina}}'''

->Leader: [[UsefulNotes/EvaPeron Eva Perón]]
->Capital: Buenos Aires

A mod created by Leugi.

* ButtMonkey: Most of South-America declared war on them after they captured the Inca city of Machu. They were eliminated soon after
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Europe]]
'''{{UsefulNotes/Iceland}}'''

->Leader: Ingolfur Arnarson
->Capital: Reykjavík

A mod created by JFD and Janboruta.

* CurbStompBattle: With Ireland and France.
* MagikarpPower: Their possession of Greenland. Initially Greenland was one of the most worthless areas in the game, due to the massive amount of snowtiles. However, after Iceland got Future Worlds improvements, it gave them a massive area to build tile improvements to boost their science, which then skyrocketed.
* FairWeatherFriend: They used to be a member of the OCP, during which they got two capitals but otherwise acted more like a hindrance to the OCP ally, the Buccaneers. Soon after, they peaced out with the Boers and eventually declared war on the Buccaneers, conquering their remaining territories in North-Africa and Portugal.
* OpportunisticBastard: Ingólfur has a tendency to declare wars on powers that have ''just'' finished a major conquest and are still recuperating. This is how he steamrolled Ireland after its conquest of England and seemingly how he intended to take Sweden after its takedown of Finland. That last one wasn't quite as successful.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Ireland}}'''

->Leader: Malachy II
->Capital: Dublin

A mod created by Hiram as part of the Celts split.

* PyrrhicVictory: They were conquered by Iceland a few parts after they spent many units conquering their archrival England.

'''[[UsefulNotes/{{Britain}} England]]'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/ElizabethI
->Capital: London

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of England.

* HeroOfAnotherStory: They won the BR Mini, despite being eliminated early on in MK 2 of the main BR.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Norway}}'''

->Leader: Haakon Haakonsson
->Capital: Oslo

A mod created by JFD and Janboruta.

* LazyBum: Known by the community as "Snoreway".

'''{{UsefulNotes/Sweden}}'''

->Leader: Gustavus Adolphus
->Capital: Stockholm

A partially modded variation on the vanilla Civ V Sweden by JFD and Janboruta.

* TookALevelInBadass: Was dormant for a while before they conquered Norway, Germany, part of Sparta, and sparred with Finland. They even held back the Boers and even Sibir and Iceland at the same time for a time. In addition, they were the second worst civ in the game according to the initial power ranking thread
** But then [[spoiler: Brazil attacked]]...

'''{{UsefulNotes/Finland}}'''

->Leader: Urho Kekkonen
->Capital: Helsinki

A mod created by Hypereon.

* FanNickname: ''Exclavia'' after they were crippled by Sweden.
* PaperTiger: By the time Sweden declared war on them their armies were mostly spent.
* QuirkyGood: Or evil, depending on your perspective. Their quirk being a fondness for exclaves.
* TricksterArchetype: They had an infamous habit of grabbing random cities many tiles away from their homeland, even going as far as to eliminate ''The Mughals'' all the way in India.
* VestigialEmpire: They were reduced to three small exclaves hundreds of miles away from their old territory after their war with Sweden.

'''{{UsefulNotes/France}}'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/NapoleonBonaparte
->Capital: Paris

A partially modded variation on the vanilla Civ V France by JFD and Janboruta.

* GeneralFailure: The AI's incompetent handling of France makes Napoleon (constantly failing to take the English mainland city of York, mass casualties in Orleans in several wars againt the much weaker England, losing the German conquest of Cologne to ''Portugal'' and never recuperating it, and declaring a fatal war against a much more powerful country) come off this way.
* LazyBum: Downplayed. While they were fairly active early on, after their elimination of England, they did basically nothing.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: Declared war on the much more powerful Iceland.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Germany}}'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler
->Capital: Berlin

A modded Germany by JFD and Jaboruta.

* NoSwastikas: Averted, in contrast to vanilla Civ's tendency to avoid Nazi references.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Poland}}'''

->Leader: Casimir III
->Capital: Warsaw

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Poland.

* TooDumbToLive: Declared a pointless war on Germany while already being surrounded by the major hostile powers of Sparta, Russia and Finland.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Portugal}}'''

->Leader: Maria I
->Capital: Lisbon

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Portugal.

* CloudCuckooLander: Maria is commonly shown as one after trading multiple cities to far-away Civs in peace deals.
* LazyBum: Although hardly the only example, Maria became infamous for her tendency to do almost nothing for extraordinary lengths of time.

'''[[UsefulNotes/TheRomanEmpire Rome]]'''

->Leader: [[UsefulNotes/{{Augustus}} Augustus Caesar]]
->Capital: Rome

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Rome.

* LastOfHisKind: The Last Legion (and Last Ballista), wandering other civs' territory after Rome's fall.
* SacrificialLamb: First civ to get completely conquered.

'''[[AncientGreece Sparta]]'''

->Leader: Leonidas
->Capital: Sparta

A mod created by More Civilizations as part of their Greece split.

* FanNickname: ''Dvin'' after their long-time capital-in-exile.
* LandOfOneCity: At one point the only city of Sparta that was left was the (former) Ayyubid city of Dvin.
* HeroicSecondWind: Took two cities from their former conqueror Finland, before getting steamrolled by the Boers.
* PuppetKing: Subverted. In-game,Leonidas still is 100% responsible for Dvin,but most fanon shows that the TRUE ruler of Dvin is reddit user /u/SirMallock.
'''[[UsefulNotes/SovietRussiaUkraineAndSoOn Soviet Union]]'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/JosefStalin
->Capital: Moscow

A mod created by JFD and Janboruta.

* SuicidalOverconfidence: Declared war on Finland, who was a top 10 power at the time.
* TheAlcoholic

'''The Huns'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/AttilaTheHun
->Capital: Attila's Court

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of the Huns.

* RapePillageAndBurn: To their detriment. As in a normal game, Attila loves to burn cities down after conquering them, but doing so in the Battle Royale denied him crucial territory, production, and infrastructure.

'''[[UsefulNotes/ByzantineEmpire Byzantium]]'''

->Leader: Alexios I Komnenos
->Capital: Constantinople

A modded Byzantium by JFD and Janboruta.

* ButtMonkey: Its territory was partitioned between Armenia and Sparta almost immediately.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Africa]]
'''{{UsefulNotes/Morocco}}'''

->Leader: Ahmad al-Mansur
->Capital: Marrakech

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Morocco.

* FairWeatherFriend: After some early conflicts, they got along quite well with Carthage, but declared war after the latter was reduced to a rump state.

'''Carthage'''

->Leader: [[UsefulNotes/PunicWars Hannibal]]
->Capital: Carthage

A modded Carthage by JFD and Janboruta.

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: While fighting a war against Sparta and Ethiopia, they easily held off Sparta, until they took Bilbais, allowing the much stronger Ethiopian army a land route through their empire. Needless to say, things went poorly for them thereafter.
* RockBeatsLaser: Carthage fought several successful wars because of tactical superiority, most notably against the Ayyubids, despite being behind in tech.
* UsefulNotes/PunicWars: Averted, Carthage in the CBR never fought Rome despite being next door neighbours.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Mali}}'''

->Leader: Mansa Musa
->Capital: Nyeni

A mod created by Tomatekh.

* PollutedWasteland: Courtesy of the Buccaneers.

'''The Ashanti'''

->Leader: Osei Tutu I
->Capital: Kumasi

A mod created by More Civilizations.

* ButtMonkey: One of the first civs to die after being thoroughly gangbanged by all of their neighbours.

'''The Ayyubids'''

->Leader: Saladin
->Capital: Cairo

A mod created by More Civilizations.

* ButtMonkey: Was forced to wage constant wars with Sparta, Carthage, and finally Ethiopia.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Ethiopia}}'''

->Leader: Haile Selassie
->Capital: Addis Ababa

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Ethopia.

* SacrificialLion: After a period of being a power and a world player, they were crushed with efficiency by the Boers after starting a global war against them.
* TookALevelInBadass: Spent most of the game dormant before completely conquering Carthage and later Arabia.

'''Kongo'''

->Leader: Nzinga
->Capital: M'banza-Kongo

A mod created by Tomatekh and More Civilizations.

'''The Boers'''

->Leader: [[UsefulNotes/TheSecondBoerWar Paul Kruger]]
->Capital: Pretoria

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies. The Boer Ryk is the effective Hyperpower of the cylinder. After gaining the tech lead, the Boers snowballed, taking over most of Africa and eventually Iberia. While other superpowers such as the Inuit and Australia have grown in might to rival them, they maintained the No. 1 spot on the rankings, and no civ or combinations of civs in the game stands readily able to defeat them in their current state. [[spoiler:Until Brazil came along.]]

* AlienKudzu: The Boers created the [[FesteringFungus Pholus Mutagen]] wonder, which coated their lands with a toxic xenofungus that was harmless to their robot bodies, but hostile to outsiders. (In effect, it had the same ability as the Great Wall, but as a permanent bonus) During the reboot, the Babylonians decided to remove the mutagen, afraid of the effect it might have on the rest of the world. (It was removed because the mutagen dragged down the already inefficient AI movement to a crawl, and made the Boers almost impossible to successfully invade by any AI opponent.) As a moment of DramaticIrony or BlackComedy, this removal [[spoiler:ends up dooming the Boers to conquest by Brazil]].
* AmoralAfrikaner
* BigBad: To some, though this role is sometimes taken over by the Inuit. [[spoiler: Now taken by Brazil]].
* BreakTheHaughty:
** [[spoiler:The second Orange Containment Project, led by Brazil, handed the Boers their first decisive military defeat and resulted in them losing most of West Africa and all of India, which they had just conquered from Vietnam]].
** And then it got worse; [[spoiler:Brazil, who were until the second OCP regarded as a joke vanilla Civ, ends up being the ones to kick them out of Africa]].
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: They used to be one of the greatest civilizations in the game and used to own pretty much the entire African continent, the Middle East, parts of Asia, along with the Mediterannian borders. [[spoiler:But then come Brazil and within just a few parts, they systematically and relentlessly conquered ''every'' single one of their cities to the point that by the time Brazil have finally decided to make peace, they only controlled four cities, each around the desolate land of Antartica]].
* HumiliationConga [[spoiler:Everything from the second OCP onwards.]]
* PerpetualPoverty: Like the other huge nations, the Boers are actually extremely poor in their gold income. Not that this stops them from dominating their enemies.
* RobotWar: The Boers are often depicted as robots or cyborgs with jetpacks in comparison to other civ mascots. Not to mention, they are also the home of [[Film/TheTerminator Skynet]], which gives their entire military a slight combat boost.
* SacrificedBasicSkillForAwesomeTraining: Despite their knowledge of future technologies, the Boers were initially unable to build future era improvements due to incompatibility between their special worker unit and the Future Worlds mod. This was fixed in a later patch by manually replacing all the special Boer workers with regular workers.
* StupidJetpackHitler: As the premier Autocracy state in the world, the Boers field advanced wonder weapons the like of which the Nazis could only dream of.
* VestigialEmpire: [[spoiler:Brazil kicked them off Africa in Part 108. All they had after that was a few outlying cities around the Antarctican colonies. There's no hope for them left]].

'''[[UsefulNotes/SouthAfrica The Zulus]]'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/ShakaZulu
->Capital: Ulundi

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of the Zulus.

* TheWorfEffect: One of the most dreaded vanilla civs, they were crushed by the Boers with ease early on.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mideast]]
'''{{UsefulNotes/Israel}}'''

->Leader: [[Literature/TheBible David]]
->Capital: Jerusalem

A mod created by Leugi.

* BackFromTheDead: Albeit only as the city of Gaza and reduced to a few tiles.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Armenia}}'''

->Leader: Tiridates III
->Capital: Yerevan

A mod created by JFD and Janboruta.

* FanNickname: ''Awwmenia'' when they were reduced to the 5-tile city of Gaza.
* MartialPacifist: At one point, they had more civilian units than military units, leading them to be seen as this by the fanbase.

'''Arabia'''

->Leader: Harun al-Rashid
->Capital: Mecca

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Arabia.

* TheSmartGuy: They were quite far ahead in tech compared to the other Middle East civs.

'''[[UsefulNotes/{{Iran}} Persia]]'''

->Leader: Darius I
->Capital: Persepolis

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Persia.

* LazyBum: Never did anything relevant except for a few futile wars against Afghanistan, after which they were soon annexed by Vietnam.

'''The Timurids'''

->Leader: Timur
->Capital: Samarqand

A mod created by Tomatekh.

* TheScrappy: One of the most generic and least liked civs.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Afghanistan}}'''

->Leader: Mirwais Hotak
->Capital: Kabul

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* CommieNazis: One of the few order civs, which didn't help their popularity.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Asia]]
'''Sibir'''

->Leader: Kuchum Khan
->Capital: Qashliq

A mod created by Hiram.

* HordesFromTheEast: To Finland and Sweden.

'''[[UsefulNotes/{{India}} The Mughals]]'''

->Leader: Akbar
->Capital: Agra

A mod created by More Civilizations as part of their India split.

* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Choosing freedom didn't earn him any friends.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Sri Lanka}}'''

->Leader: Parakramabahu I
->Capital: Colombo

A mod created by Light in the East.

* LazyBum: There's several parts that he is doing nothing relevant.
* SacrificialLamb: [[spoiler: Brazil's first territory in the Old World]].
* SchizoTech: Sri Lanka was still using triremes long after most of the world had switched to caravels.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Tibet}}'''

->Leader: Songtsän Gampo
->Capital: Lhasa

A mod created by More Civilizations. While once a contender for East Asia, the Tibetans were eventually reduced to a single rump state smack in the middle of Vietnam. Despite fielding an army of riflemen and foreign legions which would die instantly against any of the Vietnamese future world units, the Vietnamese have decided to keep them around for one reason or another, acting as a protective buffer against the other hostile superpowers of the cylinder, all of whom desperately want Lhasa dead. Tibet also stands as one of the remaining Freedom nations in the game, though the Statue of Liberty was taken by Vietnam long ago.

* Fiction500: Tibet is actually obscenely rich in its gold income, with a treasury far exceeding any of the premier world superpowers. A prevailing theory as to why Vietnam doesn't destroy them is that Lhasa can only reach Vietnamese cities with its trade routes, and thus trades solely with them. The theory goes that the Vietnamese gain more gold from trading with Lhasa than they do by taking the city for themselves.
* LandOfOneCity: Tibet was reduced to just Lhasa for a long time before finally being conquered by Vietnam. The main reason it managed not to get conquered may be it being almost completely surrounded by mountains, making capturing it more trouble than it's worth.
* PerfectPacifistPeople: Lives in peace with its warmonger neighbors.
* StoneWall: Their capital being surrounded by mountains provided them with phenomenal defense, giving them much more longevity than would be expected from a militarily weak civ with aggressive neighbors.
* SwissBankAccount: One theory as to why the Vietnamese government preferred to keep them around.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Mongolia}}'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/GenghisKhan
->Capital: Karakorum

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Mongolia.

* HordesFromTheEast: Actually averted, they've never significantly expanded to the west.

'''Yakutia'''

->Leader: Tygyn Darkhan
->Capital: Jokuskai

A mod created by Hiram.

* FanNickname: ''Snoryak''.
* LazyBum: To the point of being frequently compared to [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Snorlax]].
* VestigialEmpire: One of the game's saddest examples. They used to be a massive empire covering most of northeastern Asia, but currently consist of a single city located on the snowy, barren shores of the Russian arctic.

'''{{UsefulNotes/China}}'''

->Leader: UsefulNotes/MaoZedong
->Capital: Beijing

A modded China by Our World.

* IHaveManyNames: Mao Zedong kept picking up more and more nicknames as the game went on.
* VestigialEmpire: Survived for a ''very'' long time after being mostly conquered, before finally being finished off.

'''Korea'''

->Leader: Sejong
->Capital: Seoul

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Korea.

* ArchEnemy: To the Vietnamese.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: They are one of the few science-focuses civs in the BR - then they seized a chance to invade and take most of Northern Vietnam. After a long buildup, they waged war against Yakutia, and ''won''.
* BigGood: To the Japanese.
* BrotherSisterTeam: Korea and Japan can be argued as this.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: In a way it can often be seen that Korea in CBR Mk2 was like a brother to Japan, as it always was there whenever Japan was getting harmed by her "neighborhood" bullies.
* ProudScholarRace: Korea's significant science bonuses have kept them in the running despite having much less territory than the main front-runners. Their rankings skyrocketed once they defeated Yakutia.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Japan}}'''

->Leader: [[UsefulNotes/MeijiRestoration Meiji]]
->Capital: Tokyo

A modded Japan by JFD and Janboruta.

* BackFromTheDead: They were resurrected by another civ at the outbreak of total war, albeit only as a city state due to how the reboot handled dead civs.
* LandOfOneCity: Has been reduced to Osaka for a long time.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: As stated previously, Japan can easily be seen as this to Korea due to having to rely on the Koreans to ensure their survival. Of course despite Japan being kept "alive" by Korea, she eventually died permanently once Korea didn't have the power to liberate it. But regardless it is truly amazing how Korea tried to keep Japan alive as long as possible and protect it from any enemies, and honestly that is very much the definition of this trope.
* TrueCompanions: With Korea, possibly the only instance of two countries getting along better in the Battle Royale than in real life.

'''[[UsefulNotes/ThatSouthEastAsianCountry Burma]]'''

->Leader: Anawrahta
->Capital: Rangoon

A mod created by More Civilizations.

* TheGenericGuy: To the point where the narrators started poking fun at it.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Vietnam}}'''

->Leader: Trung Sisters
->Capital: Hanoi

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* ArchEnemy: Australia
* EnsembleDarkHorse
* EtTuBrute: To Tibet, after huge international pressure.

'''Champa'''

->Leader: Chế Bồng Nga
->Capital: Panduranga

A mod created by Tomatekh.

* {{Pirate}}
* WholesomeCrossdresser: After being annexed by Vietnam, Che became known as the "third Trung sister" among fans.

'''[[UsefulNotes/{{Philippines}} The Philippines]]'''

->Leader: José Rizal
->Capital: Manila

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* BackFromTheDead: Against all odds, the Blackfoot resurrected them in the outbreak of total war, albeit only as a city state due to how the reboot handled dead civs.
* TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Because of his peaceful attitude, Rizal's overextended empire was rapidly devoured by its neighbours.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Indonesia}}'''

'''The Kimberley'''

->Leader: Jandamarra
->Capital: Rubibi

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* GovernmentInExile: Lost their homeland in northwest Australia long ago, and currently exist only in their holdings in Indonesia and the Antarctic coast.
* VestigialEmpire: They used to control one half of Australia, before a devastating war with Australia drove them away.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Australia}}'''

->Leader: Henry Parkes
->Capital: Sydney

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* ArchEnemy: To the Maori, the Kimberley and later the Vietnamese.
* TheEmpire: Controlled one of the largest empires by total area, which stretched across the Pacific Ocean.
* FanNickname: Not they themselves, but their famously huge navy: the Grand Wobbegong Armada. ("Wobbegong" refers to a type of reef shark native to Australian waters.)
* {{Irony}}: Their most famous rival was the Maori. Their last cities at game's end were in New Zealand.
* LastStand: Thanks to its status as a major power and its position far away from most of the rest of the world, Australia's capital, Sydney, ended up being the very last to fall.
* TheRemnant: When the game ended in the aforementioned fall of Sydney, a few Aussie cities in New Zealand had not yet been captured by Brazil. (Had the game continued, they wouldn't have lasted more than a couple of turns.)
* VillainDecay: Once one of the cylinder's most feared civs (to the point where some people jokingly accused the Australian-born Tpang of rigging the game in their favor), their expansion hit some major setbacks. They lost Sri Lanka and the northern Philippines to Vietnam, Tokyo to Korea and all their American holdings to native civs. They ended up falling, like everyone else, to Brazil.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Hawaii}}'''

'''{{UsefulNotes/Mexico}}'''

->Leader: Benito Juárez

'''[[UsefulNotes/PreColumbianCivilizations Maya]]'''

->Leader: Pacal
->Capital: Palenque

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of the Maya.

* LazyBum: They never managed to create a competent defense against the Buccaneers.

'''[[UsefulNotes/TheGoldenAgeOfPiracy The Buccaneers]]'''

->Leader: Henry Morgan
->Capital: Port Royal

* {{Pirate}}: Obviously.

* ForeverWar: With Brazil over the city of Machu.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Brazil}}'''

->Leader: Pedro II
->Capital: Rio de Janeiro

* TookALevelInBadass:
* WalkingSpoiler

'''{{UsefulNotes/Iceland}}'''

->Leader: Ingolfur Arnarson
->Capital: Reykjavík

->Leader: UsefulNotes/NapoleonBonaparte
->Capital: Paris

->Leader: Nzinga
->Capital: M'banza-Kongo

A mod created by Tomatekh and More Civilizations.

'''The Boers'''

->Leader: [[UsefulNotes/TheSecondBoerWar Paul Kruger]]
->Capital: Pretoria

* AmoralAfrikaner
* BigBad: To some, though this role is sometimes taken over by the Inuit. [[spoiler: Now taken by Brazil]].

'''{{UsefulNotes/Tibet}}'''

->Leader: Songtsän Gampo
->Capital: Lhasa

The theory goes that the Vietnamese gain more gold
from trading with Lhasa than they do by taking the city for themselves.

* VestigialEmpire: Survived for a ''very'' long time after being mostly conquered, before finally being finished off.

'''Korea'''

->Leader: Sejong
->Capital: Seoul

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Korea.

* ArchEnemy: To the Vietnamese.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: They are one of the few science-focuses civs in the BR - then they seized a chance to invade and take most of Northern Vietnam. After a long buildup, they waged war against Yakutia, and ''won''.
* BigGood: To the Japanese.

->Leader: [[UsefulNotes/MeijiRestoration Meiji]]
->Capital: Tokyo

->Leader: Anawrahta
->Capital: Rangoon

A mod created by More Civilizations.

* TheGenericGuy: To the point where the narrators started poking fun at it.

'''{{UsefulNotes/Vietnam}}'''

->Leader: Trung Sisters
->Capital: Hanoi

A mod created by Colonialist Legacies.

* ArchEnemy: Australia
* EnsembleDarkHorse
* EtTuBrute: To Tibet, after huge international pressure.

'''Champa'''

->Leader: Chế Bồng Nga
->Capital: Panduranga

A mod created by Tomatekh.

* {{Pirate}}
* WholesomeCrossdresser: After being annexed by Vietnam, Che became known as the "third Trung sister" among fans.

'''[[UsefulNotes/{{Philippines}} The Philippines]]'''

->Leader: José Rizal
->Capital: Manila

->Leader: Gajah Mada
->Capital: Jakarta

Civ V's vanilla incarnation of Indonesia.
* LazyBum: Was labeled as the most irrelevant civ in the game until they were swiftly killed by the Kimberley.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Oceania]]
'''The Kimberley'''

->Leader: Jandamarra
->Capital: Rubibi

->Leader: Henry Parkes
->Capital: Sydney

'''[[UsefulNotes/NewZealand Maori]]'''

->Leader: Te Rauparaha
->Capital: Parihaka

A mod created by More Civilizations as part of their Polynesia split.

* DyingMomentOfAwesome: Didn't immediately die afterwards, but their nuclear strike on (and brief capture of) Sydney came right before the Maori were all-but-eliminated. (Their central American conquests held out a bit longer, but still.)

'''{{UsefulNotes/Hawaii}}'''

->Leader: Kamehameha
->Capital: Honolulu

A modded Hawaii using vanilla leader Kamehameha, created by More Civilizations as part of their Polynesia split.

* PerfectPacifistPeople: One of the main exporters of "peacekeepers", and before they were reduced to a rump state they only really fought a couple of wars against Mexico.
