!!Hercules

Son of Zeus. Lion of Olympus. Prince of Power.
One of the most powerful entities greatest heroes of all time, whose name is often preceded by 'the Incredible' and for good reason. A bona fide {{Badass}} and second cousin of Thor, he might not be the brightest star in the universe with a proclivity for pyromania heavens, but he's definitely one you want on a cosmic scale and a fondness for humanity, [[spoiler: Harry in particular]].

Added DiffLines:

* {{Badass}}: Operating on the level of a SuperSoldier, he twice goes toe to toe with Baron Zemo and survives (though admittedly in both cases, it's stated that Zemo let him live because he was a WorthyOpponent) and takes apart pretty much anyone else foolish to take him on in a blur.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: As GoodIsNotSoft shows, pushing him is a bad idea.
* BlackAndNerdy: He's a bona fide genius. He's also a SuperSoldier level badass.
* CharacterDevelopment: He's a bit cocky to begin with, relying over-much on his abilities. An encounter with Baron Zemo [[spoiler: who kills his father]] cures him of this. Zemo himself [[VillainRespect remarks that he's growing from 'complacent cub' to 'fearsome cat'.]]

ComicBook/SubMariner, King of Atlantis. Broadly benevolent - or at least, opposed to the likes of HYDRA - but pursues his own agenda in the form of protecting his kingdom (and protecting the surface world ''from'' his kingdom). Also a bit of a dick.

[[folder: The Prime Minister]]

The British Prime Minister, heavily implied to be the one from the Harry Potter series, intentionally left fairly faceless - though some of the dialogue and the time frame implies that he's a mix of John Major and Tony Blair. He's a bit beleaguered by all the superhuman antics, and thus eager to rely on Peter Wisdom, but is broadly a good man. In chapter 70, he turns out to be a target for HYDRA.

[[hardline]]

* CompositeCharacter: of RealLife British Prime Minister John Major and his successor, Tony Blair, having the former's well-meaning but slightly beleaguered nature and [the latter's [[TheStarscream ambitious Chancellor.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: a little - when [[spoiler: Agent 13]] uses SHIELD tech to instantly change into a SpyCatsuit, he inwardly notes that if [[DirtyOldMan the Chancellor]] was present, he'd have died a happy man.
* DueToTheDead: once it becomes apparent that his two MI13 bodyguards who stayed behind to buy [[spoiler: Agent 13]] time to get him out are going to die and die horribly, as well as possibly being enslaved by Gravemoss, he asks [[spoiler: Agent 13, formerly undercover as his secretary]] to get him the details of the bodyguards so he can tell their families what they died doing and to ensure that they are honoured, remarking that if what they did isn't going above and beyond the call of duty he doesn't know what is.
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: notes that his blonde secretary [[spoiler: actually Agent 13]] is rather attractive and is happy to use the Chancellor's same interest as blackmail material.
* ManipulativeBastard: willing to use the Chancellor's checking out of his secretary as blackmail material in case the man tries a leadership attempt.
* NiceGuy: he seems pretty nice, mild and totally understandable resentfulness towards being condescended to by Fudge aside, and totally out of his depth in all this superhuman chaos.
* NonActionGuy: he freezes a couple of times when faced by bombings and HYDRA attacks, having to be chivvied along by [[spoiler: Agent 13]] is entirely sensible response to [[spoiler: Agent 13]] and the Red Hood duking it out in the other carriage of the Tube train is to drop flat on the floor.
* [[OurPresidentsAreDifferent Our Prime Ministers Are Different]]: President Personable and President Target - he comes off as a NiceGuy in a completely insane situation, doing his best. That said, his internal dialogue about having noticed how [[TheStarscream the Chancellor]] checks out his secretary's bum [[spoiler: actually an undercover Agent 13]] and filing it away for blackmail the next time the man tries a leadership attempt shows that he isn't soft. Agent, then Director, of [=MI13=], mutant, [[spoiler: wanded wizard]] and protégé of Nick Fury. Like his canon counterpart, he has a tendency to wear suits, smoke and snark.
----
[[hardline]]

* TheAtoner: Pretty much his raison d'etre.
* BadassInANiceSuit: Albeit a somewhat rumpled one. While wearing it, he went toe to toe with [[spoiler: the Winter Soldier]] and survived the experience.
* BadassLongCoat: Occasionally wears one over the suit.
* CompositeCharacter: Of Marvel's Peter Wisdom and [[spoiler: Regulus Black]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler: He used to be Regulus Black, a Death Eater]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Occasionally.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: When he takes control of [=MI13=], he converts abandoned and disused portions of the London Underground into a series of bases to operate out of.
* FamedInStory: Not to any great extent, but he's known and feared.
* FourStarBadass: On his promotion to the Directorship of [=MI13=], fighting on the front lines.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Seems to occupy this position among British intelligence, as no one knows where he comes from and consequently, don't trust him. Chapter 70 reveals that the PM likes him, finding his confidence reassuring.
* GoodIsNotNice: Much like his mentor, Nick Fury, he's grumpy, snarky and ruthless, he won't blink an eye before manipulating a genuinely good person into doing what he wants.
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: Notes to Jackie Falsworth that he picked the habit up from John Constantine.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: He used to be a Death Eater before he realised what they were really like]].
* TheHunter: Used to be this, gaining a reputation. Now he runs an entire organisation of these.
* InterServiceRivalry: M doesn't like or trust him and he seems intent on picking a fight with the Ministry of Magic - specifically, he intends for [=MI13=] to supplant them as chief handlers of the supernatural in Britain.
* ManipulativeBastard: Successfully blackmails Wanda into being his ace in the hole [[spoiler: by threatening to tell her daughter, Hermione, that Wanda is her mother]].
* MysteriousPast: InUniverse very few people know who he used to be, which is why most of his peers don't trust him.
* OverRankedSoldier: Even more than Nick Fury - he becomes Director of [=MI13=] at ''31''. [[JustifiedTrope This, however, is because he's one of the few surviving senior Agents and, as M admits, very good at his job.]]
* PlayingWithFire: His hot knives.
* PreMortemOneLiner: In chapter 71 to a luckless HYDRA Agent, part of a team lured into a trap.
--> I'll let you in on a little secret, sunshine. That intel? It wasn't good.
* ShipTease: With his right hand woman, [[ComicBook/SpiderWoman Jessica Drew]]. Somewhat subverted, though, as his POV section makes reference to his realising that he'd have to pick between dating and having the two of them be separated at work or putting the feelings aside and picking the latter.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: Much like his canon counterpart.
* ThatManIsDead: Hints at this attitude in regard to his past life in chapter 64.
* TrenchCoatBrigade: A card-carrying member of this.
* TheUnfettered: It's heavily implied by his dialogue that limits are for other people.
* UpToEleven: Everything Nick Fury is, he's more.

* BaldOfAwesome: Very bald - though he wasn't always - and very awesome.
* ChromeDomePsi: As usual.
* DeadpanSnarker: Snarks at Sebastian Shaw II and, emphasising the deadpan part, at Jean's belief that there's nothing whatsoever between her and Scott.
* TheFettered: Is devoted to his students and his dream, and has incredible willpower, which helps him prevent himself from becoming another Magneto.
* IAmHavingSoulPains: Thanks to the fact that he was using Cerebro at the time, he's worst hit by the wave of dark magic that Gravemoss unleashes, which puts him into a coma and very nearly kills him.
* KeepingSecretsSucks: Is not happy in the slightest about having to keep Harry and Jean apart [[spoiler: and seems rather relieved when he finally gets to tell Harry]]. Nor does he seem particularly pleased that [[spoiler: he can't tell Tony the truth about his mother]].
* MindOverManners: Is absolutely scrupulous about this and teaches his students to be this way. Judging by Betsy, though, he's aware of the grey areas.
* NiceGuy: The man quite obviously wants to help people in any way he can.
* PsychicPowers: The most powerful [[{{Telepathy}} telepath]] on Earth, though he indicates that Jean will one day take this crown. In the meantime, with the aid of Cerebro and a little guiding from Loki, he managed to get in telepathic contact with Odin.
* SecretKeeper: For more than a few people, but most particularly for the mysterious 'Angel of Cuba'.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Averts this, having managed to help Harry Dresden with his (ironic) pyrophobia and helped Harry work through an issue or two. Ironically, he seems to be the ''only'' therapist, with pretty much everyone directed to him. One of the First Class of X-Men who has since led a peripatetic career as an Intelligence Officer during the Vietnam War, an Interpol Detective and most recently, a teacher and bodyguard for the Hogwarts student body, along with his protégé, Warren Worthington III. Currently looks about thirty despite being well into his sixties. The reasons for this have, as yet, only been alluded.
----
[[hardline]]

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Averts this, despite having more reason to angst.
* AdaptationalBadass: While no slouch to begin with, this version is considerably more dangerous than either his comic or film selves.
* AntiHero: For all that he's a ReasonableAuthorityFigure and a NiceGuy, he is implied to be capable of being spectacularly vicious in his revenge and is more than willing to keep secrets and lie by omission.
** His capacity for viciousness is displayed in chapter 70. It's not pretty.
* TheAntiNihilist: Despite everything he's lost and been through, he remains kind, cheerful and upbeat. However, he isn't entirely unmarked by his experiences, having developed a taste for {{Revenge}} that he has to be careful to control.
* BadassGrandpa: He's over sixty (though he doesn't look it), one of the founding members of the X-Men is a Vietnam veteran and took on the IRA as a detective for Interpol. He was also sounded out by Nick Fury for the Avengers Initiative, picked by Peter Wisdom for his Excalibur squad and regarded by Lucius Malfoy to be a serious threat.
* BadassTeacher: Specifically recruited for his badassery. His teaching (of hand to hand combat) is just to officially justify his presence at Hogwarts.
* BerserkButton: Hurting the innocent or [[BreakTheCutie a character losing their innocence]]. Once it is pressed, he can be relied upon to go on a vicious rampage.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's kindly, friendly and funny, a classic ReasonableAuthorityFigure. However, he's also one of the most dangerous men alive and he does not tolerate people taking liberties in his class - which, being a hand to hand combat class with a fair bit of grappling, is an ever present risk.
* BigBrotherMentor: Expresses regret that he didn't get the chance to be this to his younger cousin, Black Tom, who doesn't seem to be a mutant - though his mutant powers are alluded to when Sean comments that [[GreenThumb he's 'good with plants']].
* BraveScot: Or perhaps Brave Generically Celtic might be more accurate.
* CombatPragmatist: Espouses this philosophy and ruthlessly practises what he preaches.
* CompellingVoice: Part of his power set. He apparently used it on the IRA cell that killed his wife in ways that still give Nick Fury nightmares.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He generally seems to be a fairly happy-go-lucky sort of guy. He's also a Vietnam vet, one of the First Class of the X-Men and considered by Nick Fury, Peter Wisdom and Lucius Malfoy to be very dangerous indeed.
* CrusadingWidower: A surprisingly cheerful, happy go lucky variant. However, it is stated that he's had over a decade to grieve, whatever he did with his CompellingVoice during his RoaringRampageOfRevenge still occasionally gives Nick Fury nightmares and he's got a taste for {{Revenge}}, one that he does his bet to keep a lid on. Also [[BewareTheNiceOnes you]] [[BewareTheNiceOnes ''really'']] [[BewareTheNiceOnes don't want to cross him]].
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Despite his [[TheAntiNihilist almost purposefully cheerful demeanour]], there's more than a few shadows in his past, stemming from his past as a superhero, military intelligence officer in Vietnam and police detective. His wife's death at the hands of the IRA and his resultant RoaringRampageOfRevenge are just the most notable incidents, with chapter 65 revealing that he's dealt with enough child abuse cases to instantly identify both the after effects of abuse and the methodology of a sexual predator.
* FatalFlaw: {{Revenge}}. More implied than stated, but he's hinted that he got a taste for it during his RoaringRampageOfRevenge after his wife's death, though he's fully aware that it's not a good thing and tries to suppress it.
* GlassShatteringSound: He can do this to glass and many other materials by hitting their resonant frequency.
* GoodIsNotSoft: He is a patient and wise ReasonableAuthorityFigure with a good sense of humour and a kind heart. He is also capable of doing things that give Nick Fury recurrent nightmares when he needs to/his BerserkButton has been thoroughly pushed.
* FunetikAksent: Occasionally. How much this applies depends on how much he wants it to, another aspect of his powers being that he's an excellent mimic. After he starts teaching at Hogwarts, he tones it down somewhat. It should also be noted that it gets thicker under stress.
* HotTeacher: Looks about thirty for unrevealed reasons and happens to be very attractive, as most of the school (and not just the girls) notices.
* InterGenerationalFriendship: With Warren, who notes that Sean is old enough to be his grandfather, [[VitriolicBestBuds 'just refuses to have the decency to look it']].
* LivingLieDetector: He can hear someone's heartbeat change.
* MakeMeWannaShout: The most basic application of his powers.
* ManlyTears: [[spoiler: When he finds Luna's body.]]
* ManOfAThousandVoices: He can mimic a voice perfectly and speak in just about any kind of accent that he chooses.
* TheObiWan: To both Warren and Harry and, to a lesser extent, Dane Whitman.
* OccultBlueEyes: Is noted as having remarkable sea blue eyes.
* OlderThanTheyLook: No one's quite sure why he looks about thirty, but it's suggested to be something to do with an island called Krakoa...
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: In-universe example. Part of his powers means [[ManOfAThousandVoices that he can imitate any accent perfectly]] and usually settles on a slightly Irish brogue. It thickens significantly under stress or when he gets angry. [[BewareTheNiceOnes This is is generally a good time to start running.]]
* PietaPlagiarism: [[spoiler: With Luna's dead body]].
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Is remarkably tolerant of Harry's snark, gently pointing out that while he found it funny, not everyone would and that he shouldn't go looking for more trouble (Harry visibly takes this on board) and of Harry's investigating into his painful past. However, you shouldn't push him too far.
* RedHeadedHero: His hair is noted to be true red, not Weasley ginger.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Against the IRA cell that killed his wife. It was, apparently... creative.
* {{Scotireland}}: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by the fact that he's lived in Ireland and Scotland for a considerable portion of his life and, to complicate matters further, is originally Irish-American.
* SecretKeeper: Implied to be this for the Angel of Cuba.
* StealthHiBye: Can pull this off well enough to startle [[NobleWolf Freki and Geri]], thanks to his audiokinesis, which, among other things, allows him to dampen sound around him.
* SuperSenses: Thanks to his powers, he's got enhanced hearing, strong enough to use as sonar.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Warren.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Warren]]

!!Warren Worthington III a.k.a. Archangel

A very handsome Anglo-American mutant in his late teenage years who's estranged from his family. The reasons for this lie in his very beautiful, very deadly metal wings.
----
[[hardline]]

* AbsurdlySharpBlade: His wings.
* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Is very gloomy and miserable, something for which he is gently teased by other characters, but not without reason - his father fed him Hank [=McCoy=]'s mutation suppression serum against the latter's advice when he was a child, causing his previously feathery wings to turn into metal.
* {{Badass}}: For all his moping, he is an absolute terror in a fight, easily on par with canon Archangel, with his entrance to the theatre of combat taking the form of disabling and beheading a zombified dragon in about ten seconds flat.
** He reminds all of his capabilities when he calls Snape an idiot for saying something particularly stupid. He does this right after Sean has verbally eviscerated Snape, meaning that his pride was sore and he went for his wand. He doesn't even get it out of his pocket before Warren has his wing tips at Snape's throat.
** Chapter 70 aptly demonstrates his capabilities when [[spoiler: HYDRA's aerial assault on Hogwarts begins, with paratroops wearing Falcon suits and armed with Destroyer based cannons. Warren, by contrast, has just woken up, in nothing but his pyjama bottoms]]. A MookHorrorShow ensues.
* BerserkButton: He really does not like bullies.
** Nor does he appreciate apparent callous insensitivity to severe trauma - something which probably goes back to how he got his wings.
* BreakTheCutie: He was fairly broken beforehand, but judging by chapter 72, the events of chapter 70 [[HeroicBSOD all but destroyed him.]]
* ByronicHero: Is explicitly described by Dumbledore as 'more Byronic than Byron'.
* CantHaveSexEver: Because of his RazorWings, he's twitchy about even hugging someone. This fear of intimacy is cited as the reason that he broke up with Jean Grey and is a significant contribution to his angst.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He acts like a typical mopey teenager. He's also a OneManArmy SuperSoldier with RazorWings capable of taking down zombie dragons with ease and he will not hesitate to show it if he feels the need.
* CursedWithAwesome: The development of his mutation gave him RazorWings which, while impediments to his social life, allow him to exceed the speed of sound. He also got SuperStrength greater than Captain America - enough to, according to Sean, 'bench press a troll' and equivalent durability (a car running into him would just annoy him), a powerful HealingFactor and SuperSenses.
* TheCynic: Explicitly says that he thinks that cynics are cute and is such as a result of his powers and his family's rejection of him.
* CynicismCatalyst: The development of his wings into RazorWings as a byproduct of his father trying to get rid of his mutation.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Those wings didn't come naturally.
* DeadpanSnarker: Has quite a sharp wit.
* DopeSlap: Belts Sean around the head when he's busy blaming himself for the Pensieve Incident.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Sean comments that past experience would suggest this.
* GreyEyes: Warren epitomises both the original epitome of beauty association due to his PrettyBoy status and the marksmanship association due to his vision, which is specifically noted as being hawk-like and missing nothing. It's suggested that as a child, he also embodied the innocent association, but those days are long gone.
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler: In chapter 72, after brutally killing HYDRA's aerial attack force.]]
* HotTeacher: Though he's more of a teaching assistant.
* HumansAreBastards: Seems to think this.
* KnightInSourArmour: Harry identifies him as this, saying that for all the things he says, at heart he's 'a knight in shining feathers'. Warren finds this faintly amusing but doesn't deny it.
* MaleGaze: has noticed Betsy. As of chapter 68, he's started taking topless flights when she's around.
* PrettyBoy: Is ridiculously good looking, with Harry's first comment towards him being that the girls are going to eat him alive.
* RazorWings: Like the current comics incarnation, he has these without the rest of the Archangel/Death appearance.
* StepfordSnarker: Somewhat. His cynical outlook on life and sense of humour come, in large part, from his wings.
* SuperStrength: Noted as being strong enough to 'bench press a troll' and when he gives Sean a DopeSlap, the narration notes that when he smacks something, it stays smacked.
* ThouShaltNotKill: Part of his absolute terror of accidentally hurting someone with his wings. Monsters, like zombified dragons, are fair game, but humans aren't. [[spoiler: This is why his tearing apart HYDRA's aerial assault leaves him with a HeroicBSOD.]]
* {{Wangst}}: Was considered to be this InUniverse by [=McGonagall=]. Her attitude changes after seeing a demonstration of how sharp his wings really are and finding out that he's had them since he was a child. Others occasionally tease him for his miserable attitude.
* WingedHumanoid: The wings bother him. Not so much because they're wings, but because of what they're made of and the crimp that puts on his life.

[[folder: Betsy]]

!!Lady Elizabeth 'Betsy' Braddock a.k.a. Psylocke

Formerly one of the IdleRich who ReallyGetsAround (as, it is implied, a form of rebellion) and all but pounces on Fandral, she almost instantly answers Peter Wisdom's call to arms, swiftly becoming his right hand woman in the field and one of [=MI13's=] most powerful assets. She also proves to be a kind and effective teacher to Harry and counsellor to Ginny.

----
[[hardline]]

* {{Badass}}: Though having no previously mentioned combat experience, she more than holds her own against the Shadow King (though that last one required her to bluff him into running away) and at the Battle of the M4.
* BattleCouple: With Fandral.
* BirdsOfAFeather: With Fandral.
* BlackSheep: Implies that she's this to her family.
* BlueBlood: A member of the aristocracy.
* CoolBigSis: Takes something of this attitude to Harry and Ginny, the latter in particular, being very happy to gently tease the former.
* DanceBattler: Literally, with Fandral.
* DeadlyUpgrade: Using the Cerebro uplink while exhausted would have been this if the Shadow King hadn't retreated, with Betsy explicitly noting that she'd have been in danger of her mind being destroyed by the strain of such power.
* DyeHard: Her hair is not naturally purple.
* EthicalSlut: Likes sex and doesn't apologise for it, while also being a brave, kind and noble woman.
* FemaleGaze: Fandral and Warren are targets of this.
* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Her Cerebro password is [[PrecisionFStrike 'fuck you']] rendered in the NATO alphabet.
* GoodFeelsGood: Remarks on this in chapter 68, specifically about how teaching and helping other people with their powers feels good.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Quite graceful - if not quite as much as her canon counterpart - and fond of purple.
* HiddenDepths: After she notes Wisdom's psychic bafflers, she doesn't verbally invite him in to test if he's a vampire or some kind of supernatural creature, then drops her ModestyTowel to get an idea of what he's like.
** She also surprises herself by not only being good at teaching, but enjoying it.
* HotTeacher: Once she starts teaching Harry the psychic ropes.
* IdleRich: Seems to have been this before Wisdom recruits her.
* JumpedAtTheCall: While 'jumped' implies a certain degree of enthusiasm she didn't possess, she required very little convincing.
* LadyOfWar: A beautiful, badass member of the aristocracy who uses butterflies as her chief motif.
* MindOverManners: Careful about this, and praises the attitude in Harry, matter of factly stating that telepathy is pretty much the most dangerous power of all and those with it have a responsibility to use it carefully and wisely. That said, she is willing to be more flexible than other characters if the situation requires it.
* MundaneUtility: It's suggested that she uses her abilities to know who'd be amenable to being propositioned and, in battle, to play backing music for her and Fandral's [[DanceBattler 'dance']].
* MySkullRunnethOver: Risked this when she used a remote Cerebro uplink to bluff the Shadow King.
* NiceGirl: Is very sweet to both Harry and Ginny, helping them through their respective problems.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Fandral states that she used her powers so she'd know exactly what he'd like in bed. She also later hints at this to Harry, suggesting that one day he'll be able to use his powers to make some nice girl ''very'' happy.
* PsychicPowers: She's a powerful psychic, one of the strongest on the planet.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Her psychic powers glow purple (and form butterfly patterns on her face) when she uses them.
* ReallyGetsAround: Her friend suggests that she subscribes to the love them and leave them school of relationships. WordOfGod notes that she turned 'a lot more [[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Faith-like]]' than he'd expected.
* ReluctantHero: Zig-Zagged. While she pretty quickly joins [=MI13=], her POV section has her inwardly complaining that fighting monsters is really not her thing.
* SiblingYinYang: Betsy's brother Brian is, according to Albus Dumbledore, a genius, and according to Betsy, noble, compassionate and good-hearted, but equally, is deeply rule abiding, is a little holier than thou and has a large stick up his arse. While Betsy is smart, also compassionate and good hearted (jury's still out on the noble), she's neither rule abiding, holier than thou or possessed of a stick up her arse [[ReallyGetsAround (well. It depends on the kind of stick).]]
* SpoiledSweet: Rich, privileged, brave and heroic.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: WordOfGod says that he hadn't originally intended to introduce her anywhere near as early as he did.
* {{Troll}}: The second time she drops the ModestyTowel in front of Wisdom (the first time being to get his measure since she couldn't read his mind) is just to annoy him.
* TheUnfavourite: Some of her dialogue implies this. Chapter 68 makes it fairly explicit.
* VerbalTic: Calling people 'love'.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Purple, in her case. It's dyed.

[[folder: Dane Whitman]]

!!Sir Dane Whitman a.k.a the Black Knight

The teenage heir to the Black Knight legacy. A spectacularly talented swordsman who is perhaps a tad overconfident and a recruit for Peter Wisdom's Excalibur team.
----

* {{Badass}}: He's overconfident to be sure (until a near death experience knocks it out of him), but he most definitely knows how to fight.
* BlackKnight: A DarkIsNotEvil variant. Or, to be more specific, he's not evil, but his sword is very evil.
* BlackSwordsAreBetter: Though 'more effective' might be [[EvilWeapon a more accurate turn of phrase...]]
* BloodKnight: In battle, thanks to his EvilWeapon.
* CoolSword: Evil, but cool.
* TheChick: To Excalibur, being the youngest and least experienced member.
* EvilWeapon: His sword.
* HormoneAddledTeenager: Trails around after [[HotAmazon Jessica]] [[SpyCatsuit Drew]], to the amusement of his older colleagues.
* KidSamurai: Fits this trope perfectly, and only survives his first battle because of literal divine intervention.
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: A literal example - he asks Michael Carpenter for his autograph. It should be noted that he's injured and high on endorphins at the time.
* MasterSwordsman: Not on Sif or Fandral's level, but he's very good.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Albus Dumbledore]]

!!Professor Albus Dumbledore

The Headmaster of Hogwarts, who has adjusted rather quickly to the altered status quo. A truly brilliant man, and one with many regrets.
----
[[hardline]]

* TheArchMage: A classic example.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Deduces the origins of [[spoiler: the HYDRA magical troops attacking him in chapter 70]] by their casting styles.
* {{Badass}}: Aside from his canon reputation, he mentions taking on groups such as [[OurVampiresAreDifferent the White Court, the Black Court]] (implying that he had something to do with the ending of its more powerful members) and the Hellfire Club. And then, well... it takes a truly colossal set of balls to [[spoiler: stare down the Phoenix Force and ask Her to spare the girl who the Clan Akkaba had summoned Her into before being incinerated for their impertinence. Even though he had no idea what She was, he knew exactly how powerful She was and that She could incinerate him with a stray thought. Yet he still begged for Her to show mercy and out of regard for him, she did so.]] It is implied that this act of courage and nobility impressed [[spoiler: the Phoenix enough - and she was already pretty favourably disposed to him - that She dispatched Fawkes to be Dumbledore's companion]].
** And he does it ''again'' in chapter 71 when he basically tells [[spoiler: the Phoenix]] to cut the bullshit and tell him exactly why she's interested in Harry, knowing full well what she's capable of and that if she wants to wipe him off the face of the Earth, she could do it with a stray thought. And she ''does''. Albus Dumbledore officially gives no fucks.
* BadassGrandpa: The years have far from diminished him, to the point where, in chapter 70, he can [[spoiler: fight off four of HYDRA's best wizards, specifically sent to deal with him, while musing on the bitter irony that he's encouraged muggle and magical co-operation all his life and here it is, and that he's flattered by the fact they felt the need to deploy four wizards solely to defeat him. He also [[AwesomenessByAnalysis notes their capabilities and identifies their backgrounds by their styles]], finding their confidence refreshing and also noting that while they might have caused him 'some slight bother' outside of [[GeniusLoci Hogwarts]], they don't stand a chance.]] Cue CurbstompBattle.
* BeenThereShapedHistory: In a subtle way, one that possibly even he isn't aware of: he fought alongside Captain America and the Howling Commandos against Grindelwald and HYDRA, Charles Xavier mentions him as something of a mentor in the art of teaching of young superhumans and [[spoiler: his entreaty of the Phoenix for mercy eventually led to the birth of Piotr and Ilyana Rasputin, a.k.a. Colossus and Magik]].
* BigGood: For the Wizarding World.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Surprisingly enough, with Sean Cassidy - both are powerful [[TheObiWan mentor]] [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure figures]], each with a DarkAndTroubledPast that they remain cheerful because/in spite of, a FatalFlaw that they are careful to control, a bucket load of regrets, a somewhat damaged protégé who is afraid of using his full power and they are both absolutely terrifying when their respective {{Berserk Button}}s are pushed. It is perhaps because of this that they get on rather well.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Like his canon counterpart, though somewhat toned down by the seriousness of the situation.
* CoolOldGuy: Whether you like him or not, you can't deny, he's got style.
* CurbStompBattle: Hands one out almost absent-mindedly in chapter 70 to [[spoiler: four HYDRA wizards who had specifically targeted him]].
* FatalFlaw: {{Pride}}, which is part of the reason that he keeps himself far away from political power.
* TheFettered: Has made himself this because he's perfectly aware of what he could become.
* TheLeader: When he speaks, people listen. When he commands, people obey. He has all the qualities that mark a great leader, which is noted approvingly by Sean Cassidy.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: with Sean Cassidy.
* LongLived: Well over a century old.
* MagnificentBastard: Not one of the more notable ones, but he's very capable indeed.
* MotiveRant: Gives a bitter one in chapter 46 which he illustrates to Thor exactly why he is very careful to confine himself to the position of Headmaster and his frustrations with the MedievalStasis of the Wizarding World which is discreetly enforced by the Ministry.
* NervesOfSteel: Is completely unfazed by Loki's not so veiled threat that if his schemes lead to Thor or Harry being hurt, there will be a reckoning.
** Takes it UpToEleven during his encounters with [[spoiler: the Phoenix]], on the second occasion demanding (quite politely, but still demanding) that she cut the bullshit, despite knowing that she could atomise him with an idle thought.
* TheObiWan: A bit less than his canon counterpart, since Harry has plenty of other mentor figures, but still present.
* PassiveAggressiveKombat: Quite enjoys employing this against Cornelius Fudge.
* PsychicPowers: He is a powerful Legilimens.
* SelfDeprecation: Freely admits his limitations.
* {{Troll}}: As noted under PassiveAggressiveKombat, he particularly enjoys screwing with Fudge, even considering hiring [[TheDreaded Harry Dresden]] simply to mess with the man. He's also happy to mess with Thor.
* TheSpymaster: It's hinted that he has sources in the non-magical intelligence agencies, judging by how well he knows their inner workings.
* SuperIntelligence: Perhaps not quite superhuman, but he is genuinely brilliant, being a leading scholar in a number of magical fields, with a working knowledge of cutting edge muggle science.

[[folder: Michael Carpenter]]

!!Sir Michael Carpenter

A Knight of the Cross and wielder of ''Amoracchius'', the Sword of Love, better known as Excalibur. A carpenter in his day job and devoted family man, he's a devout Catholic (but not a dogmatist) and a KnightInShiningArmour.
----

* ActionDad: Father of a large family/small clan.
* {{Badass}}: There is a reason that Harry Dresden calls him 'the Fist of God'.
* BadassCape: Wears a white one, embroidered with a red cross.
* BigDamnHeroes: Arrives in the nick of time to save Dane Whitman.
* TheCape: He even wears one. It is suitably [[BadassCape badass]].
* ChurchMilitant: A nice version.
* CoolSword: The archetypal example: it's freaking ''Excalibur''.
* CurbstompBattle: Takes on the undead warrior that beat Dane to a pulp and destroys it in three moves.
* FlamingSword: ''Amoracchius'' burns with white flames.
* GoodIsNotSoft: He is kindly, friendly and forgiving. He'll give even undead abominations a chance to surrender (though in this context, it just means die quickly). However, if you face him on the battlefield and turn down his offer of your own free will, he will give no quarter.
* KnightInShiningArmour: A very literal example.
* ManInWhite: His cloak and surcoat are broadly white.
* OneManArmy: As part of the StrongAsTheyNeedToBe thing the Knights have.
* OneSceneWonder: Only appears in one scene in chapter 44, but it's enough to make quite the impression.
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: "In the name of Almighty God, step away from that boy."
* RedBaron: He's also known as 'the Fist of God'.
* StrongAsTheyNeedToBe: A total badass by himself, but like the other knights, he gets stronger in proportion to the threat faced.

[[folder: M]]

Head of MI6, one of the few survivors of Gravemoss' attack on its headquarters. Currently tracking down the 'mysterious force' that discouraged investigation of the Dursley family and messed with Mrs Figg's mind to keep the extent of Harry's mistreatment secret.
----
[[hardline]]

* CoolOldLady: Is more than a match for Nick Fury, who quite comfortably dominates a room full of his fellow intelligence chiefs.
* GoodIsNotNice: Cold, sharp and not the sort to suffer fools. Also verbally twists the knife a little during her interrogation of Petunia.
* IronLady: Is tough as nails.
* MyCountryRightOrWrong: Suggested to hold this attitude, with the thing that infuriates her the most about Harry's abuse by the Dursleys after the abuse itself is the damage it did to Britain's reputation.
* ReasonYouSuckSpeech: Delivers a short and brutal one to Petunia.
* TheUnsolvedMystery: Digs into one of these - though 'uninvestigated' might be a better way to put it - at Fury's request. Complies because, as she puts it, she has little better to do.

[[hardline]]

* AngerBornOfWorry: A mild variant is seen when she scolds Scott for slipping on the stairs. She'd probably have been considerably angrier if she knew he'd been [[DistractedByTheSexy distracted by her butt]].
* BigSisterInstinct: [[spoiler: Harry suggests that when they met, she protected him from Dudley.]]
* CoolBigSis: Described in an A/N as basically being this to the world.
* FieryRedhead: While this hasn't been seen, she has an explosive temper. [[spoiler: It's noted as being InTheBlood and shared by Harry and Lily]].
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Seems to be this, judging by the way that Dresden notes she spoiled his dog, Mouse.
* IHaveBoobsYouMustObey: Dresden implies that Jean could probably make most young men do what she wanted without recourse to her psychic powers because of this, something that goes double for Scott because of his [[AllLoveIsUnrequited unrequited love for her.]]
* InTheBlood: Red hair and green eyes run in the family. [[spoiler: So do psychic powers, it seems, with Harry inheriting them from his mother, whose aunt was Jean's grandmother. Sean mentally notes that she and Harry also seem to share a taste for revenge]].
* JustFriends: States this of herself and the hopelessly devoted Scott.
* MindOverMatter: One of her powers. [[MundaneUtility She uses it for carrying luggage]].
* MySignificanceSenseIsTingling: [[spoiler: Senses Harry being possessed by the Phoenix, which briefly reacts with her own connection to it.]]
* NiceGirl: Everyone who knows her (except Warren, her ex-boyfriend), mentions her as this, and her brief appearance suggests that it's true.
* ObliviousToLove: Her appearance makes it extremely obvious that she doesn't have the faintest idea how badly Scott is in love with her. Xavier wonders how it's even possible for a girl who is both very smart and on-course to be the most powerful psychic on Earth can miss something so obvious.
* PsychicPowers: Practically the poster child for them and on course to, eventually, be the most powerful psychic on Earth. Her psychic outburst of distress at the age of ''six'' was felt all around the world.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedHead: As per usual, and for many of the same reasons.
* {{Telepathy}}: Another of her powers.
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: Lucius Malfoy is visibly shocked by how much she looks like [[spoiler: Lily Potter. Later subverted, as while there's a definite resemblance, Lucius never really knew Lily all that well and overstated the resemblance. Sean, meanwhile, is loudly shocked when he sees Harry's eyes, which look exactly like Lily's and by extension, Jean's.]]

The teenage heir to Wayne Enterprises and fearsomely intelligent apprentice to Harry Dresden. While he has no magic of his own, his intellect, gift for investigation and knowledge of magical theory more than make up for it. WordOfGod claims that he isn't going to be Batman, a trait that has been treated with scepticism.
----
[[hardline]]

* TheAce: He's a highly skilled hand to hand combatant, extremely talented investigator and expert on magical theory.
* AmazonChaser: In terms of his crush on Murphy, his terrifying tiny martial arts teacher, one respect in which he is very like his canon counterpart.
* {{Badass}}: [[spoiler: Bisects the Mabdhara by ramming it with the Tumbler and firing the demolition charges.]]
** BadassNormal: Doesn't have any powers. And as far as he's concerned, he doesn't need them either.
* CarFu: [[spoiler: Deploys the Tumbler to excellent effect.]]
* DeadpanSnarker: Usually at Dresden's expense.
* HotForTeacher: Dresden observes that he's got a crush on [[PintSizedPowerHouse Karrin Murphy]], his martial arts teacher.
* InHarmsWay: Seems to like putting himself in this, partly because he's an adrenaline junkie, partly, as Wanda observes, because he doesn't really know how bad it can get and thinks its a grand adventure and partly, it is implied, as marker of the KnightErrant that he will become.
* LighterAndSofter: Is considerably more sane than his canon counterpart due to the fact that his parents, thanks to Harry Dresden, are alive. Because of this, WordOfGod has insisted (somewhat unconvincingly) that he isn't going to be Batman.
* SarcasticDevotee: To Dresden, though it is shown that he always listens to Dresden when it matters and wants his approval.
* TallDarkAndHandsome: Getting this way.
* TeenGenius: Invented a method for shielding technology from magical disruption, something previously only achieved by SHIELD and Tony Stark. Admittedly, it took him years and Stark about 15 minutes, but it's still really impressive.

[[hardline]]

* AntagonisticOffspring: Wanda really does not like him and is sceptical of his HeelFaceTurn, having apparently gone up against him.
* ArchEnemy: His chief sparring partner was [[spoiler: Alan Scott a.k.a. the Green Lantern]].
* {{Badass}}: His achievements include:
** Purging three successive Inner Circles of [[AncientConspiracy the Hellfire Club]], the third one (after the deaths of Howard and Maria Stark, Howard being one of the few humans Erik ever considered to be a friend) being most thorough, according to Xavier. Sean Cassidy later described his own anger, though considerable, to be a firecracker next to the atom bomb of Erik's rage.
** Working as a NaziHunter for over four decades.
** Fighting Lord Voldemort when they were both young and forcing him to flee.
* BadassFamily: His daughter is Wanda Maximoff and his son, Pietro a.k.a. Quicksilver, has also been alluded to (according to Wanda, he's her teenage half brother and a brat). Also, there's [[spoiler: Hermione, Wanda's daughter]].
* DisappearedDad: Honestly believed that Wanda was dead. [[spoiler: May not even have realised that Lorna existed.]]
* TheDreaded: Almost everyone on the Dark Side from Sebastian Shaw II to HYDRA (yes, all of it), to Narcissa Malfoy fear him. Even Loki and Nick Fury speak about him with respect, the latter saying that "HYDRA wouldn't cross him. They wouldn't ''dare.''"
* TheGhost: By chapter 72, there's only been a teeny tiny indirect hint of his on-screen presence.
* HeelRealisation / HeelFaceTurn: Had one of these/pulled one of these some time in the late eighties/early nineties after he realised how far he'd fallen.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: He is commonly cited as an example how a good person fighting evil can go bad, though he has reportedly mellowed in recent years - something [[AntagonisticOffspring Wanda]] treats with scepticism.
* MagnetismManipulation: His main power.
* NaziHunter: A truly effective and prolific one, and according to Moody, didn't merely restrict himself to mundane Nazis.
* PersonOfMassDestruction
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Wants to protect mutants from humans who would exploit them and doesn't believe that mutants and humans can live in peace. These days, however, he's more interested in separatism than domination.

* TheGhost: Has appeared on-screen several times... probably. It's quite hard to separate her from [[spoiler: her protection on Harry and the shade of Lily Potter.]] The only definitive examples are chapters 56, 58 and 71.
