In ''Extra Story -if-'', he serves as the MysteriousProtector "Mask, the Dark" to the Blaster Pair, wearing a PaperThinDisguise. In truth, along with Ibuki and Suiko, he's one of the only people aware of the original timeline, and works with them hoping to save Aichi from Sanctuary.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: This version of Ren lacks the MightMakesRight mindset of his original series counterpart and is less of a {{Jerkass}} as shown when he doesn't kick Asaka from [=AL4=] after her loss against Misaki.

His uses the Shadow Paladin clan, with his avatar being Blaster Dark. His strategy revolves around calling rearguards before sacrificing them to use the skill of his Phantom Blaster Dragon while also forcing his opponent to retire their own rearguards. In the High School arc, he upgrades his deck by adding Gust Blaster Dragon as an alternative to Phantom Blaster and including more units with low power or capable of calling units with low power. During the Vanguard Koshien, Ren's deck is now focused around Blaster Dark, supporting it through the addition of the Revenger units, including his new ace Mordred Phantom.

* AffablyEvil: For the leader of a gang of {{Jerkass}} cardfighters, he's fairly cordial to everyone he meets, including the people of the shops his group is trying to invade.

** His original goal was to create a world where things are not decided with Vanguard and now he is in one (the If World), but he desperately wants to get out of that world and return everything back to normal.

A shy middle school student. He was given the Blaster Blade card by Kai after the latter ran into him after he had been bullied. Years later, this same card being stolen led him to Card Capital where he met with Kai again. In the Highschool arc, he is now a student at Miyaji Academy and seeks to establish a Cardfight Club.

An aloof high school student known as the Solitary Fighter. He met Aichi in the past and was the one who gave him the Blaster Blade card.

A high school student who works as a clerk at Card Capital. She is the cousin of the shop's current manager and the daughter of its original owner. Initially disinterested in Vanguard, her attitude changes after seeing Aichi's fight with Kai.

A grade schooler who went to Card Capital in order to challenge the strongest fighter in the shop. He was a former regular at Cardshop Voyage and acquainted with the Daimonji siblings. He has a crush on Emi, Aichi's sister and refers to the latter as a big brother.

A first-year student at Miyaji Academy who is regarded as a delinquent by other students for his appearance and demeanor. When he was a child he saw Aichi being bullied by other kids, but didn't act. Meeting with him again when the latter returns to Miyaji Academy causes his attitude to start changing and leads him to be the second person to join the Cardfight Club.

A member of the idol trio ULTRARARE, Kourin is also a high school student at Miyaji Academy. She is the first person to join Aichi's Cardfight Club, although her reasons for doing so are known only to her.

Another first-year student at Miyaji Academy and a classmate of Aichi, Kourin and Naoki. He is a longtime player of vanguard but couldn't find anyone to play with at Miyaji until Aichi, his idol, started attending the school. He is the third person to join the Cardfight Club.

A childhood friend of Kai. The two parted ways but eventually reunited in high school. An energetic individual, his skills as a cardfighter shouldn't be underestimated.

The current Manager of Card Capital who is also Misaki's cousin or uncle?

A regular of Card Capital and its self proclaimed strongest fighter. He bullied Aichi at school and stole his Blaster Blade card. After being called out on no longer going to Card Capital, Aichi confronts him and [[DefeatMeansFriendship becomes his friend]], making him start going there again as he becomes a better person.

A regular at Card Capital and a member of the CF Research Club of Hitsue. He's friends with Morikawa and Inenaga.

The current runner-up of the Asia Circuit who managed to get Cardshop Voyage on the map. He's a very bombastic and loud man who cares and dotes on his little sister Nagisa a lot.

The little sister of Gouki Daimonji and the one who created and named Team [=Nwo=]. She is harsh against Kamui at first and criticized him for leaving Voyage and becoming a regular at Card Capital instead. She later falls in love with Kamui after he defeats her brother and tries to get him to marry her.

A young man who can kinda be odd at times and makes mistakes such as getting the time or place wrong. Despite this he's a strong cardfighter who managed to rank third at the Asia Circuit

A twelve-years old cardfighter and the current champion of the Asia Circuit. He often speaks of the wind and appears to have a mysterious ability. He agrees to be one of the four members of Team [=NwO=] and appears to be interested in Aichi.

The young head of the Tatsunagi Foundation. He also serves as the current Concert Master, a role the Tatsunagi family has taken on for years.

A third year at Tokyo Metropolitan Harumi High School, and is teammates with two notable world-class fighters Kenji Mitsusada and Gouki Daimonji. He gives Kai a copy of Dragonic Overlord the End and helps him in dealing with the effects of Delete.

The leader of both Team [=AL4=] and the Foo Fighters as a whole. He is a former acquaintance of Kai, having both attended the same middle school.

A member of Team [=AL4=] and Ren's second-in-command. He, like Ren, knew Kai back when the latter was part of Foo Fighters. He is the creator of the [=VF=] Gloves used by the members of Foo Fighters.

The third member of Team [=AL4=] who has a crush on Ren. She comes to Card Capital after learning that Kai was there and confronts Miwa and Misaki in cardfights.

A young cardfighter who is the fourth member of Team [=AL4=]. He was the one who took over Kamui's old shop and the former seeks payback against him for that.

A member of Foo Fighter who went to Card Capital to take over the shop.

A member of Foo Fighters stationed at one of the shops Aichi, Kamui and Kyou visit during their "Foo Fighter Hunt". Which clan he uses in this continuity is unknown.

A member of [=SL3=], the second strongest group of fighters within Foo Fighters, below only [=AL4=]. Aichi, Kamui and Kyou meet him at cardshop [=GBH=] where Kyou has him fight Aichi in order to test the latter's [=PSYqualia=].

Another member of [=SL3=]. He is encountered by Aichi, Kamui and Kyou at the Card Heroes shop. He plays a Murakumo deck, featuring Covert Demonic Dragon, Mandala Lord.

A student at Fukuhara High School. Despite being a skilled Vanguard fighter, he refuses to join the school's club, claiming he hates Vanguard. He is also a childhood friend of Kai and Miwa and the one who taught them how to play Vanguard in the first place.

An entity who introduces themselves as "the one who commands fate". They took of control of Takuto's body following the latter's loss to Ibuki. They seek to control Vanguard fighters by turning them into [=PSYqualia=] zombies but their motive for doing so is currently unknown.

* EvilAlbino: Downplayed in this series. His hair is more gray like the Neon Messiah movie, rather than his white hair in the G anime. In addition, unlike the Neon Messiah movie where he was the main antagonist and the UnwittingPawn of Oksizz, here he's a third party thats less evil and more simply a {{jerkass}} aiming to destroy the game itself.
