There are maybe one or two Climax Bosses in any given game. In a game that has 17 chapters (counting the prologue and epilogue), four is too many.

* ClimaxBoss: Not as much as Balder, but the fights against each of them is a chapter in and of itself.

Added DiffLines:

* ClimaxBoss: He's the last of the four Cardinal Virtues to be fought.

* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: In ''2'', Luka aids Bayonetta by leaving [[FlavorText pages of his notebook]] around Noatun in the hopes that she'll find them useful. They don't turn out to be very vital to the plot, but that doesn't change the fact that some of them are left in [[IntrepidReporter places that are damn near impossible for an ordinary human to reach]], and the player usually ends up forced to carve a path through baddies of all kinds to reach those pages. This means that Luka either survived those very same monsters just to help Bayonetta in her quest, [[ButtMonkey or they just didn't think he was worth killing]].

Climax Boss by definition cannot be a Final Boss or close to one. It has to be roughly 2/3 to 3/4 through the game and designed to wrap up a major plot but not the entire story.

* ClimaxBoss: In more ways than one. He meets all the criteria of the trope in the sense that he is fought after a hefty heaping of plot-twisting exposition, and the fight itself is overwhelmingly dramatic in every sense of the word -- you're falling off the top of an impossibly high tower, headbutting skyscrapers at him and playing catch with a satellite. You have to hammer him with no less than three Climax attacks (where just ''one'' suffices against building-sized archangels) before he finally suffers a CriticalExistenceFailure. He can also be fought on Non-Stop Infinite Climax difficulty, while wearing the Climax bracelet. Needless to say, like everything else, this game takes the trope UpToEleven.

* ClimaxBoss: [[spoiler:A standout example in the history of HackAndSlash video games.]]

* ShowyInvincibleHero: From a story perspective, it takes a Lumen Sage to even inconvenience her. The first game's cutscenes have Bayonetta trashing everything from Affinities straight up to the Cardinal Virtues; even Jeanne's fights only leave her out of breath, and Balder is the first enemy that actually gives her trouble. Less prominent, in the second game; aside from Gomorrah's betrayal catching her off-guard, Infernals don't give her much more trouble than the angels do, but the Masked Lumen and [[spoiler:Loptr]] have much more frequent clashes with her.
