Michael was originally mistaken to be the Prince of Darkness by Heaven, feeding into his animosity for Lucifer, though with Lucifer's rebellion the truth was discovered - Michael is the Prince of Light. He is generally a very volatile and impulsive person, who enjoys fighting anyone he perceives to be a powerful opponent, as shown when he tracked down and violently fought Setsuna. Despite Setsuna having another brush with death when Michael captured him and questioned him regarding his knowledge of [[spoiler: Kira]] Lucifer, Michael ultimately teams up with his group [[spoiler: to confront and eventually defeat God. He uses his power of fire, along with Uriel's power of earth and Kurai's water and air dragons, to seal up Adam Kadamon, cutting off God's source of power in the end]].

Hot-headed, to say the least. He's one of the shortest characters in the whole story, but he'll beat up anybody who mentions his height, and especially his brother Lucifer. To be fair, his stature is due in large part to his power developing too rapidly, thus stunting his physical growth. It is also understandable that Lucifer would be a touchy subject for him, considering Lucifer's rebellion [[spoiler: and the resulting death of their caretaker and close friend Bal, during Michael's attempt to strike at his brother]].
