* In ''Film/{{The Birth of a Nation|1915}}'', white girl Flora Cameron throws herself off a cliff to escape being raped by a former slave. Yes, [[UnfortunateImplications it's racist as all get-out]]. Yes, [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birth_of_a_Nation it's a film sponsored by the Klan]]. But it's considered a classic because it was one of the first films to incorporate major dramatic themes with cinematographic style, which tend to be taken for granted today. Pity about the ValuesDissonance.

* During the hostage exchange in ''Film/LethalWeapon'', Roger Murtaugh takes a grenade from his pocket and says he'll blow them all up if his daughter isn't released first.

* ''Film/FullMetalJacket'': Private Leonard "Gomer Pyle" Lawrence shoots Sgt. Hartman, his drill instructor to death before he turns the gun on himself and literally blows his brains out. Had he survived, he would have been court-martialed, sent away to a psychiatric hospital, or dishonorably discharged.

* In ''Film/TheKiller'', Ah Jong is an assassin that always saves the last bullet in his gun, either for himself or for his enemy. This is a code all assassins in this film stick to, including his handler Fung Sei (who unfortunately didn't keep the last bullet for himself and ultimately has to have the title character end his life for him).

* ''Film/{{Downfall}}'': The cast have to try and find ways to deal with the downfall of the Third Reich. Their options are: 1) throwing themselves at the mercy of the advancing Red Army, 2) trying to run the gauntlet to seek out some isolated Nazi-friendly corner of the world where they can hide, or 3) taking their own lives. Seeing as Option #3 at least gives them the choice of method, many people settle on that one.

* ''Film/Aquaman2018'': Jesse Kane is pinned under debris in a sinking submarine that [[DrowningPit is filling with water. When his son David is not strong enough to save him, he kills himself with a grenade so that he doesn't experience a much more painful death by drowning.

* ''Cosmic Sin'' (2021). During a battle between [[TheVirus alien-assimilated humans]] and soldiers, the commander finds a hysterical female soldier who insists that she's been infected. He tells her to PullYourselfTogether and hands her a pistol to fight the aliens, which she instead uses to [[RemovingTheHeadOrDestroyingTheBrain blow her brains out]].

* ''Film/GreenForDanger'': After being exposed as the murderer, [[spoiler:Esther Sanson]] secretly swallows the four poison pills stolen when Bates was killed, and expires before Inspector Cockrill can arrest her.

* In ''Film/HappyDeathDay2U'', Tree is stuck in a GroundhogDayLoop which loops by the end of the day by her getting killed as she's being hunted by a masked killer. She eventually enlists the help of some college eggheads who try to work on how to fix the time looping while she can act as a living record of all their previous work. She is not at all looking forward to being killed again and again, so she decides to kill herself rather than wait for the killer to do it in order to force the loop to reset. As the movie is a comedy, [[SuicideAsComedy so are her suicides]] -- [[ElectrifiedBathtub sitting in a full bathtub and dropping a hairdryer inside]] (leading to her waking up the next loop with ridiculous hair, as [[ContinuingIsPainful she carries scars from how she died]] in the previous loop over to the next one), giving a toast to some random shopper in a supermarket before downing a whole bottle of drain cleaner, going skydiving with nothing but her underwear and socks and landing right in front of two people she is ''very '' unhappy are together, jumping headfirst into a woodchipper run by [[Pun Biff's Tree Removal]] while wearing 80's style running gear, and falling down the interior of a clock tower.
