* In Creator/HarryTurtledove's ''Literature/ShetlDays'' ([[https://www.tor.com/2011/04/14/shtetl-days/ here]]), a group of actors spend their days portraying the inhabitants of a small Jewish community, for the entertainment of citizens of a triumphant 21st-century Third Reich. All of the Jews who actually lived in the region have long since been slain. [[spoiler: But the entire group of actors, unbeknownst to the Reich, have begun adopting Jewish customs, attitudes, and beliefs in their own lives, and think of themselves as heirs to the Jewish tradition.]]

* ''Literature/TheWitchOfKnightcharm'': Lorelei [=McKenna=] was once a good witch who joined the evil Myth/{{Scholomance}} just to infiltrate, undermine, and destroy it. Unlike the protagonist Emily, though, Lorelei failed to resist the school's corruption and now does whatever the Scholomance asks 'to maintain her cover.' Even though she still insists that she's totally on the side of good and will destroy the Scholomance at the right time, for all intents and purposes she's just another villainous witch who does horrible things at the Scholomance's behest.
