This page needs an explanation for why these tracks are commented out to prevent an unwary editor from uncommenting them without expanding them.

Added DiffLines:

%%The above entries have been commented out for being zero-context. Do not uncomment them without expanding them to explain why these tracks are awesome. A video link is not context, and neither is an adjective or two with no further explanation. WHY are they awesome?

Moving over from Hans Zimmer's Awesome Music page since there's plenty of examples.

[[redirect:AwesomeMusic/HansZimmer]]Music/HansZimmer helped crafted much of the tracks that sets the tone of ''Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean'', contributing to the first film that was scored by Klaus Badelt, who was his protege.
----
* "[[https://youtu.be/s17XDrKuqc4 He's a Pirate]]" that serves as the leitmotif of the entire franchise.
** The [[https://youtu.be/JHHcRetNLFc Mario Paint version]] is pretty cool.
** What could be better than "He's a Pirate" on its own? [[https://youtu.be/dnbve26vsYI He's a Pirate plus epic guitar]].
** There is also a really good [[https://youtu.be/Wm22Yi942cc techno remix]] of it by DJ Tiesto.
** [[https://youtu.be/UawzJOtfuPI BobGmbHs impossible remix of the song]] goes from a simple piano cover to a batshit insane remix to an epic orchestral cover.
* [[https://youtu.be/8TTUBMTInVE Jack Sparrow's Intro Theme, "The Medallion Calls"]], first scored by Klaus Badelt. That one theme, with the [[IncomingHam character intro]] and TheReveal, made the ''[[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome whole movie]]'' for the first-time viewer. It's also the bridge melody in "He's a Pirate."
* [[https://youtu.be/Fur86y7dQJ4 Davy Jones' Theme]], which he [[https://youtu.be/L0JbaZtoKAs plays himself]] [[OminousPipeOrgan on the organ]].
* Other notable tracks include the Bach-esque "[[https://youtu.be/eN5ExwsXUiQ The Kraken]]", particularly the moment where the leviathan smashes the ''Edinburgh Trader'' clean in two; and the love/adventure theme from ''At World's End'', presented up-tempo in "[[https://youtu.be/7pmXLjtSEHQ Up Is Down]], and more sedately in "[[https://youtu.be/vKiXAdwJLpk One Day]]."
* "[[https://youtu.be/IRSd8faHNhE (Captain!) Jack Sparrow]]" has an especially fitting theme in part 2: alternatively tense and sedate, somewhat ambiguous, and slightly drunk.
* "[[https://youtu.be/unwK1X_TGsc Two Hornpipes (Tortuga)]]" is a bouncy, catchy number that's perfect for a brawl in Tortuga.
* "[[https://youtu.be/JAxQ6n9dgUE At Wit's End,]]" an epic song when the crew of the Black Pearl undertake the journey to save Jack Sparrow. There is also a heartbreaking and dramatic rendition for Davy Jones theme as he is forced to destroy other pirate vessels under command of Lord Beckett.
* [[https://youtu.be/F5J9ATDOqJM "Hoist the Colors."]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3Gd6yMZMDA What shall we die for]] takes "Hoist the Colors" and catapults it into [[OminousLatinChanting Ominous English Chanting]] levels of awesome.
* Finally, a small but beautiful motif from the "parasail" scene in ''At World's End'': [[https://youtu.be/xKx611dyQHk#t=2m37s Here at 2:37]] from the "Marry Me" suite which sadly hasn't seen nearly enough of the light of day. It was a crime to leave it off the soundtrack...
** [[TearJerker "Part of the Ship...]] [[http://youtu.be/qDJl-GohC74?t=3m10s Part of the Crew..."]]
** Will and Elizabeth's theme. Just... God ''damn'', Will and Elizabeth's theme is just heart-swelling. Anakin and Padmé have got nothing on these two. That theme alone could play on loop for several hours and the soundtrack would still be awesome.
** Also in the grand finale of [[https://youtu.be/cScVoZWVDLQ#t=1m30s "One Day"]]. First heard on the voyage to World's End, and then completed with TheBigDamnKiss, it's basically the unifying song of the third movie.
** Sadly, the [[https://youtu.be/xKx611dyQHk#t=0m50s music from the climactic scene]] ("Part of the Ship"/"Hold On") is only used once in ''World's End'', and not in any other track. Zimmer said he had come up with a musical cue so good, he kicked himself for using it in an existing work.
* The wonderful Morricone homage "Parley" from the ''[[Film/PiratesOfTheCaribbeanAtWorldsEnd At World's End]]'' Soundtrack.
* And the background score for the Battle of the Maelstrom (track listing; 'I Don't Think Now Is the Best Time') is a SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome all by itself. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has a darker, alternative tribute version on their ''Best of Hans Zimmer'' album.
%%** [[https://youtu.be/9SIx1s750Ak Blackbeard's]] theme from ''On Stranger Tides''.
%%** The haunting and unsettling [[https://youtu.be/yCyj0Or4Fw4 Mermaid's]] theme.
%%** [[https://youtu.be/PXEhL3mZkrY The Spanish Theme.]]

Hans Zimmer already has his own page.

* Special mention goes to the main theme, Davy Jones' theme, both the organ and music box versions, and the love theme for Will and Elizabeth in ''At World's End'', which becomes the backbone for the entire score of the movie...Then again, it is ''Hans Zimmer's'' work.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuKx7AgHLes Hoist the Colours!]]
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN5ExwsXUiQ The Kraken!]]
* The track [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzCxOAtiAtg "Parlay"]] is an homage to Sergio Leone's "Man With A Harmonica". Barbossa, Jack, and Elizabeth are walking down a sandbar to parlay with Beckett, Davy Jones, and Will... and then the electric guitar slashes in. Truly one of the best moments, at least in terms of cinematography, in the entire trilogy.
** According to Zimmer, this isn't even a guitar but the orchestra put through a guitar amp.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j1Qs25iJO0 Tia Dalma]], a less epic but very atmospheric track.
* Subverted hilariously in ''On Stranger Tides''.
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2nMwMOUIos What Shall We Die For]]
* [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkYko5OCnA4 Drink Up Me Hearties]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRh-dzrI4Z4 He's A Pirate]]. This one really deserves the crown for being featured as the battle theme for Port Royal in KingdomHeartsII.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv6pJ2D_Sek Up Is Down]].
