*** He was upstaged by his own car in Tomorrow Never Dies though. Even if he was driving it by remote control ...

** Wai Lin, the kung fu BadAss chick from Tomorrow Never Dies gets a moment where a bunch of Mooks follow her to her safehouse... and she wipes the floor with them. Enhanced immediately afterwards, when Bond is making a minor idiot of himself setting off her disguised gadgets by accident, a recovering Mook gets up behind him -- and Wai Lin nonchalantly KO's him with a spring-loaded baby carriage. Awesome.

** Despite having the most overblown movies, Moore managed to dress in a clown suit in Octopussy, say "I am deadly serious," and actually make us believe it. The fact that he was trying to stop a nuclear bomb was likely helping that.

** orchestrating an assault on the BigBad's palace involving a hot-air balloon and several dozen bikini-clad jewel-thief circus contortionists (Octopussy),

*** Arguably topped by this scene in Octopussy
-->Bond: "You can't be inviting a nuclear war. What happens when the US retaliates?"
-->General Orlov: "Against whom?"

*** Also, kicking a car with assassin trapped inside over the edge of the cliff in ForYourEyesOnly. This moment stands out, in that Bond kills somebody in cold blood. It is one of the most serious moments in a Bond film ever. It is done by Roger Moore, famous for doing a more humorous Bond. Here he is dead serious, no BondOneLiner or anything. He just kicks it in silence.

** Melina Havelock pulling off a successful cross-bow shot against a guy diving into a swimming pool in ForYourEyesOnly.

* The opening scene of ForYourEyesOnly, where Bond finally gets rid of Blofeld by dropping him down a factory smokestack.

However, the camera reveals sitting on the front-end of the engine, bellowing a deep booming laugh. *** Also, the nerve-shredding safecracking sequence. It's BadAss to begin with, but gets elevated to awesome status when Bond not only swipes the documents he was looking for, but also steals the poor guy's stash of Playboys.
*** Bond's big fight with Blofeld atop a speeding dogsled was pretty damn awesome. Lazenby doesn't get as much love as he should.

** And picking just one moment for Fallen Princesses Tracy and Elektra? Cannot be done. For added fun, multiply Elektra's awesome quotient by ten simply for being more awesome than Christmas Jones. And for Elektra, she slapped JamesBond after he () diagnosed her as having StockholmSyndrome.

*** Tracy's true moment of awesome is during the car chase scene. For the entire sequence, racing along icy mountain roads with a car load of mooks shooting at her, then ending up in a race/demolition derby with cars flying all over the place...and people still shooting at her, she's got an expression on her face that she's having the time of her life.
**** The best bit of that car chase is when one car makes a 180 degree flip...and the driver makes a slightly annoyed expression at Bond and Tracy.
***** "Thy dawn, O Master of the World, thy dawn …" Nope. Tracy quoting James Ellroy Flecker to distract Blofeld's attention from Draco's fast-approaching helicopters is her TRUE Moment Of Awesome. ** Connery using his wits to defeat Oddjob in Goldfinger, rather than brute force.
*** Blow that, Oddjob himself is a complete CrowningMomentOfAwesome. And Connery hardly uses his wits until that final, desperate improvisation. What really makes it so awesome is that Connery's Bond is clearly scared shitless by Oddjob's apparent invulnerability, every blow proceeding through fists to wooden clubs to freakin' bars of solid gold doing nothing. It's rare to see Bond scared, and almost always awesome when he is.
*** From the same movie's pre-title sequence, Bond emerges from the water in a diving suit (with a duck on the top), takes the suit off- and reveals a perfect tux underneath.

** Goldfinger "I never joke about my work, 007."

* Bond isn't the only one who gets to be awesome in the movies. The villains, especially the various Big Bads, have plenty of their own moments. To wit:
--->Bond: Do you expect me to talk?
--->Goldfinger: (laughing) No, Mister Bond, I expect you to die!
** And then Goldfinger stays there to watch Bond die. No assuming it will go as planned and that the hero is dead for good old Auric. He's going to be sure he's dead.
** Oddjob showing off his razor-rimmed hat in Goldfinger is pretty awesome, too. If busted by Mythbusters.
** Oddjob's "pressing enagement".
** Goldfinger's spectacular air attack against Fort Knox definitely qualifies. It even comes with a villainous ThemeMusicPowerUp!
** "Who said anything about removing it?" Followed by a very subtle OhCrap moment from Sean Connery.

** Goldfinger (the person, not the movie) was a CMOA for the simple reason that he was smarter than most Bond villains. For example, in one part Bond escapes by tricking the lone guard, but is recaptured later. Next scene shows Bond sitting on his bed in the cell. The camera pans to show the same guard now armed and sitting in a chair a few feet away, and then the camera pans some more to show another six or so guards in the cell with him. Bond survived because of his intelligence, not the villain's stupidity for once.

** Red Grant's cool professionalism all throughout FromRussiaWithLove is a beauty to behold. He stalks Bond through the whole movie, even saving his life once, with Bond none the wiser. Then, he has the balls to kill Bond's contact, replace him to fool Bond. And Bond is totally fooled until Grant reveals himself as SPECTRE.

**** He gets a more subtle one before that in a meta-sense. Bond needs to know where Alex Dimitrios is and what his plans are. So, he seduces the man's wife Solange and discovers that Dimitrios is heading to Miami. Cliche Bond logic would dictate that Bond screws her anyway because screwing random woman is probably what he gets as a paycheck. Instead, as Solange goes into the bedroom to await the nookie, Bond orders some room service ("For two?" "No... for one.") and leaves to go stop an airplane bombing. Bond manages to subvert 40 plus years of Bond cliche and saves the fucking day, bankrupting the BigBad in the process by keeping his pants on and his priorities straight.

He proceeds to have a brutal fight with an [=MI5=] RedShirt, then uses a radio handset, adjusting his voice subtly, to warn everybody outside of a (false) gas leak. With the help of milk bottle grenades, he effortlessly kidnaps the target and escapes in plain sight by slightly changing his outfit to resemble a paramedic. Magnificent. He then proceeds to nonchalantly down his beer as the CIA busts in guns ablaze. He deserves that FieldPromotion at the end of that film.

* Another one, from the GoldenEye video game: At the end of the trainyard mission, Bond steps onto Alec's train, and two guards appear on either side of him. He guns down the one on the left, whips around to kill the one on the right, and then pauses, turns, and adjusts his tie right as the doors slide shut. Classic Bond.

For added fun, multiply Elektra's awesome quotient by ten simply for being more awesome than Christmas Jones. If we had to pick... there's Tracy's fight with TheDragon, ending with her chucking him down the stairs and impaling him on a wall decoration. And for Elektra, she slapped JamesBond after he () diagnosed her as having StockholmSyndrome.

* Timothy Dalton having a fistfight with TheDragon while hanging out the back of a cargo plane in midflight. While a time bomb is counting down. HSQ Yikes.

*** And last, but not least, the car/motorcycle/helicopter/submarine chase, with the CoolCar to end all CoolCars. Slightly less serious, but still awesome.

**** That RedShirt himself is a Crowning Moment Of Awesome. A somewhat unimposing-looking, skinny middle-aged chap (presumably played by a veteran stuntman) who nonetheless almost succeeds in fighting the much younger, bigger and stronger TheDragon to a standstill. Give that guy his OWN movie series!

*** Blow that, Oddjob HIMSELF is a complete CrowningMomentOfAwesome. And Connery hardly uses his wits until that dinal, desperate improvisation. What really makes it so awesome is that Connery Bond is clearly scared shitless by Oddjob's apparent invulnerability, every blow proceeding through fists to wooden clubs to freakin' BARS OF SOLID GOLD doing nothing. It's rare to see Bond scared, and almost always awesome when he is.

*** The terrorist sent to blow up the plane in Miami is epically HoistByHisOwnPetard. That moment where he presses the detonator, looks down at his belt and appears panicked is awesome enough. We cut to Bond's triumphant smile, and that seals the deal.

* The 1967 CasinoRoyale even manages one, where out-of-retirement Sir James (David Niven) wins a game of catch with stone cannonballs against a group of much bigger Highlanders.
