Even when his plan is foiled by Samus Aran destroying the Metroids on [=SR388=], this only feeds his obsession further: she must have great power to have accomplished such a feat. But he also learns that she retains the DNA of the infant Metroid, which she spared once out of love. Her love stopped her from completing the mission; she ''failed'' because of love. So to him, power really is everything.

Raven Beak also trods on Samus' personal love, by impersonating her comrade ADAM and killing her newfound Thoha relative Quiet Robe.

But the greatest step against Samus' love is when he reveals their connection: she has his DNA. He is a father to her. But instead of using this revelation to grant her love, he uses it to exert power over her. This of course fails. And when he's overpowered Samus yet again, holding her completely on the ropes, he continues to gloat about power. It's brought him this far. He's won.

But Samus won't allow it. She will not let power control her. She will not let it dictate her morals, her passions, her duties to the galaxies and the Chozo, by kneeling to Raven Beak. She rejects the legacy of the Mawkin and embraces the legacy of the Thoha, becoming what is effectively a Metroid herself. This lets her suck away Raven Beak's power - and when power is everything, that leaves him with nothing.

All Raven Beak is left with is the X, which he thought to have conquered already. He mutates into a monstrosity, lurching towards Samus with nothing to lose. Defiantly, he calls out one last time before succumbing to the Metroid warrior: ''HADAR SEN OLMEN''.

By becoming ''the'' Metroid, Samus gives her Thoha ancestors the most profound gift one could give - redemption. She turns their greatest mistake into their greatest triumph, fully inheriting their legacy, and making the name "Metroid" a beacon of hope rather than a nightmare to be feared. Now ''that'' is love.
