So Yeah, I'm nuking that sentence as flame bait and personal opinion.

Also, is the Mossad a separate trope, or included here? I have several examples of Mossad operatives in fiction...

Silent Hunter: That wasn't meant to be Flame Bait. That was my noting that the IDF is controversial. I lean towards the Israelis in the whole conflict.

Mossad can go under Cloak and Dagger.

Xander77: That one has fictional organizations, and organizations in Real Life (and that's if we ignore the "differences between RL and fiction" theme). So I'm not sure that's the place.

Xander77: "Which is an acronym itself in the local language". How the HELL do you have the time and inclination to edit the entry and add that, but not to go to wikipedia and find out what it's an acronym OF and what the "local language" is?

  • Or maybe due to the fact that Israel has herded about 1.5 million Palestinians into an area about twice the size of Washington DC (pop. 581,530).

  1. That's Gaza, that's not all Palestinians.
  2. Israel didn't herd them there.
  3. A combination of slop in "about 1.5 million" (it's a bit less), "about twice" (it's a bit more), current figures for Washington being a bit more, and the fact that the size of Washington DC includes 7 square kilometers of water, makes the density per square mile 10665 for Gaza and 9581 for Washington, which is only about an 11% difference. Moreover:
    • If you ignore the 19.4% parkland in Washington (which is the highest density among all US cities, tied with New York), Gaza is less crowded.
    • Washington DC seems more crowded than you'd expect from the population figures because people commute in for work. I doubt there's the same level of commuting in Gaza.
    • Washington DC contains a lot of office buildings, including the White House. People don't live in office buildings, so everyone else is a bit more crowded.

Wait, what? The forces that later became the IDF can hardly be called La Resistance. Firstly, they'd come to the country from abroad with the intention of turning it into a Jewish state, making them more of a La Imperialist Invader. (There was a small Jewish minority in the country, but they were more ambivalent.) Secondly, they were better armed, trained and organised than the Arab forces they were fighting, which weren't exactly proper armies. (Yes, even the ones involved in the 1948 war, when Israel was invaded by all the surrounding states - those armies were basically scrounged together hastily. Why do you think Israel won so conclusively?)

Xander77: Against the Brittish. Also, learn what Imperialist means. Hint - it's not creating a country, but rather expanding an existing one. Dipshit.

Citizen: Why "Israelis With Infrared Missiles" instead of "Israeli Defense Force"? Am I missing something?

Xander77: Because every other "military of country X" page is "X-ians with Y-weapons".
