  • The end of the trope definition says that most of the throws would require the victim to either not be struggling or actually helping the attacker. However, the throw that is used the most frequently by far, the German Suplex, is used in genuine greco-roman and catch wrestling. Hell, powerbombs have situational uses in MMA (specifically, to counter a triangle choke). Granted, they never look as clean and crisp as they do in movies (because that would indeed have to involve the victim not resisting), but still.

  • Still, if you're in a position to do a german suplex in a real fight (ie not a Pro-wrestling match, or a matial arts competition) then there are much easier and more effective attacks that could be used instead. A sleeper or choke hold, good solid punch to the back of the head, or even the good old neck snap. And by definition, the victim of a powerbomb in a MMA match is not resisting the powerbomb, as they're busy trying to choke the opponent out.
