Wardog Real-life subversion: a couple of years ago I was at a marine surveying trade show, where there was a stall displaying assorted toughened/padded cases (as used for transporting delicate instruments). Being a shooter myself, I noticed that one of the cases on display looked suspiciously like a gun case. When I enquired, I was told it was, the typically customer being people working in e.g. the Arctic where they may need to defend themselves from dangerous wildlife. However, in an interesting subversion to the trope, they are apparently also popular with musiscians looking for a case to carry their instruments in.
