Burai: The Oldest Ones in the Book is, for the purposes of this site, pretty bluntly defined:

Any tropes that predate the election of John F. Kennedy to the U.S. Presidency (November 1960)
Hence Zork III (© 1982) wouldn't quite qualify, even if it seems like the dawn of time to video gamers.

Sci Vo: Yeah, we need to split that someday, to distinguish between media. New Media Tropes are obviously going to have newer oldest ones than literature's new ones.

Tanto: Eh, I'm not a huge fan of The Oldest Ones in the Book anyway — I'd be just as happy if we left the New Media Tropes out. They are, after all, new.

Metroid is famous for breaking the script. There are rewards in the remake for bypassing almost all of the Items.

Should script breaking that only occurs with cheat codes really be on this page? Of course you're going to break the game if you break it.
