First discussion page, I don't know if this is the right place. Okso, there's a book with mermaids that I read ages ago, and seeing as TV Tropers read things that I like, I was hoping to find the title again. It's based on King Arthur and the Lady of the Lake (Nimue) and Merlin, although you don't realize that until much later. It starts out (As best I can remember) with a girl going through the market to get food. Seafood of course. There's mention of a special type of basket. And unless I'm totally misremembering things, there's some sort of squid-like creature that's really important. So anyway, there's treachery in the royalty, and Nimue has to escape - to the surface? And the squid thing dies, while being merged with her, something about a magic crystal in its body. I think. Like I said, it was ages ago. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, Tropers. Thank you for the help if it's not.
