Sci Vo: Since it isn't immediately obvious, I figured that I'd present my reasoning that just a couple professions have a special relationship with money. In many countries, "sex with consenting adults" and "favors from public officials" automagically become illegal when money (or blood ties) are involved. As for Hired Guns, payment is frequently a significant plot point ("How much is he paying you?") since they're independent contractors -- sometimes even doing speculative work for just the promise of a cut.
