So an article about deliquent schoolkids only applies to the Japanese. Did I miss something here?

Khym Chanur: Don't female delinquents have unusually long skirts, rather than short ones?
Seyr: This writeup seems particularly strange to me because it fails to mention Yankii subculture by name even once.

Chrome Newfie: First I've heard the term. I understand that the archetype of the delinquent gang leader in TV is called bancho, and the female equivalent is onna bancho or sukeban. I did a search on your term, came up with this. Got any other/better refs?

Looney Toons: Seyr, this is the second time you've breezed through, dropped a complaint about not using a term no one else has ever heard before, and buggered off without explanation. We're not saying you're wrong, but would it hurt to explain what the bloody freakin' hell you're talking about? As Newfie says, throw us a link or two to show us what we're missing.

Sukeban: Um, Seyr's right. I'll try to include the Japanese term later. Here is a short essay on yankii subculture at the Shimotsuma Monogatari website.

Is there overlap between this and Street Urchin? —Document N

Nobodymuch: Not much. Street Urchins are neglected children begging or scavenging for food. Delinquents are teenagers who defy adult authority

Thinks Too Much: How come it's almost all anime examples, and why's it unsorted? Should I sort it?
  • Yes, please do.
