Rule Golden launched as InAnotherMansShoesDiscussion: From YKTTW

Ununnilium: What about the variation on this where one character literally swaps lives with another, usually through some Applied Phlebotinum? The Flintstones had the Great Gazoo swap Fred and his boss, for instance. Is this already covered under one of the categories, y'think?

Gus Sounds like Freaky Friday, to me.

Ununnilium: The difference is, the switching person keeps his own body, and basically has the universe rebuilt around him so that he's in the other person's situation and they're in his. Nobody realizes anything's different except the switcher and the source of phlebotinum. (On the other hand, there may not be enough examples of this rather specific variation - I know Spongebob Squarepants did it too, though. Anyone else?)

Red Shoe: There's a similar episode of Vr5. Also, how about the related one where the subject isn't actually switched with someone, just dropped in an Alternate Universe where everything's the same except the circumstances of his life (cf. A couple of christmas movies and the recent Smallville -- maybe it's really a variation on Its A Wonderful Life).

Ununnilium: Ooh, yeah - both the above and Its A Wonderful Life seem like subsets of that.

Ununnilium: Love that Peter the Great example.

Donraj: I've heard that Peter's real identity was kind of an open secret. The man was, what, over seven feet tall? Drank a lot, ripped hotel rooms and bars apart, etc. He didn't exactly blend.
