Hang on: Benjamin Briggs wasn't a pirate — he was the captain of the Marie Celeste. Does the work referenced really describe him as a pirate?

Gemmifer: Very well snarked!

Praetyre: I am so tempted to put the poster for Valkyrie as the main image.

Known Unknown: Put back some deleted text. There's a fine line between natter and elaboration, but it's there.

I don't consider this 'natter' but in deference to those who do repost it here:
  • More was not a religious fanatic he just took his faith more seriously and more literally than is fashionable today, as was true of his Protestant opponents (who also believed in the Death penalty for heresy). More however is on record as recommending mercy for the congregation if not the minister who led them astray. However, as R.W. Chambers observed, there is no point in making More a 19th c. Liberal and then complaining because he wasn't.
