Sci Vo: I'm confused. The description says that "Lampshade Hanging" is common, but then there aren't any examples. There are examples of justification, though. Is that what was meant?
Anomaly: I think what's meant is that the trope itself is a Lampshade Hanging, for the character equivalent of Forgotten Phlebotinum - the Green Roomed character, like the Phlebotinum, would be useful if they were around. So, to excuse the lack of the character, the writers put in some throwaway line to justify their absence, such as K9 breaking down or a JL member being in space. On the other hand, though, what's with the quotations around "keep" in the last paragraph? Is it an editing mistake, and the troper meant to put "keep doing this" instead? I can see how that would happen.
Dr Killjoy: How'd this trope get its name, anyway?
Pontifex: Yeah, the name has no apparent connection to the trope. I recommend a re-name.
