IIRC, this was done in both "Mac Gyver" and "Mike Hammer" (the Mike Hammer one to cover Stacy Keatch's absence fro filming due to a drug arrest—all the regulars met at a bar and explained how he solved that week's case. The last scene was of a body double in silhouette and Rich Little's voice imitating Keatch.)
