LO Rd: About the Sandman example - I've only read like two stories, but aren't beings from Abrahamic religions presented as the top-ranking divinities in the series? I do recall Dream being genuinely afraid to fighting Lucifer, deferring to angels, and implying that the Silver City is off-limits even to the Endless.
Peteman: I removed the "gave themselves shapeshifting" abilities from the Founders. They were always shapeshifters. In fact, it's one of the reasons they're so militaristic. People had an irrational fear shapeshifters, so they responded by giving their would-be oppressors very good reasons to fear shapeshifters.
