CA Lieber: I think both versions are about the stereotype that all men always only want sex — the "old version" is simply a subversion of it: "oh, ho ho, a woman wants sex! How wacky!"
Jordan: Is it just me, or does anyone else not think that this trope really has a lot to do with gender stereotyping? Because while I can't think of specifics, I know I've seen examples of this where it's more like one partner wants the other to go to sleep, and the other partner is working on something all night. And even if sex is involved, it doesn't seem that weird in any case that you wouldn't want your partner working on something the entire night. - Edit- I see that is mentioned as the platonic version, which seems to me at least as much more common.
