Working Title: Attempted Rape: From YKTTW
cassius335: What's the difference between Attempted Rape and Date Rape Averted? Might be an idea to lump the latter into the former.
Lina: I think the difference is mostly in how it's portrayed. In Real Life, rape is rape, but a Date Rape Averted rapist is portrayed as being not such a bad guy, whereas the Attempted Rape rapist is a terrible person. The former is usually done for laughs, too. I'm a Splitter myself, but I will note the suggestion to merge on both discussion pages.
Fanra: The difference is that in Date Rape Averted, she is on a date with the guy. While Attempted Rape there is no date (at least not with him). Therefore, in Back To The Future, as I said, if George had interrupted Marty attempting to rape Loraine, that would be Date Rape Averted. Indeed, that was the plan, but instead Biff came along and had Marty taken away and then Biff tried to rape Loraine, which George then interrupted. That is Attempted Rape. Of course, the crime is the same but the set up is different.
Caswin: In the reply to the Ah My Goddess example, what does it mean by "we know the victim to normally be a teenage girl"? Belldandy masquerades as an ordinary teenage girl, but of course we all know she isn't, and she hadn't dropped the disguise when Aoshima decided he wanted her whether she liked it or not (and subsequently received a satisfying supernatural backlash for his efforts, which should probably be mentioned, but that's beside the point right now). It's not talking about the incident with Skuld in the last episode of the season, is it? Is Skuld even a teenager?

*** This troper thought that Eddie was Silk Spectre 2's father, and the conception was when Silk Sceptre got raped. It makes sense as the incredible longshot odds of her existing, and why her stepfather was angry all the time.
*** It should be pointed out this is a case Rescue Romance as Sally Jupiter later goes on to date Hooded Justice until he disappears. Or so it seems. Supplementary materials indicate that she was acting as his beard, as he was in a homosexual pair with Captain Metropolis.\\
