From YKTTW

Adam850: How about not being afraid, per say, but wincing and whining over removing bandages, getting shots, stinging antiseptic, and the like.

Earnest: I tried to word the article to include non-battle pain, because that's what this trope is primarily about. So yeah, those can go in.

I'd just like to thank tvtropes for making me aware my phobia had a name. Now I can sound educated while sobbing hysterically at the thought of injections! >.> (Seriously, though, thanks. ) ~ a lurker

Would Rurouni Kenshin count under this trope? In the first episode he is told by a pair of little girls to stop being such a baby when his wounds are being treated (to which he responds that it hurts amusingly enough)

Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: It would if Kenshin exhibited more pain from his wounds being treated than he did from getting them. And that happens frequently.

Johnny E: Couldn't this be split into (a) the trope about tough guys showing more pain being tended to than they do being shot, which often doesn't involve needles, and (b) just a straight fear of needles, which can show up in other settings?

Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: would someone please check whether the Dragon Lance example is true? Preferably someone who recognizes that just because it's impossible in Real Life doesn't mean it can't happen in Canon? (Yes, even severing one's hand with a wine glass.)
The Apathetic Despot: I've replaced the name of the real life disorder with Trypanophobia, the fear of injections. Aichmophobia is the fear of pins, and is not appropriate for a medical context.
