Freezer: Calling Sebell and Menolly Rape Is Love is a massive stretch. They admit afterwards that it wasn't just matiing flight-induced lust that drove them towards sex. Hell, if you can call it rape at all, they raped each other.

I would also argue against including F'lar and Lessa. Love came long after that first unpleasant, post-mating encounter. And I got the impression that it was only that unpleasant due to Lessa's virginity and her determination to spite F'lar by not responding positively to anything he did.

Greenygal: The text explicitly says that F'lar continues to have sex with her after that, even though it might as well be rape unless the dragons are involved. It's not an aspect of their relationship that's dwelt on much, but it is right there in the text.

Keith Fraser: I'm not sure about the examples above, but F'nor and Brekke definitely should *not* be listed under Rape Is Love. Their first sexual encounter - in Dragonquest - was consensual and their dragons weren't involved (indeed, they never have dragon-induced sex since Brekke's dragon is killed when she first rises to mate).

Greenygal: No, actually I think Brekke and F'nor are a pretty clearcut case of Rape Is Love. The text says that Brekke fought, that she pleaded; I don't think that becomes consensual just because she's in love with the guy and eventually "surrenders" to him. (McCaffrey has a bad case of "nice girls don't (unless somebody makes them)" going on a lot of the time, and this is a classic example.

Freezer: Putting Dis Continuity back. If you're going to edit something because it's untrue, cut the untrue part, not the whole thing. (See Dame McCaffery's "Renewable Airforce" statement on the Green\Blue edict.)

Fighteer: Okay, I get it. Jaxom is a Canon Sue. Do we have to go on and on about it on the main page? It starts to look like Thread Mode. I say we cut all that cruft and drop it into the appropriate Sue page.
