For a Less Wrong member, enjoyable. For anyone else? Well...

If you really want to read an extended sermon on Elizer's Rationality and read about just how damn impressive this manchild finds himself, if you really want to see Canon defiled and the writer insulted by someone with less self-awareness and writing ability, if you really want to read a bad story with unintentionally mechanical and lifeless characters that act less like people and more like toys in Elizer Yudcowsky's fat hands, if you want to see a God-Mode Sue render everything an opportunity to be what he considers a Flashy Invincible Hero when it isn't time for contrived conflict to tie his hands, if you want to see Draco in Leather Pants and Ron the Death Eater (On Ron himself and especially Dumbledore, because "Dumbledore is worse than Voldemort, Draco said so!" never got old) used unironically while Hermione is forced to become Harry's slave via Unbreakable Vow... write your own fanfic, and even if you're a complete amateur, you'll write something better than this. Deus Ex Machinae and Diablous Ex Machinae make the victories and conflicts as artificial and hollow as the promises of utopia Less Wrong uses to get you to [[Cult donate money to its "AI Research Foundation"]]. How can a "Self-taught" man research AI when he has no idea how AI works and is too stuck-up to check? He'd rather you not ask that. This is one of the worst fanfics ever made. Worse than My Immortal, Fifty Shades of Grey, My Little Unicorn, or Soni Chu. Worse than any other fanfic in existence, on every single level. It starts off badly executing its "Intelligent Harry in an Intelligent world" premise and goes downhill from there as the ego-stroking of his cult drives Elizer further away from reality, eventually doing away with its central premise altogether for no reason because M. Night "What a Tweest!" Shymalan is apparently someone to be imitated in his world. If you are easily impressed by things that sound intelligent on paper but stop making sense the second you actually think about them, like the "Voldemort somehow turns the Pioneer Probe into a Horcrux, don't ask me who he kills to make the Horcrux or how he gets it into space after the murder, just be impressed because the Horcrux is in space" you'll love this fanfic. Harry is no longer Harry, or even an AU Harry, he is Elizer. How does "Harry lives in a happier family, but is emotionally WORSE to be on par with Elizer" make any sense? At least with Harry Black fanfics, you get SOME justifications for the changes. Here? I hope you like hearing "You need to alter your thought processes to find this entertaining and intelligent or you're a Layman and Troll" from its fanboys.

10/10 - IGN Final Verdict: Only bother reading it if you're MST3King this, or if regular Goatse just isn't doing it for you any more.

He is not Eliezer. At most he is Ender Wiggins.

Ender had a lot of compassion, though. That's what set him apart from his "Spock" counterpart Bean, and a more effective commander.

Also, the Bayesian worship\'s a bit of a giveaway.

Yeah. Harry isn\'t Harry. Not even close. It\'s sort of a plot point. Dumbledore is worse than Voldemort was also a plot point (and not true. It not being true was also a plot point.) Hermione wasn\'t forced to become Harry\'s slave via Unbreakable Vow. The Pioneer Probe thing can be solved in literally 20 seconds if you bother to think about it. I don\'t think you understand what Deus Ex Machina means. I have read My Immortal. Nothing compares. I don\'t care if you don\'t like it, but get your goddamn facts straight.

And insulting the author is a real dick move.

Oh, wow.

Take a sip every time someone that believes Ender\'s Game is the smartest thing in existence cites it in HPMOR\'s defense.

Down your glass every time a HPMOR fan gets mad when you insult their precious Lord Elizer.

...I mean... this *is* more of a rant than a review. And you *do* spend a lot of time ranting about what a crap person the author is.

The fact that I mostly agree with you on both points doesn\'t mean I can\'t acknowledge that one.

I legitimately have no idea what Elizer\'s personality is like, but I still feel as though we need to focus more on the My Immortal part of this review. It was simply unacceptable elevating that fanwork above ANYTHING.

That someone considers this to be worse than My Immortal is not "unacceptable" - it is, after all, merely their opinion.

Noooo that was a joke.

Oh, okay.

...Joking Mode might have helped there, to be honest.

The guy defending Methods is named \"Lovable Nazi.\" That\'s a pretty good reason to openly mock the story, the writer, and the fandom around it tbh

I have to be honest; I got sick of how much people fawn over both this story and its author a long time ago. The page for Yudkowski on this wiki used to say that he was the most important person since Jesus. It's kind of a relief to see someone say they don't like either.

I felt the same way the first time I met someone who didn\'t fall for this Rick And Morty-tier garbage.

And if anyone\'s confused about my \"It\'s worse than My Immortal\" line... My Immortal doesn\'t have a cult of blind pseudointellectual fanboys giving money to its writer.

Why is this flagged? Did someone not like the review?

^ Maybe because it insults the author and the readers repeatedly?

Apathy is Death. Worse than Death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds beasts and insects.

Not to mention calling a real life group a cult.

I\'m going to assume you meant \"Calling a real life group a cult basic only on not liking them\" as cults are a real life thing.

My alignment is Chaotic Cute.

To be fair, Less Wrong *is* a cult.

The idea that Less Wrong is full of it is hardly novel, especially given that Roko's Basilisk malarchy.
