Terrible

The combat has even less variety than the Werehog.

The gameplay is boring, and not at all Sonic-like.

Not even the soundtrack is good.

While it's not as bad 06, 06 was so bad it was funny. Rise of Lyric is just painfully boring and forgettable.

So Okay Is Average then?

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.

You do know that the entire development staff has reinstated hundred of times that this Sonic game is different from the others, right?

"Not even the soundtrack is good."

The soundtrack in bad...in a Sonic game?

You Can Panic Now :P

Looks like another failure for the Sonic series. I've always felt that the majority of Sonic games are poor. I haven't played them all but many people have a lot of bad things to say about them. Ant Dude 92 tears Sonic: Lost Word apart in his review on YouTube, calling it "not just a bad game, but a totally incompetent game".

"and not at all Sonic-like."

It's like it's a spin-off. Why do people not seem to get this? Your other points are fine (though the review as a whole is short and doesn't explain much) but it's like playing Paper Mario and expecting Super Mario Bros. 3.

You can't call multiple games you haven't played poor because other people don't like them.

Eh, this game looks alright to me, granted i haven't played it. I like the return of other playable characters and the platforming.

I thought Lost world was painfully mediocre, so yeah. But saying that the majority of Sonic games are poor when you haven't even played any is a uninformed opinion.

Just watching YouTube footage, the game didn't look fun. Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors were fantastic, and I really liked the two Sonic Adventure games. Why don't they look at what worked?

Because you can't just publish the same game over and over again. Even Mario innovates once in a while.

Innovating is important, and Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations certainly innovated. But both those games thought about what makes Sonic work. There's innovating, and then there's trying ideas that are just plain bad.

Sonic Boom is a sub-franchise, consisting of these 2 games and a cartoon. It's primarily aimed at kids, and the games are produced by an outside team instead of Sonic Team.

just thought I'd throw something out there - "they" aren't the same people who made Sonic Colors or Generations. The devs designed some games which they felt suited the tone and feel of the cartoon. Think of it like this - they aren't making a Sonic game, they're making a Sonic Boom game.

Yeah, but sadly, the bad reputation the Sonic franchise has, the BROKENBASE, the Hatedom, and everything else, and you get an exaggerated review of the game. is mediocre, and with glitches, but is not Sonic 06 bad, where the story was convoluted, Sonic was a Flat Character, and the gameplay was seriously broken with the roulette..

Seriously people, and stop asking for Sonic Generations 2, is not going to happen until 10 years with another celebration.

All I said when I played this game for about an hour and put it down is an EXTREMELY disappointing "What did I expect". This is coming from someone who's been a fan for at least 10 years and will defend the 3D games like the Adventure series (at least the first one) from what seems to be a pretty screwed up fanbase. But here nope I say to any fans who don't like this...tear it up there's barely anything salvageable besides the typical good soundtrack and the awesomeness of Mike Pollock.
