Should "When She Smiles" go before "When The Planets Align" or after? I just added but now I'm thinking of taking it off.

Why wouldn't it be before?

  • Villain World:
    • In Book 4, Kuvira ends up re-uniting the splintered kingdom into the Earth Empire, a militaristic state that rounds up citizens of non-Earth Kingdom lineage into re-education camp, constructs weapons of mass destruction through spirit vines, and is intent on conquering the United Republic and establishing itself as the world's dominant superpower.

From what I gathered, she didn't wanted to establish a dominant superpower, she just wanted to reunite the Earth Kingdom. It just so happened that the United Republic annexed some former Earth Kingdom regions.

Am I right? Should it be fixed?

I don't think its a stretch to assume that Kuvira would want dominance and power, even after retaking back the earth Kingdom territories.

Speculation. Go with what we know, not what we assume about a character's personality.

Kuvira wanted Republic City because it was on Earth Empire land (as far as she was concerned). That's all.

It was discussed, at least. I believe Tenzin's argument to the Fire Lord was "do you really think they're going to stop with Republic City?"

Then it should perhaps be noted that the other world leaders believe Kuvira won't stop at RC rather than stating outright that she wouldn't.

  • Suddenly Sexuality: Korra and Asami's Relationship Upgrade appears to fall into this. After being romantic rivals over Mako for the first two seasons, the next two seasons don't really feature the kind of development necessary to go from friends to a romantic relationship. This is particularly noticeable in Book 4, where Korra doesn't join up with her friends again until the season's half over and she and Asami don't have many scenes together after that point. It doesn't help that the final shot of Korra and Asami at the end of the series is intended to be a Call-Back to Aang and Katara's Big Damn Kiss at the end of ATLA, which was the culmination of the entire series building up their relationship, while Korra and Asami's time together is never explicitly romantic until that final scene.

Okay this is a discussion that seems to have been become rather heated so perhaps I'm stirring the beehive but I think that this should be put on YMMV in some form or another. The reason is that I have found a few comments from people with (what they say is) real life experience (like this one http://lokgifsandmusings.tumblr.com/post/108130406008/korrasami-is-great-writing) that have commented that the development in their relationship is in fact rather close to real life.

Also there is a reason that the Ship Tease page is full with Korrasami examples so I wouldn't say that the relationship (and sexuality) came out of nowhere and was instead somewhat planned in advance.

In 3-4 years, we've seen both girls show romantic interest in 1 boy. 1 data point is not enough to determine sexuality with certainty.

It's definitely a valid entry. There are four seasons of only boys being treated as love interests, and while there's plenty of Ship Tease moments in the end, by and large that's just friendly behavior. That's the one thing that bugged me about their getting together... I feel like writers have a lot of trouble writing characters as good friends (and fans have more trouble seeing a strong friendship and not seeing it as romantic).

I'll say this, their getting together works well with how they acted. However, the crux of my argument is that them just being really good friends would have worked just as well.

The wording is too harsh, though. It's definitely bogged down in personal opinion and criticism ,and seems to be describing Strangled by the Red String (which is a YMMV item) rather than Suddenly Sexuality. A proper SS entry should mention that there's no sign they're both bisexual until suddenly they both are, and leave the judgement calls on the romance itself to YMMV.

^My problem with labeling it with Sudden Sexuality is that it would seem to contradict the large amounts of homoerotic subtext that is (probably overly fanwankingly) recorded on the ship tease page.

I agree that its possible that they could have ended with them being friends but there would have been an undertone of queer baiting.

The thing is, we only know it's Homoerotic Subtext in hindsight. All that was formerly considered Les Yay, because no one actually thought they'd do it. It's only after The Reveal that they're both bisexual that we realized it was genuinely Homoerotic Subtext.

I wasn't one of them who thought they'd actually do it, but there was something there, even without the final episode.

So if the trope is being used, there should be some concession that there were some ambiguous and subtle hints and nudges.

Tropes aren't things that "appear to be," nor should they be all spoilered. I say keep it off the page for those reasons alone.

That said, it isn't sudden — there's clear hints, to the point where non-shippers, and people who didn't think Nick would even hint at it (like me) saw something going on between them even back in Season 3.
