I think the biggest impact is that the post-COVID world has seen a sharp spike and normalisation of various contactless deliveries and work-from-home culture. Subjective, but at leat in tech, you're basically *expecting* a position to offer remote work, something that was merely an exception for freelances and others before 2019.
Hey, I keep trying to turn some of those red index links into actual indexes, but it keeps redirecting me to the Trope Launch Pad instead of letting me actually create a page. How do you actually create one of those non-trope pages that have the Main namespace?
Edited by Troperweatherly23 Hide / Show RepliesStart TLP drafts for them, though I don't really feel like most of them will have enough examples right now. Please just wait a bit.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Well, mainly I wanted to open the Anime index, since there are quite a lot of anime confirmed to be set to air this year. Thanks for telling me how it works, though!
This page should be updated at least by 2025., the argument that not much has happened now definitely doesn't hold water any more and sensitive questions & article entries can be hashed out here before the final version is added there by the mods.
Does anyone else think artificial intelligence should be mentioned here? As far as computers being able to do human-like things, it seems like the frequency and magnitude of advancements really started to kick into high gear right around the turn of this decade.
Hide / Show RepliesI agree. I think it’s time this overview got updated since we have a clearer idea of how the pandemic progressed and has been fading from the public eye and we’ve had several new developments since such as Russia attacking Ukraine and the emergence of AI.
Agree as well. We're now into late 2023, and we're already seeing some pretty big developments beyond COVID-19:
- The war in Ukraine, which has now escalated to a full-on invasion and has been at that point for quite some time.
- The end of the War on Terror, which had been ongoing since the early 2000s.
- The advancements made in AI technology, with OpenAI specifically changing the game in many, many respects, as well as the growth of cryptocurrency.
- The larger outcry against racism starting with the George Floyd protests that marked a giant cultural shift in resistance towards racial prejudice.
- Specific cultural phenomena, such as the launches of the Play Station 5 and Xbox Series X And S, "Barbenheimer", and the Eras Tour, and the Hollywood strikes.
Now we have the war between Israel and Hamas as well. It's time to update until at least the end of 2022, if not the end of 2023.
Do you think we should add some of the internet nicknames for this decade, such as "The Roaring What-The-Fucks" and "The Burning 20s"?
Bye from Bea♡I've been a troper long enough to see two new decade pages launched. I feel old.
My tropes launched: https://surenity2.blogspot.com/2021/02/my-tropes-on-tv-tropes.htmlWhy do i have a feeling that this page too is locked due to the war in Ukraine (as was the useful notes for The New Twenties). Ok, the fear of a flame war is a legitimate issue but conversely we have an effective block on updates that have nothing to do with the war like the AI/NFT/Meta developments and other potential events.
"Because the disease is already infectious during the two-week-long incubation period, it's considered a far greater threat": Since the wording makes the point less than obvious, I would like admin to add, before the comma, one of these parentheticals:
A. (that is, you spread it before you realize that you have it) B. (that is, you spread it before you even realize that you're sick)
Which I say mostly because this concept seems to elude a lot of people (including some family members, sigh), so plain wording is useful both for people dealing with it now and for people referring to this as a historical note later.
Only the curious have, if they live, a tale worth telling at all.Hey guys, we have a thread here to discuss the fate of this page. Come join us.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo, when are we going to unlock this page? Seems the pandemic is turning into an endemic in some places. Are we going to update this once the pandemic is going to be in its endemic pace worldwide?

I just did that for flarn2006 now. It's about time someone noted that there.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI would personally prefer if this were moved to The Double Twenties.

Eventually, these real life events will have to be moved to a separate Useful Notes page.
