"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDoes it count as a "Not Making This Up Disclaimer" if they are making it up, but still use a disclaimer.
I was just wondering if The Chasers War On Everything example really fit this trope.
It sounds more like a case of Blatant Lies (which would be more in line with the way they usually go about making blatantly false subtitles).
I'm not 100% sure of this either way (and I don't recall the specific skit in question) which is why I haven't removed the example. If someone can weigh in with their opinion, I'll look into it further.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."I went ahead and culled a lot of the potholes to this trope that were inappropriate, hopefully it'll stay that way. I cut it down from over 400 potholes, 2/3 of which were using it wrong. And before you ask my OCD was acting up today.
Face the past and you'll fly ass first into the future. - My Dad Hide / Show RepliesWell I'm glad it was, as that's more than even what I could have done. Thank you.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I figured it was better to channel it into something somewhat constructive, and I'd been meaning to do it for a bit.
Face the past and you'll fly ass first into the future. - My DadMaybe next time you have a fit and want to be constructive with it, perhaps you could cut a lot of uses of Most Triumphant Example. That's not supposed to be used on trope or work pages.
Edited by DragonQuestZ I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Huh, I'll keep that one in mind.
Edited by Katsuhagi Face the past and you'll fly ass first into the future. - My DadI just took some out again. Why did we take out the part on the main trope page asking people not to pothole it like that? It seems people still don't get it.
Face the past and you'll fly ass first into the future. - My DadI added the Dick Van Dyke example. Does that count, or should I go hunting for all the snarky headlines that went with the story?
Seems someone just declared it should be off. Plus I hate the Weasel Words term "doesn't need".
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Could I Am Not Making This Up be a redirect to this page? They seem to be so similar...
Hide / Show RepliesNo. It got used too much, when it didn't fit.

>and the section concludes that there is still unnoticed slave imagery in modern advertising (such as Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, two brands which weren't retired for being racist until 2020).
I see a big problem here - taking as a FACT the idea that those brands' presentation was racist, even though this accusation was widely mocked as politically correct nonsense and hollow virtue signaling.
